That’s good to hear one of your cats uses it every day! I think my siamese cat will love this. He is full of energy all the time and I feel he would take to this quickly.🐈🐱
I think the wheel is best for high-energy cats. We have an adult Abyssinian mix who uses it every day. Abyssinians need more play, stimulus, and exercise than domestic cats. We recently adopted a Bombay mix kitten. Bombays have similar play and exercise needs to Abyssinians. The kitten figured out how to use the wheel without any training from us, just from watching the other cat. Both cats now use the wheel every day. You can buy replacements for the foam liner on the running surface. It does wear out over time from the cat's claws. The wheels are the same wheels used on skateboards, and the noise is similar to someone skateboarding in your house. If you have hardwood floors, putting the wheel on a small area rug will help to mute the noise.
It's good for cats to exercise indoors.. And the color is just fitting to your cat. I sometims walk my cats with harness outside during this corona outbreak. Stay safe!
For my Ganetta (Bengal Munchkin mix) I use a packing peanut at the end of a fishing rod up and down the stairs, up to 15 times. I'm quite sure I could train her to use the treadmill over a 3 week period. Did you know treadmills were originally made for animals?
I've been giving serious consideration to buying one of these for my six cats. Unfortunately, we do not have available room inside, but we do have a catio that has room. The cats have free access during the day when we're home (we're retired and boring so they're out there almost all day when they want to be. LOL). We bring them inside, though, whenever we're not going to be home. So, all that said, I have a couple of questions: 1. Has anyone kept their wheel outside under cover and away from precipitation? If so, has there been any weather-related 'injuries' to the wheel? We live in California, southern area. 2. Has anyone experienced their cat getting a toe or foot caught in the sides, or - if a multi-cat family - other cats getting hurt while another cat is using the wheel? Thanks for considering a response. I really love the comprehensive review, too. And your cat photobombing your video - so typical! LOL
We have 2 1year old cats that have a lot of energy. They were on it from day 1. Sometimes both at the same time. Until one or both bale off the thing. Best investment for high energy cats.
:) My Alaska is that one lazy cat ! One of the other days I was thinking about this wheel and I was wondering if I should buy it ! So this video is very wellcomed for me ! Thank you.
Ok, then . . . you made this video 4 years ago but I'm just now viewing it! Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of getting one of these. Hopefully, the coupon will work by the time I get around to ordering! Oh, yeah. Maybe you could show Noah using it a bit more and closeups of the wheel now . . . 4 years later!
It’s mostly dependent on your cat’s personality and interest in going outside. Other than that it’s just training and practice. I have a video on how i walk (one of) my cats. The other one says, no thanks!
I realize that this video is several years old but I thought I'd ask you anyway since i can't seem to find an answer anywhere else! I have 5 cats and I purchased the wheel several months ago. Only 2 of my cats actually use it and that's okay. My question is this --- one of the cats that actually uses the wheel quite regularly constantly meows or "cries" while he's running on it. What in the world could this mean? Just wondering
Aaww!! My baby is a big black furry baby she looks like your guy! I got her few months ago and she was a little overweight still is and I'm in an apartment on 9th floor and this sounds perfect bc I play w her everyday but still not enough!
Hi Nina - an excellent review. Very helpful. Nice to see (and hear) you communicating vocally with your cat too, on this video. :-) Is it possible to get duplicate internal wheel liners for when the first set of foam inserts is worn out? Or can these be bought from any hobby store when replacements are required?
@@badcatfamily I like the overall design of this wheel and am considering getting it eventually for our 3 young cats (2 are 1-yr old female siamese, 1 is a 6month Ocicat male - all 3 are fully indoor cats and they run around up and down the house with zoomies but sometimes it feels like they want more running space) but would it be possible to add stick-on low-pile (short) carpet which would be more durable and scratch-proof vs the original foam it usually has? I did hear you say that their claws can snag on carpet, but in our cat household, I always make sure that our cats claws are trimmed with cat nail clippers (and sanded smooth) so I don't think they would snag on low-pile carpet.
That must be a descendant of my cat! Totally look-alike. But probably not as we live in Denmark. Mine is 13 years old. Until 1 1/2 years ago he was in good shape and everyone thought he was 5-6 years old. But then we left a house with garden and moved into a flat. The first year he was still fit, but now he is fat and can't even jump 1 meter onto a table. I really think he should have a wheel like that. Thanks for the video.
Agreed, it's a worthwhile investment for the happiness of your kitty, but holy hot damn replacing the track pads. My cat loves the feel of scratching on the pads, so when it's time to replace them it's tough. I've got 4th gen, so they only have to cheetah print but my big problem is the extreme and time consuming labor of removing the old track pads. Drops it to a 4/5 stars for me but that's still good. But UGGH MY ANGST
that meow started me (headphones) interesting device. my 5-y/o cat’s starting to get chonk and depressed. i’m hoping a wheel can help provide enrichment for her
Great little video, thanks for posting this. I had to pause the video and post a comment at 4:37. So funny (I do that with my cats too!). I've been considering getting one of these for a long time, I just hope that my 1 year olds would use it, even my 4 year old. I want for them to be as healthy as they can.
It is very loud, especially if your trying to sleep at night. Mine didn't even last a year before it no longer served its function. They run on it and it no longer stays stationary with only the wheel moving. The entire unit moves.
Have you tried replacing the wheels? (The small ones that actually spin, not the large one they run on) It could just be the bearings wearing out. You can also re-grease the bearings to hopefully bring some life back to the wheels. It's very easy to do, doesn't require any special tools or anything, probably cheaper than getting replacements, and it could reduce noise as well
Ever so slightly if they ever get going on it really fast. Being on hard flooring instead of carpet will help a lot. I totally understand the skittish cat hesitation. I care for a tiger who is scared of the scale. The others are fine with it but he thinks it’s too wobbly and spooky. It’s just practice over and over. I hope if you get one, your cat will get over any fear of it. I’m sure you make the wheel fun from the beginning.
If people are on the fence about whether their cat will use a wheel or not, I recommend getting the cardboard roll that bubble packing comes on and roll it around and see if your cat likes that. You can get bigger and bigger sizes until it matches the size of your wheel. You can then sort of judge if your cat will tolerate being inside an in closed circle
It’s definitely not a necessary item. I just enjoy spending money on cat stuff vs stuff for me. But I understand that is not suitable for everyone. That being said I have seen people be successful building their own. However even just the materials alone actually do add up. The wheels, the base, the engineering, all are actually good quality for this wheel and I’m certainly not an engineer. I personally was more confident in buying one with guaranteed quality but if you’re crafty, making one could be awesome.
@@badcatfamily I might see about making my own. It would be a fun project and if my cat liked it then that would be awseome. Or maybe they will lower the price. If i was going to spend 200 I would put it towards a ps5 lol.
I found our wheel on Facebook Marketplace second hand for only 99$. It's rare, but I wouldn't put it out of mind. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have bought the wheel and just couldn't get their cat interested in it. Keep your eyes out! :)
First off, as an apartment dweller, I’m jealous of the catio. Very lucky kitties!! As for the wheel, I would only recommend it on very flat ground so it doesn’t shift or wobble. Mine is sturdy with my 15 lb cat zooming on it, but I have it on hardwood floor. So if the ground in the catio is solid and flat, that should be great. Also, if it is not protected from rain, I think the majority of the wheel would be fine, it’s thick plastic. However, the foam pads that line the inner running track might get yucky. The bearing on the wheels are metal. So if it was exposed to rain I think I would regularly check for rust. Hope this helps 😊
@@badcatfamily I wonder if they struggled because people think they are overpriced. I kinda think they are. That's why I haven't bought one. In my mind at that price it should be VERY quiet.
I'm surprised the cat wheel doesn't have skateboarding grip tape instead of foam on the inside. I have 2 cats that live in my sk8 shop. I try to keep 1 of my cats off of my industrial sewing machine by laying the heaviest grip across it,he don't care.
So I just got one, used, and my cats will use it buuut it gets a little wobbly when they run on it. I left the wheel covers in my car but if I put them on, will it help stabilize it better?
I don’t think the wheel covers do anything to stabilize. Sounds like the floor might not be exactly level? Unless your wheel has a defect? Sorry you’re having that issue. It’s awesome your cats are using it!
Oh man. I wanna get my cat this so me n him could be buff lol but like ur review said ur other cat dont use it. My cat dont even like going out. And my cat dont even play with his toy i bought him. Sucks but i know my cat pretty well and i dont think hell use it
Is it against a wall? Could you hang a thin scratching board to the wall right behind it. Maybe they’d scratch that option over the wheel. Maybe a little catnip on the scratcher. A long shot I suppose. Do you mean spray the wheel with a yucky flavor?
have you considered low-pile (short, not shaggy) stick-on carpet tiles (if you try it, I would like to know if it works well)? I think if I were to eventually get one of these One-Fast-Cat wheels I would install low-pile carpet tiles on it instead of using the foam pads - but I keep my cats claws trimmed and sanded smooth so less likely to snag their claws on any short carpet materials.
I have 6 cat's and only my black cat uses it.... He decides that at 3 o'clock in the morning is the ideal time to use it.
Ideal. LoL
Same. Two cats and only one uses it, but she uses it early in the morning when she decides it’s time for her to be fed.

So true! It does match Noah. We have started back up with outdoor walks. Just not as frequent as before. So cool you’re a cat walker too!!
For my Ganetta (Bengal Munchkin mix) I use a packing peanut at the end of a fishing rod up and down the stairs, up to 15 times. I'm quite sure I could train her to use the treadmill over a 3 week period. Did you know treadmills were originally made for animals?
would love to see what that peanut-stairs trick looks like
omg a munchkin bengal?!? Where on earth did you find such a gem!?!
Do you have a new code for 2024? I definitely want you to get affiliate credit because this video sold it for me.
foam exercise pad under the base will help ur neibor... soft rubber wheels for rollers will help ur noise also and keep ur bearings greesed
I’m definitely going to implement that suggestion of the foam pad! Great idea
When training, try using a laser pointer on the wheel's vertical sides to encourage the cat to walk.
