Thank you so much for this. I successfully saved an almost rootless phal with your sphagnum moss in tupperware container and bag method. It grew 8 new roots and is doing well now. I am so happy.
Hello! I’m not new to orchid growing but I am a new subscriber and new to trying to get my orchid to flourish vs in survival mode. I admit I’ve managed to keep a few alive for years, but they slowly succumbed to the inevitable . I’m an experimenter myself and find your orchid videos inspiring! Thank you for your sharing your successes and experience with your plants!
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. What happened to the flower spike that you put in the container with the orchid? You had put keiki paste on its nodes. Was it successful?
CLEVER EMAAN!! 👏👏 So in fact you use the dry wet method with bag, stagnum moss and root hormone. I tried with a baby phal but it didn’t have much stem left, anyway it failed and the roots were too floppy so it couldn’t manage the stress and I gave up. I’m a new subscriber and very pleased to have found you! Since your last video on the subject I ordered and finally got potassium permanganate today because I think it is a better disinfectant and cleaner than peroxide (as you showed us). I still have two phals (cheap supermarket) but their roots are better and I didn’t cut the filaments: their flowers had fallen and buds blasted, floppy leaves but.. now better with tiny little new green growths on the tip of their stems (have put them in loose stagnum and CalMag), so hope they get other new baby growths on their stems. I have a super good orchid from a garden centre with enormous blooms but it is too heavy for the pot (keeps falling over!). Do I have to wait for it to stop blooming to change the pot (it’s in bark)? Afraid to change its pot.. Thank you I love your videos, Kate
+Kate Beedot welcome to my channel!🎈❤️🌺Thank you for watching and being my subscriber. If that orchid which is in bark is doing great you don’t need to replant it. You can place it in a decorative pot and it will not fall . Some of my orchids which I bought last year are still sitting in the bark medium with which they came from the store. But I took out the plugging. It is not always necessary to replant the new orchids if there is nothing wrong with roots and medium.
Where can I get free Orchards? My Garden Store won’t give any away, they prefer to throw them away, what a shame. Amann, thank you for your videos, you are a great teacher, I will definitely follow your order and especially you. Thanks again
+brendaNFarmville Hi, if you don’t have growing light you have to keep it in bright and warmer place. Otherwise it will get mold and decay. It has to see sun but not direct sun or you can put under a lamp. You are always welcome
Hello. I like your videos. My orchid is in same condition as yours. I did the same way you did to your orchid in green house. My orchid get fungus I clean with Hydrogen peroxide but it get fungus again. What should I do to save my orchid?
I will have to find perforated plastic wrap in my local Walmart or other retailers and try this with half dead orchid I brought from my local Walmart. It has lost all its leaves. The garden center doesn’t like to mark down dying plants on clearance, they place them all on a rack inside the garden center. I guess that’s what they be doing, throwing all dead plants away in their dumpster. I don’t see how they would be able to return them to local grower’s nursery they buy all their plants from. Thanks for sharing progress orchid has made under your care.
+Emaan's Orchids. Emaan I LOVE your videos and I'm learning so much from you!! Thank you so much for this video, it came just in time!! One of my mini Phals had complete root rot and I cut off all the rotted roots not knowing I can leaving pieces of healthy roots on. Question.... I don't have sphagnum moss but I do have Spanish moss, can I use this moss and if not can I still use the river rocks as you mentioned? Thank you for any advice, I really want to save it!!😢
+Aida F. Thank you very much for watching and commenting. Yes, you can you any kind of moss. I use Spanish moss also. It works great. But don’t leave water under the moss. That moss decays if it sits in water. Just keep it moist. Good luck! I believe you can do it.
Emaan, how lucky you are to have learned so much from your mother about plants and their propagation. You mentioned you are currently studying. Probably too personal a question but just wondering if you're studying botany or horticulture or some kind? You'd make a wonderful teacher. Thanks again for posting all your expertise so we can learn to keep our plants healthy. I'm binge-watching your videos!

In one apple tree she grows 5 kinds of apples. It is just amazing. Thank you for reminding me my mom. I don’t study any botany or horticulture. I don’t even know the names of plant parts. I just know from my experience how to grow them. You are always welcome. 🌺😊

Great progress on that orchid. Is the moss wild in your area. In other words did you pick it from the wild or did you buy it somewhere. Perhaps I missed it in a previous video.
+Lucythecat thank you. That moss is from the store. I used that sphagnum moss to my orchid medium in my previous video . I didn’t like that moss at all. Because so many things in it. Now I am using that moss for green house. For planting I don’t prefer that kind.

+Μαρία Σιμών thank you! Yes you can do the same with your vanda. Or can do the other way which I showed in other video. I will give you the link for that video.
+Sandy Crews I don’t think so. Because I already tried and it didn’t work with vandas. If you have rootless vanda the best way to root it is dunk it in water ( with leaves and stem the whole plant) for the night. And during the day hang it. That way they root better. Orchids grow roots when they think that they are thirsty and nobody is giving them water. You give it water during the night and hang it during the day time. Don’t cut the stem. Don’t peel the leftover dry leaves. Just hang it. Hope this will help you.
x Emaan Emaan's Garden Thank you!! Yes it has very good roots but it has the plastic plug around its stem which I hate!! because it strangles the first part of the roots inside the plastic. OK l’ll wait 😊👌

@@EmaansGarden Thank you for remembering my request!!! I really appreciate it, Emaan! I did like you said: placed my rescue phal on the bed of moss, but it started developing white mold on it, although I washed it very well and let it dry after that, maybe it wasn't enough? I took it out and cleaned it again. I am currently soaking it in teabag+ lemon juice water overnight and letting it dry in the daytime. I will buy a rooting hormone and apply it on it and put it in a bag with moss again. If it stays free of mold this time, I will let it sit there. If not - I will try waterculture. My other phal is having mold in moss too, I put it out bare root yesterday. I really don't know if I should repot it in bark as it used to be at the time I bought it? It started having mold in that bark plus I think there were some mealybugs at the base of its older leaf. I have cleaned it really well with some alcohol and there are no bugs there. It is sitting in the pot bare rooted. I soak it in tap water in the morning for a couple of minutes and then drain the water well and let it dry in the pot. I have some red lava rocks, shall I try and plant it in it? Thank you very much! Best regards from Maryland. Zulfia
Sirene 74 hi Zulfiya. I see you disturb your orchids too much. If mold is growing it is indication of cold. In cold seasons it is hard to root any flower not only phals. Try to clean the stem from any dry tissue from old leaf or dirt first. After let it dry. After apply some rooting hormone. And put in sphagnum moss as I showed. In water culture if it is cold the stem will get mold more or it can totally decay. And also find warmer but not direct sun light bright place, place your favorites there. Or put under the lamp. I rooted my hoyas under the lamp on the table in winter. It works also if you don’t have growing light
