    Where can I find a Pin-out to build the cable for the BG-8S Meter to the ribbon cable?

    Jehu, one thin I do about every month or so is I take the BattGo and test every board in my 36p to see if any trace fuses are bad. disconnect the ribbon cable from all and plug the BAT in, if one or more cell reads 0v then I know I have a bad trace fuse. Monthly maintenance.

      @@jehugarcia Yes twice, but after I took out the pack and re-tested every cell and found the one or two bad cells then ran re-packer all has been good. But if we don't use new cells all the time this is a quick way to check everything.

    7.22.20 Jehu, are you going to make a video on how to wire up the battgo BG 8s? I bought 4 of the BMS and now I am hoping they are fine. Slowly taken apart the scooter battery packs and testing the cells and putting them into the PCB. Currently have 5 PCB (35 cells) populated and now ready to test the BMS.

    • @jehugarcia
      @jehugarcia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it’s as simple as connecting pin 1 on the meter to pin 1 on ribbon, pin 2 to pin 2 and so on

    Generally, trying to measure resistance while voltage is applied to circuit is going to give unreliable results.
    The resistance measurement works by applying a small voltage and measuring the small current. Voltage in the circuit confuses the measurement.

    • @ugetridofit
      @ugetridofit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ross is right. You should never measure resistance or continuity check on a live circuit.

    • @jehugarcia
      @jehugarcia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      how do shunts measure resistance? With the circuit off ?

    • @jessew6757
      @jessew6757 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      jehugarcia : A shunt is a precisely manufactured wire block with very low predetermined fixed resistance at manufacturing stage. It is used to measure current not resistance. When current flows through it, a voltage drop occurs across its terminals, and this voltage is directly proportional to the current flowing through the shunt because of V=IR (Ohms law), whereby R is constant in a shunt, hence voltage varies with current. There is always a small electronic circuit attached to the shunt to compute (calculate) the amount of current flowing through the shunt. Thus current measurement is also computed into Amp-hours, if necessary. A combination of shunt and display circuitry are used to measure Amp-hours, and thus are used as battery monitors. A good example of use of Shunt and monitoring circuit is the VictronEnergy Shunt and BMV’s www.victronenergy.com/battery-monitors

    I found a problem with my v1.3 populated board. The ribbon connector is off one set of points.
    I found the issue when I tried to check the voltages on the testing points on the ribbon conector, the first set of pins shows 8v, no combination shows 4v, so I flipped it over and compared to v1.0 of the board and saw the connector is shifted over one spot. I wish I could share a photo of what I have to help others.

    In Electronics, it is not ok or recommended to do a continuity multimeter test in a live(powered) circuit, let alone across a MOSFET or transistor. Continuity test should never be done on a powered circuit.
