SUMMARY
-When entering a public bathroom, always look around and pay attention to any coat hooks you see. Hidden inside these hooks are tiny discrete cameras capable of capturing not only still pictures but recorded footage as well.
-Amazon and eBay offer such cameras to anyone willing to pay, and they cost less than 10 bucks.
-Since these tiny spy cameras are wireless, they can be recorded remotely. This means that somebody has a remote control which is also wireless and works through walls.
-Some clear signs a hook is a spying device are: it’s a double hook attached to the wall where it’s of no use, and you notice some blinking light on it.
-Coat-hook cameras are supposed to be for home security.
-Since 2016, there have been several cases in Florida of these tiny cameras being discovered in public bathrooms and rest areas. A 2015 case in England made headlines when a young woman spotted a hidden camera recording her while she was taking a shower in her hotel.
-A survey conducted by the Which? Group found that eight of the fifteen devices you use on a regular basis including TVs, baby monitors and even toys can be hacked.
-Always change default passwords and log-ins to devices that are connected to the Internet. Use sticky tape to cover microphones and cameras on these gadgets so that cyber-criminals can't see what you're doing and eavesdrop on your personal life.

I have an amazing tip I learnt from my dad. Whenever you step into a public restroom, trial room or anywhere the sort, open your phone camera or any battery operated camera and run the lens across the room. If you ever get a sudden flash of red light, there's a camera in the room and you need to call the police. This happens as the wavelengths from the two cameras, yours and the hidden one superimpose to give rise to a new wavelength in the Infrared region. Hit a like when you acknowledge this so I know the message went across. Stay safe, people! 👍

Aranya Nandi You can also check your remote controls with your phone camera this way if you think one is faulty. Aim the remote back toward the phone lens and keep your eye on the remote's front end on your screen as you press any button on the control. Your phone screen will light up when hit by the infrared beam if it’s good👍
Also, you can place a finger on the mirror in any public restroom or changing room. If the reflection touches your finger, it's a genuine mirror. But if they don't, it's a two way mirror and somebody's watching on the other end! Call the police immediately. Hit a like so I know this message went across you. Stay safe.

My grandma once told me an interesting fact: to see if the mirror in your hotel room is real or is a window, put your finger on it. If you see a little space between the finger and the reflection, then it's real. If your finger touches the reflection, then it's a window. If it's a window, either someone is watching you, or a camera is put behind the mirror.. I use that in every situation of being in a public bathroom and I thought I can share it with you guys.

Well BRIGHT SIDE, Just want to thank you. I was at Walmart shopping for toilet paper and I guess the look of that aisle made me have to go number 2 very badly. So I go into the bathroom and I'm putting toilet paper on the seat cause we all know how clean Walmart bathrooms are. I look up and see a coat hook. I immediately run out and scream for someone to call 911. The cops come and put me in jail for indecent exposure because I ran out with my pants around my knees. Anyways, it was actually a coat hook. ;)

Nowadays you need to do the same searching in your hotel and apartment, looking after hidden camera or microphone... we need the counter technology too, we should be able to buy some kind of scanning device which could detect small electric objects. Considering how the cameras and drones get smaller, we definitely will need counter technology against these threats.

Here's something I found out while browsing TH-cam!
Hidden camera detector apps are available on your Android or iPhone or at a neighborhood security store. A hidden camera detector can find a camera anywhere no matter how well it's hidden. You just press the button, it shoots a little IR beam and you can see the reflection of any camera lens.

If it has 2 hooks, then it's most likely to be a spy camera BUT to make sure, it would be blinking or if it's not in a place where it wouldn't be any use. If it isn't a spy camera even after all of this, then it would just be an awkward moment lol, but if they dont understand then its good if you show them the video but first you explain as much as you can like if its blinking and everything.
