      Just a question, is it essential or do you need to learn to create a website/software in cyber security, or just know how they works?

    Right now i'm working as a cyber security analyst in the red team, and I got offered a job to be a Security Engineer where the salary is almost double.. It's hard to choose because my favorite part of security is the offensive side, and I know that being a security engineer the priorities and responsibilities are different

    For my org, we have analysts, engineers and architects. Not sure if that is very unusual or not because it’s my first org that I’ve been apart of.
    Anyway I’ve been enjoying all of your videos, keep it up!

      Wow I feel the same way bc this is my first role out of college so I'm always left wondering if it's just my company or all companies lol, but I think it varies pretty widely depending on the size of the company specifically, thanks so much for the support Caroline! :)

    One other thing I have noticed while looking to get into either Software Engineering or Cybersecurity Engineering is that Software Developers are different than Software Engineers, like they do most of the same thing but for Engineers are paid more and handle most technical tasks. This might be more conjecture but I think companies post jobs that should have the title as software engineer into software developer to pay people less

    thank you so much for the video!!
    would you consider doing an analyst vs compliance and assurance role?

    • @WithSandra
      @WithSandra  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ketki! Yeah since i'm earlier in my career i'm really just learning as much as possible but compliance/assurance is a lot more process/rules heavy so you may be spending a lot of time looking at existing processes, ensuring teams are following them, etc so I'd make sure this is sometthing you'd really be interested in, good luck! :)

    I'm 21 years old, looking to join the Navy to get the Security Engineer job and eventually transition into the civilian jobs. I did my fair share of research. Do you or anybody in the comments think it's a good road map ?

    The video is so helpful cause right now I'm thinking about changing my major from communication and computer engineering to cyber security engineer and I was wondering what is the difference between the 2 roles that you mentioned I read a statement that said that cyber security engineer is a senior analyst but I think it's not accurate
    Thank you ❤❤

      Hi Shiv! Not necessarily, I'm working in a cyber security engineer role and never touch networking but i'm sure there are some that do, it's definitely more niche but some companies might have the same general title for all cyber/network sec engineers

    Can a 30 yrs old with low level of math study and become a cyber security engineer?

    • @WithSandra
      @WithSandra  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Of course! :) It'll take some studying and learning how to use some popular tools out there for cyber roles, enrolling in a bootcamp, learn 1-2 popular coding languages, and creating some connections/networking at different meetup or b-side events (which are usually free!), and you'll rarely if ever use math as a cyber security engineer lol so def don't worry about that one!
