Are ethical hacking jobs or other jobs flexible? Are there part-time jobs? In which jobs do I have to communicate with other people and not sit on a chair for 8-9 hours per day?
I’m a double major in mis with an information security track and business analytics. I’m in my second year in college and I’m worried Because I see most in this field are cs majors or cyber security majors. Can I break into cyber security with my current set up and is my double major desirable?

Ahh you should look into Cyber threat intelligence! They focus on working with CIA/FBI level intelligence with diff nation states, cyber hacks, attacks, etc which could be an awesome way to pivot into cyber! Good luck Cindy :)
The roles are pretty similar but in bigger companies they're split out into different teams since they work on different things, SOC analysts usually work on incidents or issues that come up while Blue team works on the BAU of making sure the network perimeter/apps are secure and working with the red team/purple team functions. Security analysts are even broader because that was my title when I just joined my role but I did software dev stuff and pentesting lol, so sometimes it's used as a generic beginner entry level cyber role but other times it's basically a SOC analyst, thanks for bringing this up!
I really want to be a Security engineer. I was thinking once I finish my bachelor's in cybersecurity, I would try going for some certificate training programs for coding to improve my coding skills, then try to go for a masters in AI and Machine learning to solidify the entirety of my knowledge. In my eyes that would pave a proper path way for me to get into security engineering. Any opinion on this? :O
Wow thats so cool Haseeb! A masters can definitely open many doors for you esp in AI/ML, but if you're looking for security engr roles, I think even a BS in Cyber would be enough to get an entry level role or if you can do an internship(or apprenticeship like you mentioned!) to ensure you're able to at least have that hands on sec engr experience on your resume before going back to school! Hey Carlos! There's lots of cyber roles that're 100% remote now so I can't name any that'll always be for sure remote based on a specific role but I'd stay away from networking, data center, infrastructure, hardware/firmware, maintenance, digital forensics type roles bc these roles often times need to deal with physical tech components that need you in the office and are less flexible with remote work. You could also look into People engineering/roles that focus on phishing type campaigns that go around trying to hack into physical buildings too which are really cool! Good luck Carlos :D
hello, as I watch your videos, found out something that will ne organize in increasing my skills! I have applied to FAANG University Grad 4 months ago, and unexpectedly got a reply recently. What I should do in my preparation, because I am really nervous for the whole day about coding. All of my coding skills are low due to no require in interviews for local companies. So, what can you suggest?
i think you got the red team and pentest definitions switched around. pentesting is more tryna hack into anything and everything including the building itself to try and find vuln while red team is more focused on hacking the website and getting root (HTB type hackers). correct me if im wrong

Hi Daniel, this really depends on the company you're going into but from the US to UK would be relatively easier of a transfer since all the security frameworks/skillsets/tools are being used the same way in both countries under different government entities. Good luck!!

That's so awesome Ria! It really depends on which roles you want in cyber but the most common ones are around pentesting or ethical hacking so if this is something you want to consider, you should practice on hackthebox/tryhackme/different CTFs for free pentesting experience and download Kali Linux to learn some basic linux commands and try to learn how to use those common hacking tools to put on your resume, there's lots of coursera/MOOC courses you can take for free online too but I'd reccommend the Security+ cert since that really gave me the foundations of my security background, I have a vid on how I passed that cert exam here: th-cam.com/video/HLDZFJLbcAw/w-d-xo.html Good luck Ria! :)
I've noticed in smaller/medium sized companies they're usually the same role but in bigger companies where there is more team structure/separation of duties, SOC analysts and security analysts are separate roles, a security analyst can be very broad and do things an SOC analyst could do but they could also be more involved in finding vulnerabilities/things that closer resemble a pentester, though I'd read the company's job description of qualifications so see what your actual responsibilities are, thanks for the question! :)
