    I hope you all enjoy this one, I had a lot of fun breaking down and melting this electrical panel. I’ve been so busy with work and day to day life, I’m sorry for the delay in melting and posting, but I hope you like this one. It was fun to get a melt in. Have an awesome week and let me know what you think in the comments. Stay awesome my friends!

      Man I've hung soooo many of those disconnects since 2006. I've wanted to do this to a few of them so getting to see this was great.

    This was a great video as always! I enjoy watching the disassembling. I have a box of cords back in Chicago. Next time I’m there I’m going to strip the cords and send you the copper.

    Well done! Great to see another video from you. I like the break down of, otherwise, landfill stuff. Less landfill is always a good thing. Always looking forward to another great video from you.😍

      Thank you Leslie! Always fun to have a project and add to the collection instead of winding up in the landfill. I’ll try not to be away for so long next time 😉🙂

    He’s back!!!! No worries about frequency, I’m glad you’re still doing them. As far as the copper, I guess you’ll have to do enough videos for TH-cam to buy you an XRF scanner 😀

      Thank you Jim! It’s good to be back! I’ll try to post more often, work and life has been brutal lately. But I still love melting and making videos. I’d love to have an XRF scanner. One of these days I’ll get one 👍

      If you’re looking for ideas and have access to 3d printers, a tetrahedron cast in something shiny or even any complex shape like dodecahedron would be way cool.

    The back of the hatchet/axe coming into the shot the first time was terrifying as totally not expected, lol.
    Got horror movie there for a second, 😂
    Great video! Love both watching the melt and bonus of seeing the inside of stuff as you do the tear down!

    Awesome red / black electrical thing! So, I thing it comes from an industrial electrical substation - If you can notice, at the extreme the right corner of the switchgear, the connector is burnt black and half molten! That's why the switchgear was scrapped!

      Thank you Ryan, it is definitely fun, addictive, and for me a nice stress relief to disappear into the garage for a few hours and melt something and make something. Feel free to email me if you want to and share anything you’ve done or are working on, I’d love to see it. 👍

    Dude, you should do a mold of Thor's hammer and cast it in Nordic Gold. I just thought of it, but it would make for an awesome addition to the stack.

    • @TheGrowingStack

    I am not sure why, but the bars you made today looked like the carbonite that Jaba froze Han in. looked like little people in the depressions of the bars, maybe it's just me but I thought it looked cool.

    Im curious as to why you can't melt magnetized metal? Ive been thinking about getting into this myself.

    • @TheGrowingStack
      @TheGrowingStack  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When the metal is magnetic that means that it is ferrous. Ferrous metals contain iron, which in most cases I cannot get the furnace hot enough to reach their melting points.
      For example:
      Aluminums melting point is 1221 F
      Coppers melting point is 1984 F
      I can easily do these metals.
      Irons melting point is 2800 F
      That is just outside of my ability so I can’t melt things like iron and steel. 👍

    • @TheGrowingStack

      Thank you so much! My brother makes all the music, a new custom track for each video, he’s really good. It’s one of my favorite things about the videos 👍

    Where are you getting your coin molds from?

  • @Peekscape
    @Peekscape ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My melt went very badly today. I had a fair ammount of copper and the coating burned off of the steel I was using to stir it, turning almost all of the liquid into a slag monstrosity. I only saved a tiny bit of what could have been.

    • @TheGrowingStack
      @TheGrowingStack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. What were you stirring it with that had a coating? That sucks my friend, I make sure to use a bare metal spoon or anything when stirring. Don’t let it get or keep you down, every melt will get better. Stay strong and melt on Benny!

  • @ClayBo21879
    @ClayBo21879 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why can you not melt magnetic metals?

    • @TheGrowingStack
      @TheGrowingStack  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Being magnetic implies that it is a ferrous metal(it contains iron) and the melting point of iron is 2,800 F, a temperature I can’t really reach and maintain.

    The brief check to make sure you still have all your fingers and didn't cut anything...
    All too real. Been there too often and always a bit of a heart stopper and a "did I just ruin my day by making the rest of it being in an urgent care or ER?"
    Glad you're ok.
    Is there some type of grease or something on it that you're wearing nitrile gloves for the takedown instead of work gloves?
