I didn’t realize having an external storage for me and my boys games would turn the system into what I remember a gaming system use to be. A quick access to multiple games (since modern games take awhile to load still) and multiple avenues of entertainment. We got like 90 games ready to fire up and multiple movies saved to watch at anytime we need. Best part is we can just pack up the storage device if we ever wanted to play elsewhere.
Paused video at 3:45. Just got my PS5 and have an SSD from PS4 with a ton of games on it ready to transfer to PS5. At this moment my Demon's Souls download is at pretty much the same spot as it is in this video. The first thing I did after setup was buy Demon's Souls, when that is done I'll be putting my SSD from PS4 to PS5 😊 Kinda know what to do just confirming it before I do it, thanks for the tutorial.

So instead of transferring, I say just download the ps5 version...it runs a lot smoother, although I haven't felt a difference from the ps4 and ps5 versions of games.

Can you create folders for ps4 games or is the only option is the grid view? My games are arranged in folders for different genres on PS4 I'm hoping I can do the same here

Correct, you just won't get the fast SSD load speeds unless you move the games to the internal PS5 storage. However, if the PS4 games have 60fps on the PS5, you will still get 60fps from the external storage.

If I migrate to the PS5 with the extended storage and I put in my game disc into the PS5, will it recognize that it's a PS4 disc and therefore open the library automatically showing said game?
what happens if i click stop using extended storage on ps4 does it mean when i download games it will download in the regular ps4 storage and will it still let me play the games in the extended storage as long as it’s still connected?
I have a big question we have a few games instald with our extended storage box so does that mean I have to move them over onto the box or do we even need to do that or do I just simply safley disconnect it and then I can just plug it into the the ps5 and get all those games with no issues at all. Can anyone help ? I've just purchased a SanDisk 512gb usb stick with a view to copying PS4 data onto the stick and from there to my new PS5 slim. But pretty soon I ran into problems. I thought I had to format the disk as extended storage before transferring data but after I did just that the PS4 told me that it couldn't transfer the data as the disk was formatted as extended storage. So I re-formatted the disk as exFAT as instructed. I was then able to transfer the data to the USB stick. But when I tried to transfer the data to the PS5 and followed procedure I was met with a message which said 'Your saved data will appear here.' I sat there for half and hour and nothing changed. So, where is my saved data and why won't it appear on the PS5 so that I can then copy it to the new console ??

I have tried this, but my data did not transfer. I downloaded ghost of Tsushima and I had the director’s cut, and none of my story progress downloaded. I also have two copies of Ghost, one being the ps4 and another being the ps5 version and have the same thing fir 2k22. Any thoughts? I am incredibly confused
@@hudson-9164 I'm offline only (no real need for internet outside of my phone) so I'm not able to use the cloud to transfer saved data. The hdd makes you choose either saved data or the games themselves. Seeing as how I didn't want to fuss with downloading all the patches again I went with the game data.

Just plug in a USB doesn't need to be hsrd drive copy the saves can do multiple like this to and then just transfer the save to the ps5 from the USB heads up with a game like ds3 for me when I did the transfer Cia stick it had to over write my previous save so do it using ps plus if you can and this issue may only apply ds3 tbf but idk hope this helps anyway

I think it’s just the game itself fortunately if you have PlayStation plus then you can upload all your saved data into the cloud and then you can install it on your ps5

It is the PS4 version, with any few PS5 upgrades (such as 60 fps, if there is any upgrades).

The PS4 version can be played on the external storage.
The PS5 version cannot, has to be on the internal PS5 storage.
