    Magical. The space, warmth and depth is unparalleled. Push the input and you’re in light fuzz territory.

    It is unbelievable that in the 80s, these early pedals were then taken as the sound of lack of technology. The high tech stuff was the ultimate thing. What an incredible turn of events.

    Dude, CE-1’s are magic. The preamp and randomization of the modulation on the ones I’ve tried (I’ve played 3 or 4) is awesome.
    Hope you guys are well, all my love!!!

      @@TSFAHTPS everything’s good--currently in a tent out camping with the kids for cubs scouts (though we’ll see how I feel tomorrow after sleeping on the ground, lol). Just staying busy with kids, work and band (show next Saturday, EP being mixed), so all in all it’s much the same as usual.

    Always wanted one, did have a JC-55, but I traded it to a jam mate, and he eventually sold it. Wish I still had it. Beautiful chorus and vibrato.

    I worked at a Pro shop when the Jazz Chorus Amp came out and we got one in and it sold so we got another and the pedal as well. There was very little interest because it was expensive. It all changed when the CH-2 pedal came out.That took off very quickly. It is interesting to note that often a product failed because it came out when another totally unrelated product came out. Like pedals died because the hot thing to get that year was to spend that money on a new company DiMarzio, lol.

    powerfull preamp and i really got used to it fast, excellent combination for 100w big tube amps, ce1 doubles the punch you cant have with amp on its own thats near cranked even, besides Frusciantes sound, ce1 can help you get Pink Floyd guitar sound , powerfull hiwats sound. Vibrato is a gem on ce1.

    That is an awesome pedal- I'm sure they cost a small fortune though, as iconic as they are. I kept hearing tones from old 80s and early 90s music as you guys were playing- Tears for Fears had to have used one of these because at one point you had the "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" tone nailed 110%. That preamp is one of the best boosts I've ever heard as well- I've got to get one of these.

    Great review! I bought this effect, it sounds beautiful, but is it normal to hear a wobbling noise while playing in the background? It disappears only when the strings are muted. The intensity and speed of the noise increases as you turn up the chorus knob. When switched to vibrato, the noise is much less audible

    • @nostro1001
      @nostro1001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stoneysdead689 Eh... Yup... Never paid much attention to pedal 'looks'.. But I should have written my initial comment more clearly. 'Thing' was meant to refer to the size of the 'thing'...way too much real estate, for a pedal that's likely used sparingly by many (chorus). And 'looks' was referring to the beat up and rusty look that just has this vibe against today's modern pedals, but otherwise meaningless.
      Cheers man. 👍

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nostro1001 This is not a pedal that's used sparingly- it's one you literally can't turn off- the preamp is always on even if the chorus and the vibrato is off- and it's the preamp that makes it so good. It produces that beautiful "edge of breakup" tone that you hear so many guys talk about- then they stack distortion over that, chorus at times, etc.- and if they want a truly clean sound, no grit at all- they just back off the volume on their guitar.
      The size doesn't bug me at all- I don't use many pedals, so I've got plenty of room. It's the price that stops me- but there's a great clone on the market that goes for about 150-200 bucks that they're going to do a demo on soon- I'm probably going to buy one if I can. These original units go for around 700 bucks and were used on tons of the hit singles and gold albums throughout the 80s and 90s. Mixing chorus with distortion gives you an almost fuzz like, really aggressive lead tone. It's not just for clean, laid back, glassy sounding rhythms.
