    Back in 1963 at age 8 rising my family took a holiday in Wengen, Switzerland. We spent one day on the Jungfraujoch viewing platform (about 11,000 feet) and also inside a man-made ice tunnel - very impressive, blue or bluish ice all around! The tunnel opened out into several chambers, one of which contained a carving in ice of a Model 'T' Ford car! I don't know if that tunnel system's still there, such have been the ravages of climate change.
    Last week I went into the natural ice cave at Kotlujokull but I must admit the Langjokull trip does arouse my curiosity, too. My only problem would be getting to Husafell from Reykjavik.

    I went there and I got thrilled. Go surely. It will take you some time but it is worth it. I also remember that there is a place where the cave meets a physical ice cave😮 Missing Iceland so much......

    Does the tour offer the warm suits to go into the glacier. I saw some people with them and some without.

      Hi Joan! From their website: "It can get very cold on the glacier, even during summertime. The temperature inside the tunnel is around 0°C (32°F), so you need to be properly dressed to feel comfortable throughout your tour. We recommend layers of clothing, which can be added or removed as needed. We always recommend thermal underclothes and, most importantly, windproof and waterproof outerwear. A warm hat and gloves are advised and water repellent footwear is required (we provide crampons for use inside the tunnel). As sunlight reflects off the ice and snow, you might wish to bring sunscreen or a sun cap to protect against sunburn. Sunglasses are also an essential item for sunny days." ~ Happy planning!

      That was just a science fiction movie, which, by the way, is the real reason I was interested in this place.

    Hi! I'll be heading to Reykjavik in September and was wondering is it hard to get from the city to the pick up point for this tour?

    • @petestrash
      @petestrash 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's about an 1:45 drive each way to the pickup point.

      If you scroll to the bottom of this page intotheglacier.is/tours/ you will find tours that include transport from Reyjkavik.

    So this tour done by or called 'Into the Glacier' seems like just walking through a man made lit cave. That's pretty LAME considering all of the NATURAL GLACIER ICE CAVES in Iceland. Are there any tours to NATURAL ice caves at the Langjokull Glacier?
