      Nice phrase, too bad it's BS. The person who wins, is the person who knows how to dedicate himself and take better advantage of his own personal advantages, opportunities, and privileges. These privileges are not the same for everyone. So, it's not enough to be the one who wants the most, life is not a fair race, some start closer to the starting line, and others start closer to the finish line... We have to deal with it.

      @@MrDusuke That's why perseverance and proper mindset is crucial. If you keep telling yourself that you suck then obviously you gonna suck. Sure life isn't fair to someone else How would I know? Well I have dyslexia and aiming for law school I have failed dozens of times in entry exams and I probably will fail dozens more but I dont give rat ass about it. Law as a vocation intrigues me so much that I bare the consequences.

    Six step to learning a language:
    1. pick videos what could enjoy yourself to watch;
    2. watch them with subtitles at least an hour every day;
    3. watch the videos without subtitles and try to summarize in you own words;
    4. start reading in your target language and summarize as well
    5. watch the video at 1.5 times of speed.
    6. continuing to do all the thing above

      @beinghere_1273 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Did you experience this type of learning? Does this really help? Cuz things you described are literal hell, and as for me will lead only to hate this languages..Not sure but at least step number 5 is useless, come on, I’ll find it really hard and maybe even impossible even watchin in my native language, and number four will work normally only w kids literature (not sure even with this, you can waste time lookin for related ones), sooo

    • @Bawsz
      @Bawsz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@beinghere_1273i can personally vouch for first three steps, Obviously don't start with this but learn basic in that language then after 2-3 weeks of assimilating the most in your target language start watching show that you really liked and you already watched with the audio in english but the sub in ur language to keep picking up vocabulary, then when you start to feel more confident change the audio to in that language ( Yes it will be hard and you'll feel like you don't understand anything and it's not worth it but just keep having faith and don't give up). The more you practice the easier it will become and the more u understand the more u upgrade with more complicated series. But remember you never stop learning a languague even when you think you are fluent so just keep practicing it.

    The problem I've been facing when learning English and Arabic at school is that they only focus on writing and not speaking.
    I remember this one time I asked my teacher if we could speak arabic with him,he proceeded to say he was unconfident with us and afraid that we "would make mistakes" which obviously we would make because...well it's the process.We focus on writing a lot that I literally turned into ambidextrous because my right hand was hurting a lot lol.

    Following your method, I'm here starting to take the first step in my learning progress. I'm about to summarize your video. So as I grasped, this method prioritizes the "output-based goal" to the "input-based goal". We are going to learn from listening and repeating. We will create a second brain for our target language, which helps us respond and practice using that language fast and naturally. A second brain is really important in learning any language. We don't have to waste time translating every single word in our brain to understand thoroughly everything. Since our final goal when we use a language is just to be able to communicate, all we need is to be comfortable when we use that language and people are able to understand what we mean.

    I'm studying Japanese and sometimes feel overwhelmed with so many resources and it's a good thing that there are so many... but at the same time I don't know what to focus on. I learned the Kanas and am learning grammar and vocabulary alongside some Kanji while trying to improve my reading speed but I feel like its going to be forever 😭😭😭 I definitely am passionate about learning so im not giving up whatsoever. I'm hispanic and English is my 2nd language but my main language and Spanish is my weaker language (quite funny haha) but I do use that benefit since us spanish folks have an easier time pronouncing words in Japanese due to it's similarities.
    I'm more along the lines of A1 in Japanese, to be quite frank. I'm going back and forth trying to learn grammar now and when to use particles, etc.

      Whenever I lose the motivation or get overwhelmed, I remember why I wanted to learn the language in the first place. Whenever I hear something in particular in Japanese like great voice acting and how it feels to hear it in Japanese compared to English that boosts my motivation. Or when I hear a beautiful phrase or song being spoken in Japanese. The more you learn, the easier it gets. Just keep in mind, you never stop learning. You just have to reach a point where you are happy and go from there.

I've always seemed interested in their culture more than my Hispanic background. And I even cook their dishes from time to time. Thank you very much for sharing your own experience for learning a language at home, Ruri san ! 😄 I never tried the method with the speed setting of the video, and my curiosity leads me to test this method in future. 😊 I respect you a lot for being polyglot as I know myself how much time and efforts it requires. 🙏🏻 I was born and I have grown up in a very small country in Europe called Luxembourg (next to Germany & France). Due to its tiny area and hence dependance to the international, we learn 4 languages at school (Luxembourgish, German, French and English) and we manage to speak them fluently when finishing school. 🙂 Thanks to this uncommon education, I notice that I have it quite easy to learn Japanese at home. I have been learning this beautiful language for 3 months now and I am still fully motivated as I apply great part of your methods. 😄 That's why thanks for this inspiring video, Ruri san ! 😀👋🏻

    Been doing what you taught in this video for a while for Japanese. Understanding videos now is pretty easy, reading manga got easy tho I still find vocab I don't know, I can read light novels and visual novels too, still finding vocab I don't know. Even though I get unknown words, I can follow the plot no problem. Vlogs in Japanese are easy af, anime gets hard when they use weird fantasy vocab but usually is easy to understand. I never used Japanese subtitles willingly, Japanese youtube videos usually has subs but I never made too much effort to add subs, 98% of everything I ever watched didn't have subs. I used anki and I sentence mined a lot so I slowly got better at listening, I could feel it getting easier and easier to understand live streams, movies, dramas, anime etc. Because I sentence mined I learned a lot of rare grammar structures, so having a good dictionary and making sure you're looking things up and mining the language is going to lead you to understand more complex shit.
    Do a shit ton of listening and a shit ton of reading and you're good. Skim through some grammar guide as fast as you can making sure you understand everything, but make sure you're doing reading and listening every day. You don't even need to do grammar exercises honestly. For languages that are very different from your native language, if you're not doing at least 3 hours of reading and listening every day, good luck getting fluent before you're 80 years old. lol
    I learned English by basically doing the same shit honestly. Loads of manga and youtube videos. Next language will be either korean or spanish.
    ずっと小説読んだりパソコンで漫画読んだりゲームしたり。。。次のステップは日本人の友達を探し出せること!w

    Ruri-chan, one thing I forgot to mention in my comment which is reaaaally important when I was learning, another secret sauce if you will 😂 1st: Watch the movie, cartoon, anime etc in your own language and learn the CONTEXT of the situations in the scene. 2nd: Once context is etched in the brain, listening the 2nd lengua will become like learning a song. So you could say learning the context is the BASE of absorbing any new lengua. This has helped me a whole lot in my journey. Ten un bonito dia hermosa Ruri 💜

      @@AfroLinguo Wow, I didnt know that was a thing 🤣 Its something I started doing out of the blue in my teens. Yeah I related it to song learning cause Im a musician. Its like this... before I learn my part(which is drums) I learn the other musicians parts 1st(start with bass). Once I got their "context"(melody, chords, bass, etc) etched in my brain, then I can speak with my drums and compliment them with a musical conversation(beats and rhythm). In the case of movies and shows, scene story context would be the bass, harmonies, time, tone, articulaton and feels. I dont know, thats how my brain sees it 😝🧠 hope this little breakdown helps your journey too 👍

    One thing you didn't mention is that there are different preferentials our brains have in learning. Some are more audio-based as learners, and some more visuals. Some pick up a lot by listening, others need to see the structures of the grammar in place. I think this works for someone who is very much on the audio-spectra of learning, like yourself. Myself, for example, not as much. I am also a polyglot (four languases as well), fluent in French for example that I started learning when 23. But I do not pick things up as easily when listening... though learning quite fast when studying the grammar.
    Tl;dr: we have different ways of learning, based on how our brain is set-up

    Thanks! I've been studying english by myself at home for almost 3 months. It's really hard, and the big challenge for me... but, i need to practice every single day, 'cause my dream is to travel around the world. First of all, i has been so busy those days listening about many things, like.. watching movies and series in english, sometimes with subtitles, sometimes without subtitles. My goal is just to watch series in english, and to understand. After all, first listening i believe so, and then speaking. I'll never give up.

      Hey keep it up. I understand English isn’t your first language and I see minor mistakes in your comment but overall they were very minor and any English speaker can easily understand what you’re saying. So I can say you are doing an amazing job! You’re pretty much almost there.

    I'm currently learning 3 additional language (Mandarin, Japanese, and German). The learning curve to learn German isn't as steep as Mandarin if you speak English, as they share so much words, but of course the grammar is much more difficult. In the other hand, Mandarin steep learning curve came from their word character, grammar wise it's the easiest of these 3 IMO, and speaking in Mandarin is so fun because your tongue feel so fluid you don't need to stop hahaha. Japanese grammar can be soo complicated, but the early learning progression isn't so steep as well. Can't wait to finish these three and totaled 6 languages in my arsenal

      How much time do you spend every day to study these three languages?

    • @blackraider5123
      @blackraider5123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@semihbozkurt1037 Depends, for normal day I usually spend 2-3 hours with somewhere around 100-200 questions. But when I want to get focused, it’s 3-4 hours with 200-300 questions. Currently, I spend most of the times for Mandarin because in the early stage, this is the hardest one, but I think in few days I can start to prioritize German
