We have 5 rescued cats and bought this hoping that at least one or two of them would enjoy it. Well, after about 2 years, we have been unsuccessful in training any one of them to use it. It is a bit noisy which is a drawback for our cats and they are still more interested in chasing each other around the house. It was worthwhile taking a chance to try it. It's funny that you suggested donating a wheel that cats don't use to a rescue organization because that is exactly what I'm in the process of doing. I just need to borrow a pickup truck as you mentioned. Thank you for a very thoughtful review.
Wish I would have known this a couple weeks ago lol. Came to watch this video bc I ordered my Savannah kitten Leo one and it got here yesterday. I plan on putting it together today. Thanks for your 🤞
I do think it's worth giving your cat a chance with it. Savannahs and Bengals often tend to take to these better than other cats. Please let us know how it goes! :)
Can confirm, it does wake you up and if you are in an apartment I recommend buying treadmill noise reduction pads to put under the base. Ever since I got them I haven’t heard anything from my neighbor below me.
I have 2 brothers 1 uses it all the time night and day and Loves it. The other likes it but is lazier and only uses it often and is the same only likes to use when getting some sort of reinforcement. But I am glad to have it so I can use it to try and keep the lazier one in shape by taking some play time with him on the treadmill. Owner for 1year. cats are almost 2yrs old now.
Thank you for showing and talking honestly about this cat wheel. I have a year old wild child cat and I think she would enjoy and benefit from it as our apartment is very small and she has energy! I do plan on buying one soon, especially after watching your very helpful video. Thank you again!
One of my cats does use this all by himself. The other needs a laser pointer to get interested. Really the only issue is the cat that uses it also uses it as a scratching post and the track material is very flimsy. Maybe keeping his claws trimmed more often will help.
@@KittyHelpDesk carpet is a bad idea for cats claws because they can get caught in the carpet. There are replacement pad you can get and if you get the black ones you wont notice. I have had my cat wheel for 5 yrs. My cat is now 6 yrs old and still gets on it all the time day or night.
The small bits of foam that come off when clawed are problematic if your cat is prone to consume them. Carpet will work just fine depending on the weave and the condition of the cat's claws. An ideal material would be those large rubber floor mats that have surfaces like carpeting but no loops.
The younger you get them on it the better. One had it since he was a few weeks old and uses it all the time. The one I got it for needs convincing to use it because it's new to him and looks for the reinforcement
When Lucy was demo'ing the wheel it looks like if you put the treet higher up that Lucy might use it. Have you tried the laser or other toys they suggest?
Of course I've tried lots of toys but never lasers. I don't recommend anyone use lasers when playing with cats. It can be highly frustrating for a cat to chase something they can never catch. Many cats can even become extremely light reactive if they play with lasers, jumping at the slightest suggestion of a flash of light.
Not easily. The foam pads that are stuck down as the track surface are intended to overlap the connections between the sections to add to the rigidity of the wheel. I suppose you could cut and apply foam to each section of track prior to assembly, but I don't know how that would affect the overall sturdiness of it.
@@KittyHelpDesk Thank you. Sounds like it's best to just keep it assembled. I ordered one last night. If my cat doesn't want anything to do with it, I can just sell it locally to someone whose kitty would appreciate it. Thankfully I have a trailer bed I can deliver it with, if needed. :)
Thanks for the video. I am looking for a cat wheel for my cats. I have been scammed TWICE by fake Chinese companies, so I am seeking a reputable company to purchase from. As far as the surface goes, I saw a video where they actually suggested getting the solid black, because the foam will scratch off and the black underneath will show if you have a color or print on it. A carpet surface was not suggested, since the cats nails can get hung in the nap of the carpet.
I just got scammed by a Chinese company as well. Took forever to get Amazon to refund my money. Kept wanting me to return something I’ll never receive. I’m going to try this one. Crossing fingers toes n stuff!
Unfortunately, the only way to find out if your cat will use it is to give it a try. I hope this experience doesn't discouraging you from trying other new things for your cats.
I don't know where this wheel is manufactured, but it ships from the US if you order directly from One Fast Cat (onefastcat.com/). FWIW, several people have posted about the scammers, but none of those people were purchasing One Fast Cat wheels. I'm sorry that happened to you.
100% of cats love the box it comes in.

Like a treadmill....some ppl use them & some ppl don't.....🙂🙂🙂

Thank you sir for the review, my only concern is we do not have much room in our duplex

Thank you I just bought one of these for my kitty, hope he likes it!
I hope so! Just be patient with him. Sometimes it takes time for cats to get on board with something like this.

Yes, the treads on mine are pretty well clawed. I think it would be possible to glue down some lightweight carpet remnants or floor mats cut to size.

I took Sam to the Vet earlier this much and he was 17 lbs! He loves his treats as does Frodo

are there any good budget friendly options?
for reference i have a 2y old shorthair approx 15lb
Unfortunately, this is the least expensive version on the market. These are very large items so I doubt anyone will produce one that costs less.
@@KittyHelpDesk so not suitable for a condo?
I suppose that depends on the condo. I'm sure you can find measurements at onefastcat.com.
@KittyHelpDesk appreciate it thanks.. and since I'm still early into looking, is there good radius/width the wheel/ track should be?
Miss Lucy is 18# and she fits on the OFC wheel I have, so I expect any cat would fit on tracks that are at least 10-12" wide.
When Lucy was demo'ing the wheel it looks like if you put the treet higher up that Lucy might use it. Have you tried the laser or other toys they suggest?

Which version is this? I just ordered one and it says it's they 6th
I don't know the version number. I got mine in 2021.
Once assembled, can the wheel be disassembled?
Not easily. The foam pads that are stuck down as the track surface are intended to overlap the connections between the sections to add to the rigidity of the wheel. Yes, the foam does scratch off, but it hasn't been a huge problem so far because I keep the cats' nails trimmed. I hope your cats enjoy the wheel!
I have the “snow leopard” print on my wheel. It gives it a bit of colour.

That is my impression, perhaps kittens might play more and I notice certain breeds like Siamese and similar types use it more.
Would it be easier to train cats on a exercise wheel or something like a under the desk treadmill?
I've found the wheels to be easier, but a lot depends on the cat. There's also some risk of injury if the treadmill is motorized.
Does the plastic has a bad cent..smell??
The one I received didn't have any noticeable odors.
I bought mine and put it together! Is anyone else’s noisey every time it goes past a Gap in the pieces. I checked and it is all out together correctly
I have 20 cats, so some of them have got to like it! 🤷🏼♀️
You might need more than one!
My cat absolutely hates it and gets simply freaked out by it so for us it was an utter waste of money and very very expensive .
Unfortunately, the only way to find out if your cat will use it is to give it a try. I hope this experience doesn't discouraging you from trying other new things for your cats.
You can sell it used and get back most of the value you spent
I think I’m getting the ziggydoo Ferris wheel even tho it costs more. This brand seems very noisy.
If you do, please post a video. I'd really like to know how you like it!
Where are the wheels made? I ordered a cat wheel. I don’t know if it was this brand or not, but it turned out to be fraud from China.

Wheel easily fit in the back of a Honda CRV
Here is my cat on the wheel. th-cam.com/video/Ufie6q7VzSs/w-d-xo.html
We have five cats and most of them like it.
Try training a laser a foot 1/2 up on the center of that wheel. You might have different results….
