I’m a 71yo Veteran and I’m just trying to survive. I couldn’t afford living in NY anymore and moved to North Carolina and still had to sleep in the woods a few times. If all these homes are empty why not help homeless veterans? Please some of us need help especially in the winter.

Actually lived in a Haunted House for over 25 years. Yes, there were plenty of noises and strange optics at all times of the day... took about 5 years to figure out that it was on an actual schedule of events and that the events reoccured at the same time every year at the same time of day or night. some appeared to be significant, others simply replays of typical household accidents. discovered that playing music from the original owners era actually stopped much of the activity... it all seemed routine and something to be expected on a given day. Note: Original Owner was a Scientist. The Lab in the basement was kept intact until the new owner gutted it and I decided to remodel it. always amused me to hear about the issues he was constantly having.

    The Watcher House
They sold the property for $959,000 to Andrew and Allison Carr in 2019, who didn't seem phased by the letters. Westfield police told The Post in October 2021 that there have not been any threatening communications since the new owners took over the home.
    NY Post Oct 2022
    Do you do any research???

Why don't they scan the entire houses? There are most probably secret rooms where people hide and get out at night. Since they know how to get in and get out unnoticed, they can't be seen, unless you put cameras and scan the house.

The upkeep at a lot of those Mansions wouldn't make it affordable housing at all that's the problem.
Besides you would have people moving in there destroying it and making even more because they simply don't know how to appreciate or take care of things.
But turning them into condo situations that's kind of a cool thing!

Re: The Watcher House. The people who bought the house for less than a third of what the previous owners paid for it should be investigated for sending the threatening letters. Also, I'm (and probably most other people) under 24-7 surveillance **inside** my home, no hidden cameras needed, thanks to satellites and drones equipped with see-through-wall technology.

I can understand some of the circumstances like being too remote or having to move the house but if a house is haunted, that's no excuse. It's one thing if a spirit is dark and tries to hurt you, otherwise, they just do thing and you do yours.

We stayed at a haunted bed and breakfast in Tombstone that was featured on Unsolved Mysteries. When we got there we were told about people getting mysteriously locked in the bathroom by one of their ghosts. And, yes, I got locked in the bathroom. I couldn't stop laughing. And then, I've been in houses that felt really malevolent. My brother and his wife had things disappear and move so many times they named it George. "George, can I have my pen back? I really liked that pen." They'd find it back where it disappeared from.

  • @Tlyna1952

Granot Loma is a beautiful house but one is where it is located. Lake Superior is washing up right next to the house and that is a problem right there, storms on that lake bring high waves. Also log homes take a lot of extra upkeep. A friend of mine had a 5500 sq ft log home that he waterproofed every two years outside to prevent rotting and used Murphy's oil on the logs inside to keep them from drying out and cracking. Where the logs joined often ended up with rot so had to be cleaned out and sealed with something I can't remember the name of but was toxic so they had to leave while it dried. Beautiful place and I would dearly love to live on Lake Superior but even if I had the money, no way.

Building this colossal buildings for 3 or 4 family members with 25 bedrooms and 3 or 5 swimming pools, it is absolute nonsense. While so many others can not to afford everyday piece of bread for themselves and their kids. In some way these owners deserved this.

Always skeptical of haunted houses, cause if they were really haunted the would be heavily studied by people who believe in that kind of thing. Mostly because I know bad things happen all over the place and I find it strange only mansions seem to get haunted, and not apartments where hundreds of people might die in.
Honestly I think it's mostly the groundskeepers or other people making up the stories so they can continue to live there.

I was floored with your story of your cat coming back to meow at you and Ducthess to let you know she was ok and in a good place. I had a Kuvasa that had to be uthenized because of lymphatic cancer. A short time later I was coming home down the dark 2 lane remote road to my house in Wyoming when I saw her sitting on the side of the road watching me as I passed. I slowed down to take a second look when all of a sudden a herd of several hundred large elk came storming across the road and I was able to stop in time to avoid a collision. My border collie was in the van with me and stood up wagging his tail as we passed Pippy on the side of the road. I was an emotional mess for the rest of the night. Love you both and much love to the DEW community.

I once worked for a family in NJ, in a huge home, the main building was all right, some repairs were needed, but other buildings outside surrounding the property were complete abandoned, even the patios or gardens were too, it has 13 rooms now I realized, they probably bought it as a bargain, but it takes too much to fix things, so at least they had the main living quarters livable for them and their two kids, she was a Scientist and he was a Dr., not sure what specialty-they were painting collectors too-had a nice pool which make the home very attractive_
