I keep thinking a good story arc would be for her to grow to care about the villagers she was charged with protecting I say this because even though she has negative karma or whatever I can't help but wonder if her being in charge of protecting someone or something would affect her karma and change her personality.
One of the things i noticed is that lupisregina beta retreated from the hug of Enri. I think that is a way of keeping her objectivity, but seeing how much she accomplished (summoning 5000 goblins). This would also give Ainz a lot of joy and reaffirmed her belief that she simply did not understand the full picture and realize now how much more she screwed up. Thus, the prince is going to pay a price for messing with her pet or the supreme one's will.

I don't think she actually performed her job that well. Note that in the LN Ainz wasn't observing the battle, that was a shock to many when the episode came out. The anime also makes Beta much more of a sadist than the LN. Beta's job was explicitly to protect specific individuals, not the town (though her original job was the town; later Ainz clarified specific individuals). Ainz explained that the battle was a test for Beta and to see if she would perform well. However, I don't think she did perform that well. She was supposed to protect Nfirea from harm, but she let him get brutally hurt. Yes, she healed him, but only after he was on the edge of death (saving him from the killing blow). Her job was not to see how strong Nfirea was, but to protect him from all danger. So, for me, I'd say she got a D to C- Grade on her protection order. She did go after the prince to mop up, but this was after she had reported back to Ainz the battle was won and they were retreating. I do enjoy her design, but her as a character so far seems pretty lazy, bordering on incompetent (by choice or Supreme Being design idk). I really enjoy a lot of her interactions with the Great Tomb (especially in the LN ... I speculated Ainz had no idea about the battle until it was nearly too late and she showed up to protect Nifrea in the nick of time ... but the anime threw that out the window and threw in a lot of questions for me about her), but protecting Nifrea is like an after thought.
I think its not lazy writing, in fact its written pretty good if the goal is to convey her saddistic attitude in the anime even more - she only intervened at the last second because she enjoys watching Nifrea suffer and only intervenes at the very last moment to both get the job done somehow and still her sadistic needs at the same time. But I agree on she had very little screen time and her Character had much more potential to show definietly, other than just being someone who is saddistic but can communicate well with people and hide it.
Btw, Ainz thought that Lupusregina Beta was a better companion than Naberal to accompany with him as the adventurer of Darkness. Thank god that it didn't happen lol. Some of the pronunciations are a bit off. It sounded like Lupus Bergenia Beta, instead of how it's pronounced in the anime of Lups Re Gina with an emphasis on the G, and how you pronounce Cleric like Clerk.
I mean this with no targetted disrespect, it's just something that i notice.
