Synopsis: THE BOYS Season 3 - It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.

Shoutout to Mindstorm for actually throwing hands instead of immediately resorting to his mind powers
I’m pretty sure it was explained by Mindstorm when Hughie and Butcher find him that he could never actually damage Soldier Boy or even keep him unconscious for more than 1-2 minutes at best if he truly wanted to.
Mindstorm had no choice but to throw hands, they had to all attack him at once in order to weaken him as much as possible and force Soldier Boy to look into Mindstorm’s eyes, and since he’s now weakened physically it would be easier for MS to actually get a hold on him.
From there, they only have a few minutes, 5 tops, but that’s plenty of time for them to slip the gas mask on Soldier Boy and keep him fully unconscious.

SB has been fighting since WW2 and most of the rest of Payback were essentially celebrities cosplaying as heroes, so SB tried to beat that out of them. Also, just because this is from Noir's POV, doesn't make it true. Considering Payback killed their own allies, they actually are worse than SB as he didn't do that.

This is actually a much better way to do a flashback than to just have Noir sit down and the screen go blurry as we travel back in time. As good as when Butcher stopped the previous flashback halfway through to go throw up

The thing is how would they be able to kill Soldier boy? People tried for 40 years. Noir doesn't have any ability pr weapons that kill him. Apparently Noir has some healing but that became weird because he lost part of his brain. So he doesn't heal all the way, but enough to keep leaving.

That conversation we see Noir and Stan Edgar can be heard in Grace Mallory's flashback of the same events in S3E3. I'm assuming this fight took place after Grace was knocked out, and finished right after she regained consciousness.
I knew something wasn't right when Crimson Countess said the Russians killed SB, but the rest of Payback survived (not including Swatto). You mean to tell me the man who considered to be the strongest hero of his era, was taken out by a weapon while the rest of you survived with non lethal injuries.

I bought it because they showed the Russian helicopter that took Soldier Boys body away. It wasn’t out of the real of possibilities that the Russians had an anti supe weapon. This was a well written twist though.

Well, let's face it, SB is the only one worth a damn so the rest could've been seen as insignificant, especially if the Russians were going to use SB to create an army like we all originally thought.
These are all true statements but that first flashback in S3E3 is what got me started on this theory. I knew they let us hear that part in Mallory's( the lady that watches over Homelander's son) flashback for a reason. Grace Mallory was left alive bc she was knocked out, so she didn't see what really happened, but she did see SB get carried by the chopper. I think the she was left alive as a witness to lend some authenticity to Payback's lie.
That conversation that we overheard when Noir was getting the greenlight from Stan Edgar to overthrow SB confirmed that Noir is same one from back then. During that convo, we hear Noir ask Edgar to not consume almonds around him bc of his allergy ( which we are told about in S2).
At first I thought it was just a nice little callback to S2, but then seeing Noir get scared and take off when they confirm that SB is indeed still alive (since we've never seen Noir shaken up, him running off was a giant red flag to me). We already knew that Noir was originally part of Payback, and that SB wanted revenge on his forer team for a reason. Soldier Boy is fucked up for a lot of reasons, and has killed many ppl for various reasons. But the level of brutality for each murder of his team (excluding Gunpowder since he was killed by Butcher in S3E2) far exceeded the level needed to kill them. For Solider Boy wanted some revenge. Some Payback if you will.
They've been leading us to this revelation for awhile with a trail of breadcrumbs.
Also I love getting into the lore of shows and figuring things out to see if I was right.
My bestie hates watching TV and movies with me bc I figure things easy bc I pay too close attention. Its a blessing and a curse and sometimes takes me out of the viewing experience bc I'll start to theorize as I'm watching whatever it is I'm watching.
The violence in this scene was so intense they had to animate it to make it less gratuitous, and Black Noir had to remember it this way so he could handle it. This is one of the most intense fights in the whole series.

@@TehPesky BN is stronger than HL in the comics because he was a clone of HL who was designed to be stronger than HL to keep him in check. In the show that's not the case BN is weaker than SB and SB is weaker than HL, so SB is weaker than HL in the show at least.

Until this scene I always thought Noir power was that he had pain nullification. Like Ajax from Deadpool. Everytime he fought and got injured, he didn't grunt or feel like it hurt him at all. Literally cut out his tracker with no hesitation. Took a explosion to the face, didn't even flinch.

Black noir is my favorite, he’s like the hound from game of thrones. Hell I even made him in borderlands 2 with the character Zero Lolol
I like that they added the detail that he actually forgot to grab his helmet in the scene before And that's why he was open to getting face burned to shit like that

They set up Noir too hard at the end of the season for Homelander to just murk him

the comics fight with payback and billy butcher was awesome. it played out like a horror movie.
The head thing was a call back to the comics when butcher killed noir.

I’m convinced black noir is still alive after the finale. If he can survive when a chunk of his brain is taken out, I think he can survive his guts falling out. I trust that he’ll be mended by the 4th season.

I really love how they changed his place in the plot from the comic, really adds a lot more depth to his character overall
Where was gunpowder for this fight? Swatto got fucken swatted but we don’t see gunpowder get any licks in this fight.
Apparently mindstorm had him drunk to keep him occupied
Mindstorm controlled Gunpowder's mind into thinking the allies were the russians....hence he went on a carnage with the turrets. I guess this was the only way for them to remove any witnesses and himself before they took a stand against SB. Look at Mallory's version of the scene..... we can see that after the fight, Mindstorm was tending to Gunpowder. Probably must've put him in a coma after the gun turret rampage so that he wouldnt interfere with their plan to take out SB

Considering how worried soldier boy was of mind storm i feel like they should’ve had an easier time fighting him since he’d have to close his eyes as long as mind storm was present which would’ve been an obvious handicap
