      The first time I recall that kind of gesture was when young Michel Briere of the Pittsburgh Penguin was in a coma and eventually died during the 1970-71 season, he was a really talented player, and might have gone on to do what Lemieux did later.
      Glad Columbus is doing the same for Johnny Hockey.

    A lot of us are speculating Kaliyev to be gone before the season starts. He’s not a bad player, in fact he could be a decent third line winger. The problem is that the Kings don’t know how to utilize his skill set, and he’ll get dealt to a team that I’m 90% sure he’ll thrive and make the Kings management look like idiots (again).

    Regarding losing in the final being a motivator to return- that is true a fair percentage of times.

    As a card carrying retired beer league goalie, I totally agree with the backup goalie getting a warmup if the starter is injured. HOWEVER… another Mike Keenan style coach could have his starter fake an injury and the starter return a few minutes later due to “modern medical miracles”. So, I would add a proviso to the rule that the starting goalie with the injury would have to stay out for at least the next 20 minutes of clock time. I wouldn’t say “until the end of the period” because a coach could have his goalie fake an injury with only a couple minutes or less in the period, then bring him back for the next period!

    As a goalie (back in the Jurassic era...lol) and being able to warm up if you were going in as a replacement 'tender was a blessing, because you got to stretch your muscles and joints, get them working at, basically, game readiness. When leagues stopped allowing guys to warm up before taking over in net, I saw a lot of early goals, AND a lot of minor injuries, strains, pulls, etc, that wouldn't have happened if the goalie had had 5 minutes to stretch, warm his muscles up and get ready. It's awesome to see that, given the replacement is due to an injury to his fellow netminder, that a goalie will now have a chance to get game set, but as usual, I'm old, what do I know?

      @@scottjacoby2594 well usually you don't when and if you are even going in because the coach normally doesn't say he is pulling the other guy unless he allows a certain amount of goals or something. Like he may say "hey you are going in on the next one" and so you go and try stretching out and shit down the hallway but then there isn't another goal allowed all game so you got all warmed up for nothing. And it may be you go down the hallway start stretching and then another goal is scored right away so the team needs to send someone back down to grab you and then there is a delay anyways. Plus that requires there be enough room which in the hallway areas there may not be that much space. A goalie to warm up requires room to stretch and take shots. That isn't happening in the hallways.

      It's possible teams have tried and he hasn't accepted the offer. It could also be the price he wants since the pick compensation to the Bruins is related to how much he gets. If he's really after 10M that would be two firsts, a second, and a third, and those have to be the team's own picks. If they can get him down to 9,161,833 it drops to one first, a second, and a third.

      He became an rfa on July 1…. • @jonmendelson1104
      @jonmendelson1104 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mattbcameron Qualifying offer (QO) is not the same as an offer sheet. In order to retain the rights on a pending RFA you need to issue a QO. The QO amount is a 1-year deal based on the salary in the final season of the deal. In Swayman's case it was 3.475Mx1.
      QOs do expire on July 15th unless extended by the team, but just by issuing the QO in the first place a team retains the rights on the player. The only way he can sign with another team is to sign an offer sheet in which case Boston would have the option to match it. As far as when the RFA rights expire, I'm not exactly sure but I know at a minimum it's through the season. It might be all the way until the player is 27 without a contract.

He stated that his disappointment was the fact that he (Sweeney) wasn't able to get a deal done before camp.....not taking shots at Swayman here. Yes he took shots at Biz Nasty and some of the reporting, for sure. But not at Swayman. They wouldn't have traded Ullmark if there was ever risk here.
