They didn't The way they index the cutter isn't the same as the Henderson While the motor placement and bracketing are the same design, you don't have a ton of options while trying to still be efficient cost wise
@@mikedoyle7020 There’s a reason to not have a micrometer adjustment on the Henderson. The lock nut and Allen bolts can be set for different trim lengths.
@ I understand how the Henderson works but you are relying on a screw and locknut to make fine adjustments. Are you suggesting you are good enough to make adjustments down to .001” with a screw and no point of reference?
I would be embarrassed to “release” a knockoff of a Henderson trimmer. I don’t care what the price is of this knock off, I would not buy it. I’ll pay double, triple if I have to in support of a small business that builds the original version. Just lost respect for Hornady. If they want to revolutionize case trimming, come up with your own original design, not copy one. Pathetic
Hornady are expert cartridge copiers and renaming it as something different. This case trimmer is rinse and repeat of most of what they "develope." (COPY)
A massive corporation doing this to someone like Henderson makes me sad. The only improvement is the micrometer. I get that it's legal, but it absolutely is not right. I'm with the other commenter, I'll pay for the Henderson 10 times out of ten
Nice case trimmer. Guys saying it's the same as a Henderson, it's not, looks much better. Definitely not the same as the Henderson. A direct drive motor, and better case length adjustments.
Unfortaulay the "21 Sharp" is the wrong solution. It would have been much better to make a .204 standard dimension with a fast twist for non-lead. and I'm sorry, that "2` Sharps" projectile design is very poor.
They could have accomplished the same thing that .21 Sharp achieves by using a shortened version of the .22 WMR case. Could have used barrel blanks and bullets that already exist, but nooooo, we're going to create a caliber that's going to be gone next year because they made it as hard as possible to start manufacturing firearms and ammunition in the caliber.
It's a good idea, in theory. The problem is that I don't think Winchester is capable of making .21 Sharp ammo that shoots better than anything that SK, Eley, Lapua or RWS is already making in .22LR, and that .21 Sharp ammo is significantly more expensive than mediocre .22LR ammo. In practice, I don't really see a benefit unless someone good at rimfire steps up to make ammunition. Agree the shortened .22WMR case would be better from a supply chain perspective
I think the idea is for hunters in an area with lead bullet bans easily swapping to a lead free cartridge. Going back and forth between .22LR to .21Sharp would only require a barrel swap. No need for new bolts, actions, or magazines.
@@efrenmolinar8145 Like I said; they could have had copper bullets with a shortened .22 WMR case. I'd even bet you could safely (but not ideally) fire .22 LR from that chamber, and a quick ream on existing firearms would make for a really fast, cheap conversion. .21 Sharp is a dumb idea thought up by dumb people.
I reload 6.5 creed saving 50% and getting like 60% better performance than match ammo. Hornady Match 140 shoots with an SD of 27 over 50 rounds for me. My target reloads in Hornady recycled brass (that I dont even clean I just load em again) shoots 6.7 SD over 100 rounds. My Alpha brass reloads have 100 fps more velocity, SD of 4.3 over 50 rounds, cost half as much as factory and have 70% smaller group sizes at 300 yards. Plus reloading is fun and you learn a whole lot more about how guns actually work than you would believe.
So they copied a henderson precision🤣🤣
They must have bought the design or something because that’s an exact match 😮

They actually improved on the Henderson design and fixed the one flaw that it has by adding the micro adjust feature.

The Henderson trimmer is $439.00. On MidwayUsa the Hornady copy is listed at $619.00. I'll save almost $200.00 and buy the original.
I think they all steal ideas from each other for years
@@rdsii64the cost of the trimmer you described does NOT come with the motor. The Henderson Trimmer with motor is around $780

Hornady Methhead Defense ammo 😮😂
That’s the best lol. You’ll get multi hits bc it penetrates deep.
thats Hendersons design

two items are "the best new reloading gear"? Click bait !
wow...hornady straight out stole Henderson trimmer design......
So every rifle maker since 1807stole Reverend Alexander Forsyth 's percussion ignition rifle design?
So you Can't shoot 21 sharp through 22lr barrels?
Exactly what I was wondering.
Is that H for Henderson? Even the same color damn.
Did I miss all of the reloading gear or was the one item it??

Not munch reloading stuff cover. 21sharp in dangerous game pistol ammo toss in different video.
A quick price check on reloading components, it's cheaper to just buy factory made bullets off the shelf and not waste time.
Highly depends on caliber. 9mm and 5.56 you wont save alot but something like 45-70 you can save over a dollar per round.
you can either shoot what they want you to shoot or shoot what you want to shoot.
Maybe for you. I save about $1 a round for the 223 ammo I load. And it shoots better than any factory I’ve tried.

Compare .204 Ruger factory rounds to handloads, handloads way cheaper.
Geez -baby Henderson trimmer! What the heck is wrong with you hornady you guys are better than that, or were!
HOW MUCH??? FOR THE HORNADY TRIMMER.
So where’s all the best new RELOADING gear? What a crappy video
They made the Henderson trimmer better!
They made it more compact - removed the belt by the looks of it, but the click adjustable micrometer is nice! 👌
Prepare for a lawsuit from Henderson! 😂😂
Had me curious if they had bought the rights or something
@@TomColontonioI am sure the legal department at Hornady has figured out what is and isn’t a patent infringement.
I'd rather give my money to the little guys producing quality products and not just ripping someone off and off shoring the manufacturing.
