Turns out the homerun was all the friends we made along the way.
The actor who played the scout was terrific. He was completely trying to be a douche and was perfect.

I feel like there was no homerun in this clip.
now that was an amazing homerun clip! the only thing that would make it better is if there were a homerun in it.
The way Pitt says “and you don’t” is just so perfect. Just conveys “this is a statement of fact” and you just can’t argue here.
The home run was so powerful it flew right past this post.
Where was the Hatterberg homerun exactly?
Apparently this interaction didn't happen in real life and Grady was actually on board with the plan until he left to Texas. Still a great scene though.
The problem is that the NY Yankees started using the "moneyball yale economic" guys's ideas right after they saw that the ideas worked. And so the moneyball system was no longer an advantageous strategy for the poor teams. It is a tool everyone uses now.

When Grady is talking about all of his experience...in the 20 seasons prior to the 2002 season, the A's had a winning record 8 times, so it's not like they had some sustained history of excellence.
To be fair to that scout, im sure he was an integral part in scouting Zito, Hudson, Mulder, Tejada, Chavez, Jason Giambi back in the 1990's.
I’ve watched this vid three times, but I keep missing the home run.
