    Hi Ruri! As for my personal experience, being a languages student, I believe that the best way to properly learn a language is to focus mainly on lexicon and then on grammar, that because there's no point in know the whole grammar rules without being able to form the most common phrases due to the lack of words. Beside that, it is important to study daily so that your mind doesn't forget and gets used to the language. I really enjoyed your video! I've got a question for you. Were you to learn another language, which one would you choose? Lots of love from Italy!

  • @dasc0yne
    @dasc0yne 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm a strong believer in conversational immersion. Getting friends to speak with is one of the best tools. It gives you a organic way to build your language. For folks who are afraid of starting off that way it can help to build confidence by going through a course ,like Pimsleur (on CD), where you can build a foundation of basic phrases and focus on the rhythms and pronunciation. I think that learning a new language is also a matter of developing literal "muscle memory" for your lips, tongue etc. which comes through repetition. Inevitably you can work backwards on formalizing your grammar and vocabulary.

We gotta immerse ourselves and train both parts consistently! Thanks for your research and tips 🤜 💥 🤛 Hope you reach 50k soon

    It is so impressive that you could teach yourself a language so well. I am assuming you watch a lot of American movies since you have an American accent. It is also interesting to see the impact of Turkish on your pronunciation when you use a’s and o’s.
    As for using online translators, they work pretty well for European languages, but one has to be very careful while using them for Turkish. Otherwise you end up with translations like “The grape turns darker than the other” or “He who lies fast gets up with lice.”

    For those that want to be more professional with their languages:
    Yes, you need to be exposed to the language to learn it as it comes natural with being human, but if you learned a bit of linguistics and be involved in languages in general, you'll find it easier to make sense of most grammar. This eliminates a considerable amount of time and you'll be able to recognise more information out of a sentence. Then what's left is filling the blanks with vocabulary and general exposure. If you're around your early 20's and think you're too late to learn a language, that's false. Studies show that early 20's are quite the time to learn a language.

    I can kind of speak/understand 6 languages (Norwegian, English, Danish, Swedish, German, and a little Japanese) and I just for the most part listened to music in that language and played a video game in that language (while also getting a little help from Google translate and Duolingo :-P). So I believe one of the best ways to learn a language is to simply integrate what you're doing into the language you wanna learn. SET YOUR WHOLE COMPUTER TO CHINESE AND YOULL BE FLUENT IN IT IN NO TIME!!

    It took me years to be aware of my linguistic build: I find grammatical gender and lexical tones really hard. So I was able to narrow down my choices to four languages: Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, and Turkish.
    Korean had lots of awesome online resources but it got attributes that I find difficult. Indonesian, on the other hand, is something that I can handle but I had problems finding good online resources.
    So right now, I'm focusing on Japanese and Turkish. 🇯🇵🇹🇷

    I think the best tip is "don't give up" because for real...sometimes when you're studying another language instead of understanding it, you end up more confused and feeling like you'll never get it T.T
