The announcement came days after Biden froze bomb shipments to Israel over concerns about the operation in Rafah. The new long-term assistance includes tank munitions and mortars. Biden's mixed messaging comes as colleges protests for Palestine fizzle out in the United States and pressure mounts from Republicans and Jewish groups. Last week, a US government report found that Israel's use of American weapons was "inconsistent" with international law. Yet, Biden is keen on giving more military aid to Israel.
