This is truly fantastic advice and something that applies to many games, especially older Unreal Engine games. You push the FPS and get very unpredictable results.
This is gold!..I have tried every setting for years...from graphics settings to NVIDIA settings to changing values in the Config.cfg file...nothing worked like these two simple settings as well as the 59hz refresh rate in-game change. Thank you very much for this! I'm using a Lenovo Y740 Gaming Laptop with an RTX2070 Max-Q GPU and a 60hz external monitor...my game looks and runs perfectly now at 300% scaling and 60FPS.
Thanks sir, spot on and GL for 10k.
helpful as always game is running so much better
Thanks f9r sharing these tips, definitely going to improve overall game play
Thanks for this video! We appreciate it!
i´m going straight to the point, I love you!
Just an update about using these two excellent settings. I have recently added an external 24 inch monitor 1080P @ 60hz to my Gaming Laptop and I am able to run my game at 400 % scaling and everything on HIGH in the graphics settings (I turn SSAO and Antialiasing OFF) my game is running butter smooth at 60FPS across the map...it also works the same in ETS2!..Many thanks to Mike...you gained a loyal subscriber here my man.
very helpful i was getting upwards of 170 FPS and still had the issue with studder now thats its locked at 60 FPS smooth as butter thanks again Mike
Good information Mike. Thanks!
I personally would love to see a ATS2 with a better engine. But until then great advise. This realy cleaned up my game. Thanx
Thank you so much or this. Literally game changing !!!
good information mike! thank you buddy
Thanks mike this really helped me ❤
Holy COW! this fixed render problems (when incoming traffic graphics pops from polygon to good) and I always had this "slow-mo" effect sometimes., now it's gone
Thanks! It helped me a lot.
I done this everything you done and I’m staying at 55 instead of like 25-30 so I’m pleased lol
I've been doing it this way since the beginning. 😅 but great Video 👍
Been trying to fix my stuttering issue for awhile but couldn’t. After doing these 2 things & bumping up the scaling to 300% it’s incredible now. This is with a 4070ti. Thanks so much for making this video.
Thanks I just got the game last night and downloaded it on my windows 11 laptop but my frame rate was garbage so it was hard to play the game without it lagging and stuttering while I was driving
Thanks mate, it runs great on my rtx 3060ti, I was only getting fps drops in the city. Seems to be fine now. Only problem is now my PC sounds like a Boeing 747 lol
lol it is the other way arround with my rtx3060ti , before as soon i got in the game my pc sounded like a boeing 747, and now with capping at 60 fps its much cooler and so much quieter
Man thank you so much! This literally fixed the stuttering issue I was having my game is running so smooth now! Your the best buddy!
Your PC will run much hotter as well!!! Great job again bud 👍
do you have any tips for AMD GPU's? I don't have an Nvidia
❤awesome video great content❤❤
This helped a lot, thanks Mike!
Late to the show but thanks man. I totally forgot I can run Nvid settings lol. Was playing with 160 fps for a looong time hahah.
First congrats on almost 10k subs
At the end of summer of 2024 they made a statement that they will be enhancing the performances and engines since while they add more DLCS they need to make sure that everybody can play
thank you.
thank you so much for the help on the gpu performance i do have a question ? will this help when i upload videos in 1080p look smoother .?
You need the Snowymoon TAA mod too.
Then run at 200 percent of rez.
What truck ans trailer mod is that? Also great and helpful video!
ty for the good advice, my GPU is now +/- 45 Degrees and the CPU arround the 53 if i'm correct :) i have a rtx3060ti
before my pc sounded like a boeing 747, and now its so much quieter
that seems to have worked. for the first time ever my gtx 960 isn't struggling with the 95 mods I'm running. now I just gotta find a way to smooth out shadows and reflections, cause every time I look at the ground it fees like I'm playing Doom 1
In config.cfg adjust the following:
uset r_sun_shadow_texture_size "8192"(or even 16384) (from the default 4096)!
Will this work on AMD graphics cards as well. I've had a shuttering and lagging issue for awhile now. And I have about 66 mods that I normally run. Game runs fine on the mod maps but when I am in the base game map I always crash to the desktop. Thanks for the help!
Hey Mike! Do you have vsync enabled in the NVIDIA control panel?
What about playing in vr? What should the settings be?
What do i do if i dont have the nvidia control panel
Also tip scs is no longer supporting any windows version under 10 after Jan 1 2024
Can you fix the sky high GPU usage when alt tabbing out of the game? The Dev has been "working on it" since 2019 according to forum posts. How many expansions since then?
Love this video I do have a question now that the game has updated to 1.50 how do you do this reason I'm asking is because now the game has frame limit with in the graphics settings.
Well game engine is the same, so I've kept the 60 FPS locked, but the background I max 400
I need to try see if it works for me 🙂
Did something change since this video was made? Im running the game with maxed out graphics settings and 400% scaling and its running buttery smooth around 200 fps on my 3440x1440 widescreen monitor. Setting the game to 60 like that makes it feel horrible, slow and a blurry mess when you pan the camera around. The game engine works just fine at higher framerates and sub 6 ms fametimes. If people are getting stuttering issues, it sounds like they are limited by a slow CPU single core througput. (Not to be confused with 100% CPU utilization. That is something entirely different.)
I'm more curious on the custom reflection detail you got going on, curious on what you changed it too
Shhh 4
@@MikePettGaming thanks
it still didn't help fix. can you help? when I run OBS it drops in the game. and it never did before!
First off thanks for all you do bud, as a trucker myself this game is amazing. So i tried your settings, and i'm still getting 50-55fps in cab. But when i'm in above camera{outside}it's 60 fps. Im running triple 1440p monitors and a 3080ti. No problem with 130 fps on racing titles. Any other suggestions. Also running about 28 mods all in the right order. Thanks Mike!
The game engine can’t handle the newer cards and when it it goes over 60 fps it actually hurts. Some of the newer games that you may be playing are multi core and can handle all the goods of the 3080!
@ModdedATS okay thanks! I'll just keep your settings in this video and live with the 55 fps lol. Still looks good, appreciate it
@@Schmitty4564 won’t see much of a difference with the 55/60 you’ll be good. Even I drop to 45 in some cities but will have over 200 in warzone 😂
Dang strange idk how you guys are getting such bad performance? I have a 2070super and everything maxed I get over 100fps all the time ?
I have resolution to 300% and reflections at 200% too at 1440p
I have an hp all in one how do i acess that
i have widow 11 i just cant find where u are changing those settings
when i let off the gas the truck slows down a ton how can i stop that?
I don't have 59hz it only gives me 60hz or 144hz I enabled the overlay in steam but still it's not showing up at the top left corner
Is this for Nvidia only??
Hey Mike thanks for the video does ETS2 work in the same way. I mean do I have find the ETS2 profile.
Yes!
The picture turns out jerky at 59Hz than by 144hz. Limiting the frame rate is enough, but why touch the
How do you stretch your truck
what do I do if I have an AMD GPU?
Well, this does nothing for me since I play on a laptop…
Guess it’s time to upgrade the entire rig! Lol!
Let’s goooo
I have a pretty good system that ran ATS at 140 fps in cities and on highway, then all of the sudden it bogged down to 47 in cities and 60 on highways. I removed mods and did a reinstall of the game and did what this video showed but im still getting the same stuff. I’ve done bios updates too but that did nothing. It just feels really random
The game can’t handle anything over 60. It’s like filling a water 10oz bottle of water with a gallon of water and it just can’t handle. ( right now ) some cities and such in the game will generate lag. That’s just is what it is. However, if you drop 50-60 range on average you will not notice much of a difference!
How do i get a better draw distance to stop everything in front of me from just popping in
Hello friend, what you want to do is goto the config.cfg file, look for g_lod_factor_parked and g_lod_factor_traffic. Those may be at 1.0 which is a super short draw distance, try setting those at 10.
What is your refresh rate for the monitor in nvidia control panel? Do I set it the same as in game?
Did u? Just started having tearing first time on ATS. I'm on amd radeon 6600 with 200Hz monitor
@@CodyWGaming30 No leave it at highest available
Well…i have a problem,i use trackir and i tried 60fps,it seemed to be smoother yes and more stable but now the game is a blurry mess, whenever i look around in any direction even in the slightest it blurs like all hell and i cant figure out anything to solve the problem,at 120 its not too bad but its spikey frfr but the screen is very clear and not blurry at all
Hmm 🤔 I’ve used both TrackIR 5 and Tobii. I’ll do some digging to see if we can help ya out!
@@MikePettGaming thank you sir!!!
What if I have a and graphics card?
Fortunately their engine is still better than Bethesda's. Go above 100 fps on Skyrim and the entire physics engine dies. Helpful video thank you
Nvidia users: applying the Sharpen+ game filter at 10-20% intensity makes the game pop a little bit more
fallout 3's engine is unstoppable though lol it will never crash
Never played it I'll have to test that theory
I can't do 59hz it's only 144hz and 60hz for me I'm only here because pizzter modding great support system💯💯💯💯 love they work!!!!
Something's still screwed up with mine
was this made right after the stream
No lol but same profile
Hiya mate, I’ve done this both on ats = 34fps and ETS = 57fps both on same settings! I don’t understand how I’ve not got the same result also using a (GTX 1650-OC 4GB) any help would be appreciated. Thanks
57 is still wonders. Problem is once you hit 61 it becomes more of a negative. 50-60 is great !
@@MikePettGaming but also on ATS I only get 34FPS following these steps so I’m not sure
you think its possible to get more fps outta my laptop not a gaming laptop tho
Can i achieve 60fps on rx 550 4gb
I've tried all these and the game still didn't run right. The ultimate solution for me was to set the application to only use one or two cores. When this game was created it was not designed for the level of multithreading that CPU's can handle now and thus this causes threads to get out of sync. I have changed my system to only use 4 threads/2 CPU's for this game and now ATS runs smooth as can be at the highest settings across the board. Before this the game would stutter on the lowest settings possible.
Hey I have done the same n it still stutters no matter what I do how did u fix urs
@@blazinduke7117 I was able to fix mine by telling the game to only use 2 core/4 threads because it seems the game wasn't designed for a lot of multi-threading. When a lot of tasks are multi-thread then the processes seem to end up out of order and the game stutters. You can set the number of threads by doing the following:
1) start the game.
2) open task manager while the game is running and click on the details tab.
3) find the amtrucks.exe in the list and right click on it.
4) you will now see some option and one is set affinity. Click this.
5) You should now see a list of all the CPU's (actually threads) you have. Uncheck all but 4. It really doesn't matter which for but I chose 0-3.
6) Switch back to the game and play stutter free.
Unfortunately you will have to do this every time you play unless you can find some software that allows you to retain this change, you create a macro or you edit the registry.
also i have 13 year old GPU GTX 760, will this be good to run like that
Should!
@@MikePettGaming Thank you for the response
I have an issue:
In the Nvidia control panel, maximum frame rate is missing.
Is it a graphic card thing or something else?
What GPU are you using
@@MikePettGaming Nvidia GeForce 210
@@mmvolnutt64 you have one of the oldest graphics cards of all time friend, highly doubt you can even run ats in low settins
Was I just the 10k sub? Said 9.99k now its 10k!
Can't get 60 fps all the time at 4K even with a 4080.
The CPU is soooooooh limiting.
I gotta say. Idk why anyone would lock a game at any FPS. Unless you just can’t run the game. I have everything maxed and have resolution at 300% and reflections at 200% and I get like 120fps at 1440p
This game is very very easy to run?
same here.. no stuttering at 1440 with always 100+ fps in highest settings
Nope, it shutters in many @@Jonusbiker
I play this on a laptop. Yes, I can run it at max settings 1440p with triple digit frames, but I cap the frame rate to keep the fan noise down.
when i go in game my two options or default or 120Hz nothing else
Default id do and make sure the other setting is locked
Yo mike
Hello...can i also to this in ETS2?
Yes
Do u have to put it to 60 FPS can u put it higher?
You can put it at 10,000 lol but the game can’t not understand anything over 60. It tries to and actually hurts your performance
how did u get ur fps to show in ats?
Through Steam
Hiya mate, I’ve done this both on ats = 34fps and ETS = 57fps both on same settings! I don’t understand how I’ve not got the same result also using a (GTX 1650-OC 4GB) any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Any idea how this works with VR? I play ATS in a reverb G2 that has both 60hz and 90hz settings. Never really fiddled with it for ATS specifically, but now I'm tempted to do what this vid says and lock the reverb to 60hz too and see how it looks. Anyone else already tried this?
I wondering the same thing? Have you noticed and difference?
Is 59hz and 60hz the same thing
Basically
I made the changes thats in the video but in my game settings it only goes to 30hz is that going to be a problem? Im only getting 20 to 25 fps
Your monitor settings are the in game settings. So you must have a 30hz monitor. If that’s so try and make the control panel max at 30
@@MikePettGaming ok. Thank you
I run on the SteamDeck. This vid does nothing for me.
I use amd graphics
If you have a program that does what the Nvidia control panel does. ( your resolution etc ) should see some of the same stuff. I’ll look into ad well!
this works for ETS 2 too?
I tried this but it lagged more
But I think because my pc was cold
Yep it’s better now
lol so much for amd users wouldve been nice if you said in the title that this is for nvidia suckers
MACBOOK PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🤣
This is what I hate about this game....you have to dummy down your pc for it to run property. I can't wait until this thing gets a new graphics engine...it will nice to have it use multiple cores instead of using only one. That is the major issue with ats....that's why Intel cpu's work better then AMD cpu's.
