      I appreciate that! Thank you Devin for stopping by and taking the time to send your thoughtful and encouraging email. I love classic bodybuilding and just the basic barbell and dumbbell workouts that all the Champs did back in the day. Thanks for subscribing and we'll chat again. Peace, Sal.

    I listened to the end of the video a few times, and it sounds as if you're saying a person should follow the program two times per week. The magazine article, written by Gene Mozee, says three times per week. I read the article in 1976, and followed the program for at least five years. Gained much strength.

      Hi there Sterling Brown, thanks for stopping by bro. Okay, I also went back to double check so here it is: For the first two months Workout 3x per week for 3 sets per exercise. Starting on month 3; increase all sets to 4; while still training only 3x per week. Starting on the 4th month increase all sets to 5, while continuing to train 3x per week and stay there for the next 3 months. Peace, Sal

      How many kilos of mass did you gain?

      @@SalsBodybuildingArchives Hello. I've been working out since 1959, and have tried many routines. No drugs. During the years I did the above Mozee routine I got very strong while gaining about twenty pounds of muscle. Toward the end I wanted to take more time off, but wouldn't let myself. I started trying Mentzer's suggestions. But I didn't get stronger until many years later when I gave myself a week's rest between bodypart workouts. A couple years ago when I was around 73 I could still do fourteen or fifteen pullups with forty pounds hanging off my belt, weighing around 173 at 5' 10". Arthritis in my hands ended that. I gained the most muscle when doing more volume, like Arnold. But I was a long-distance kayaker, not a bodybuilder.

    What is end barbell rowing???? Is this normal barbell rowing?

    • @SalsBodybuildingArchives
      @SalsBodybuildingArchives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      “End Barbell Rowing” is what we call “T-Bar Rowing” now. There is a “V” Grip handle at the end of an anchored barbell and you row it up to your chest. Peace, Sal 💪🏻

      That's right. 3x per week, lift heavy (5x5), eat a quality diet, get plenty of sleep, repeat. Peace, Sal

      @@SalsBodybuildingArchives Literally the same as Arnold's "add weight method" that used like 90% of the time. The workouts that are in his book New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding were only used pre-contest.

      @@chriskane29Even Arnold's so called basic training routine has way too much volume.
      Take whatever he recommends and reduce it to 1/3. Also never do a three times a week routine. Twice is plenty of frequency.

    • @Heikkiman
      @Heikkiman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Clearly enhanced, but pretty much all of them were back in the day. Still the program is sound for mass gaining.

    • @SalsBodybuildingArchives
      @SalsBodybuildingArchives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, Heikki; I think most of the champs back in the day "supplemented" their bodies; yet they still had to hit the weights hard too. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment. Peace, Sal.

    This was good sound advice, especially that piece about "bulking up" ......being careful to add muscle & not fat. I believe that's it's possible that Grant,& not Weider or one his cronies actually wrote the bulk of the article.
    Really one of the best because it emphasized not overstressing the NERVOUS SYSTEM which FEW lifers realize is in play,,,,, though it is MORE affected than the muscles & more difficult to get it to recuperate. GRANT was a clever B.B.
    Thanks again Sal for digging this stuff up from these old magazines.👍👀🥸
