I understand the sentiment. If anyone cares, the reason is that dual typing has a lot of advantages for potential movesets, and it’s balanced out by all weaknesses that both types have are applied to it, sometimes doubling its weaknesses or its resistances.

bro the game is barely out. I'd argue it's hardly a finished game 😂 give em a couple months then start nitpicking. if they can't get basics fixed up by the endnof the 2nd full month of global then that's wild
Notice how the dark p2w one looks more appealing & isnt flashbanging your eyes, reality is they plan to make people buy cosmetics if they want the cooler ones
@@vecheeto21 Theres been like 3 mats leaked that are just as bright if not brighter. Like yeah this game is p2w (welcome to the world of tcg) But i dont think its been *that* planned out
The reason so many birds of random types are weak to lightning is because types are not translated equally from the main pokemon series & the TCGs, most pokemon have 2 types in the main series & only 1 on the TCGs (on the other TCG pokemon have different cards with each of their type's equivalent or equivalents), as an exemple of weird typing colorless from TCG includes the main series normal, flying & fairy types (& one more if I remember correctly) while fairy is also included in psychic on the TCGs (& fairy on the other TCG), flying in the main series is weak to lightning & normally a secondary type (most cards of each pokemon go to the primary type in the other TCG, it should be the same here).
That Pikachu player made a pretty egregious misplay by giving the Zebstrika energy. Had they attached it to Pikachu, it would've been guaranteed lethal.
This seems like a cool deck! I think you could use the other Zapdos here too since it has a solid 100 damage. You could also use the fossils since they don’t count as basics until you use them which could help with non Ex Zapdos’ friendly fire. The benefit would be more Pokémon to switch to with the opponent needing to do at least 430 damage (assuming non Exs die first) rather than just 260.
yeah it was but the thing was thta your deck HAD to be 60 cards at least, not 20. 20 makes it kind of broken ocnsidering you can double Pkeball and prof oak. I bet when the game releases those cards are getting limeted to 1
@@hectorpacheco9870 Yeah but there was no supporter rules in the PTCG during the Game boy TCG era, only trainers so you could prof. oak research 4 times in one turn, computer search and item finder. Many cards that are limited to Ace spec cards if they are even in the format at all. You can essentially go through your entire deck on turn 1 and grab literally the exact cards you want.
not sure if it would be good but I'm thinking you could add aerodactyl since the fossil doesn't count as a basic pokemon for your first hand, much better than say pokedex
Interested in why you went for a 2 of x speed in this deck. feels like it'll be somewhat rare you can play it, let alone play it for good effect. is there just no better option? i'm not familiar with what is and isn't in pocket.
We need to have only one Pokemon for this strategy, and thus need 18 trainer cards, so X-Speed is at least potentially useful, unlike a Blaine or something which has zero use.
I don't have Zapdos EX, but I swear by Jolteon. Same effect for 10 less damage each flip, 1 less energy requirement. Yes, it's a stage one, so you have to get an Eevee and Jolteon, but it being able to put out tons of damage earlier just feels good (usually).
Earlier is not consistent though. Since Zapdos is a basic it can be search with Pokeball and garauntee as the first pokemon. Jolteon you need to draw into which might not arrive turn 3 when Zapdos can actually removing Pokemon.
It's changed a lot. Namely: In the TCG, you get prize cards for defeating Pokemon, and need to claim 6 Prize cards to win. Pocket changes it to 3 "Victory Points." The bench is smaller, at just 3 cards in Pocket compared to the TCG's 5. You are not guaranteed a Basic Pokemon turn 1. If you end up without any, you redraw as your opponent gets to draw 1 extra card. Repeat until you get one (this is specifically to punish the exact strategy Regis is using) The deck structure is completely different. Instead of 20 cards, max 2/deck, it's 60 cards, max 4/deck + Any number of Basic Energy cards. Basically every card has a different effect. For example, Professor's Research discards your hand and draws 7 cards. Poke Ball requires a coin flip and gets ANY Pokemon, of your choice instead of random, etc.
I understand why they streamlined the traditional TCG gameplay to 20 cards and removed energy cards to simplify things and make it more approachable to new players, but removing the 6 prize cards leads to extremely cheesy strats like this that exploits the game mechanics rather than focuses on building a solid deck with synergy and consistency. Step in the wrong direction in my opinion. This shortened three point meta also leads to extremely snowbally strats that prioritizes early strength over other options like setting up for a comeback. Great video Regis, love your content, but this highlights a play style that isn’t healthy for the community/meta long term.
I think the whole point is quick snappy games. They saw Marvel Snap and definitely wanted a piece of that casual friendly tcg pie. I don’t think this is meant to replace TCG Online by any means
Gotta keep in mind there actually aren't a lot of cards out right now. Hell our best heal is potion for measly 20 hp unless you count Erika. Gotta wait for more cards, but a game like this is meant to be pretty quick. Guessing they don't want long drawn out games in this version, which makes sense for a mobile game. Load it up, do a couple quick matches while your on your way to work or school or something.
I'm not sure this game does a very good job encouraging you to "catch em all" when 1 pokemon deck are so effective lol I mean, I can see why they wanted to streamline the TCG, but I think this just makes the problems more apparent
I wish there were better non pokemon cards to put into your deck, you explained why you are only running the one pokemon but its like dang man is look at opponents hand and look at your top 3 really the best options to finish the deck? kind of sad
You can't run Pokemon other than Zapdos, so you need to fill up the remaining deck with Trainer cards. Pokeball, even at 2 copies, is less useless than say, Blaine or Misty.
Maybe you just didn't lose with this deck, but if possible I feel like you should include a loss game in these videos otherwise it gives the impression of pokemon pocket having the pattern of games always going to the player with the early-game advantage, which makes me a bit less excited about playing this game when it comes out (although that last game did feel a bit more up in the air). Still, great video as always. And I know you do normally include a loss in your hearthstone videos. Also, I feel like you should only be allowed to include 1 ex card in your deck, 2 just seems OP because of how it effectively makes your opponent have to win 4 points instead of 3.
Not gunna lie from every video I’ve seen it is all about early game advantage and absolute cheese. There’s the same type of deck with articuno but it also hits like the whole back line or some shit and you just have to draw misty to win… I think it will be a dumb game competitive wise unless they balance it correctly but doubt they will. So after all the collection of the current era is done people will fall off.
Zapdos having a weakness to lightning is pretty ironic.
Considering it's a flipping Thunderbird.
If im not wrong thats how it is in the other pokemon games as well 😂
I understand the sentiment. If anyone cares, the reason is that dual typing has a lot of advantages for potential movesets, and it’s balanced out by all weaknesses that both types have are applied to it, sometimes doubling its weaknesses or its resistances.

Yay. Solo Pokemon runs. I’m pretty excited for this game.
Back in my day Zapdos was considered Legendary Pokémon and therefore there could be only one! * *continues to yell at cloud* *
Artic"UNO", Zap"DOS" and Mol"TRES" are the legendary birds of kanto, just wanted to point that out since you didn't notice it

There was a similar deck on the Game Boy PTCG. A 4 count Zapdos deck and nothing else and it was pretty OP.

You can get Zapdos (both normal and EX) in Pikachu packs.

Coin flips are the bane of me, but since this is a fast deck and considering the current birds meta, this deck looks quite fun indeed!
