Georgiev does carry a lower salary cap and is better than Korpisalo, but i think hes a free agent next season so i dont know....
Can someone please answer this for me I'm generally curious being swayman is an rfa why hasn't a team tried to offer sheet him is there particular guidelines like age or something when it comes to an offer sheet because I would think there'd be a number of teams that really could use a goalie like swayman so I'm just generally curious why no team has tried to throw an offer sheet at him
It's possible teams have tried and he hasn't accepted the offer. It could also be the price he wants since the pick compensation to the Bruins is related to how much he gets. If he's really after 10M that would be two firsts, a second, and a third, and those have to be the team's own picks. If they can get him down to 9,161,833 it drops to one first, a second, and a third.
Laughed at "opposing goalie can't skate down & knock other net off" Would be an entertaining addition to the All Star game NHL hating on Mike Keenan for 3+ decades for switching out goalies, some kind of record?
Keenan's abuse of the goalie warm ups should have resulted in fines and has messed up a lot of goalies since when it got taken away. The delay of game penalty for skaters was practically created by Columbus. Getting the less awesome expansion draft team, they'd shoot the puck over the boards at the slightest pressure in their zone, clutch and grab to the max, and generally drive opposing players and hockey fans insane in the hopes of getting a power play after frustrated players attacked them.
Devils are kinda in a cap hell situation. Fitzy really messed up. Shouldve got Mercer done first. Cuz if he wants 4m+ so they will have to run a 22 player team, or they can just send down bastian. But if they do that they lose a big, physical RHF. Which they lack in those two departments. at this point idc about the yapping on Mercer just tell us when he is signed
Sweeney said today, during the news conference, that he's confident to have Swayman signed before December 1st. Guess he doesn't;t see a problem with the Bruins being without their starting goalie for the first two months of the season.
With cap space increasing and star players getting very lucrative contracts , will players who are productive be willing to take less money to accommodate teams with cap issues? Pie has only so many pieces to accommodate all and keep everyone content. Swayman situation might be preview of things to come.
The Swayman saga has been so funny to watch unfold for years. This was so obviously why Ullmark was in Boston as long as he was. Good for Sway, raise dem goalie salaries, Boston is going absolutely nowhere with that roster so you might as well cash in

@@TheHockeyGuyreports are shesterkin wants to be the highest paid. So maybe 10.75 would be the cap hit? Would make him the highest paid goalie for a long time coming.
I don’t know about the penalty review, because eventually ever call would want to be reviewed and game will get slower. Also wasting a challenge when you potentially can be down two men is also stupid. Also challenges should start to be limited to be more risky when to challenge
You can only request a review to rescind a call. It isn't going to happen often at all because of the risk of going down two men. If you didn't have the penalty added, you would have almost every delay of game penalty challenged. They'd use it as a timeout, knowing the penalty would stand. They did it plenty before coaches got penalized for it.

@@defectiveindustries All through the 2010s they were talking about how old the Sharks were. The bill will eventually come due, though I think there's still some time.
I hate the challenge. 90% of the time the call is so close they need to look at it for so long the league should get a delay of game penalty. If the call is that close the call on the ice should stand. You challenge and the league takes longer than 2 min and can't determine it then the call on the ice stands and the game proceeds.
Not only that but I think that if everyone misses the call on ice and spectating that it shouldn't be called back. Human refs make the game organic. If we're going to review everything then just put a sensor inside the puck and be done with it.
@@chrismdb5686 I agree with this. If they want 100% accuracy put refs in the war room watching 900 cameras and put cameras on the blue line that use AI to determine if the play is offsides. The technology is here now, you want people calling the game or do you want 100% accuracy.
The challenge tends to be the most intense, nail-biting moment of the game though, so I'm kind of for it. That being said, I wish they would show the footage that they used to make the decision instead of broadcasters showing us the few angles that they have, like in the Florida offside in the playoffs this year
Sweeney and Neely have gone full establishment shills. Anyone else was surprised when he was named as Canada’s GM? They threw a lot of dirt at Swayman at arb last year when he probably would’ve accepted a reasonable raise, without getting personal. Since that’s how they wanted to play, well, two can play that game. They wanted to use every dirty trick last time and now he’s holding the cards. The B's have not been good to Swayman. I hope Swayman gets what he wants and doesn't cave. Even if it means going to Colorado or somewhere where he'll be better appreciated...and I'm a Bruins fan and goalie. I can tell you I'd rather see players treated better and not taken advantage of. Sway had been forced into arbitration and I'm sure the words the Bruins said there to protect their salary cap stung and bittered the guy and he hasn't forgotten that.
This isn't all on Sweeney. Swayman's agent is known to drag things out and play hardball. Two sides to this one...................and Swayman wasn't "forced" into arbitration as you state.....he took the Bruins to arbitration. Just facts. They don't trade Ullmark and pave the way for Swayman if there was real risk here. This will get done and everyone needs to calm down.
Swayman wasn’t forced into arbitration, he was the one who elected to go to arbitration actually. And Sweeney did him a favour by only signing him for 1yr instead of 2yrs. You are forgetting who Swayman’s agent is, he loves holding out his clients.
Contract stuff is confusing; how is Swayman still an RFA? Did he get a qualifying offer? don't those expire in July? When/how could he sign with another team/become a UFA?
He became an rfa on July 1…. Teams could put in a qualifying offer.. and if is close to 10 million they would also need to give up the farm in drafts.. so not many teams would even consider doing it. Might be a better for Bruins in long run if it did happen… unless they have Sweeney drafting..
@@mattbcameron Qualifying offer (QO) is not the same as an offer sheet. In order to retain the rights on a pending RFA you need to issue a QO. The QO amount is a 1-year deal based on the salary in the final season of the deal. In Swayman's case it was 3.475Mx1. QOs do expire on July 15th unless extended by the team, but just by issuing the QO in the first place a team retains the rights on the player. The only way he can sign with another team is to sign an offer sheet in which case Boston would have the option to match it. As far as when the RFA rights expire, I'm not exactly sure but I know at a minimum it's through the season. It might be all the way until the player is 27 without a contract.
I don't tend to disagree often with your takes THG, but I do believe this presser from Sweeney wasn't as attacking towards Swayman as you present it. He literally said, Swayman is "rightfully so" not coming to camp without a contract. And he never uses the words "withholding services". Word on Kaliyev is that there was no trade value that no one wanted him not sure if that's true but that was the word
The Avalanche youtube channel, or at least a channel that covers just the Avs, speculated that the Bruins may trade Swayman to the Avs...... I would speculate that the two teams would swap starting goalies, Swayman for Georgiev, but that would be a WILD trade! I know some Avs fans have been critical of Georgiev this past year, so they would see this as possibly an upgrade, but as a Bruins fan i dont know if i would be happy about this.
Georgiev does carry a lower salary cap and is better than Korpisalo, but i think hes a free agent next season so i dont know....
THG has right. ‘I dont like Boston’ 🤣
This might very well be a good year for us 👍
If the goalie knocks it off themselves. Like, unintentionally?
Is this the most RFA talk we’ve had in the offseason ever?
First time I've ever liked all the NHL rule changes 👍 good work to all~
Can someone please answer this for me I'm generally curious being swayman is an rfa why hasn't a team tried to offer sheet him is there particular guidelines like age or something when it comes to an offer sheet because I would think there'd be a number of teams that really could use a goalie like swayman so I'm just generally curious why no team has tried to throw an offer sheet at him
It's possible teams have tried and he hasn't accepted the offer. It could also be the price he wants since the pick compensation to the Bruins is related to how much he gets. If he's really after 10M that would be two firsts, a second, and a third, and those have to be the team's own picks. If they can get him down to 9,161,833 it drops to one first, a second, and a third.
Which teams in particular have that sort of cap space available, need a goaltender, and are ones that Swayman would go to?
The Bruins will be the bruins..
Knowing them... they'll be something like 18-2-6 when December 1st rolls around.
Laughed at "opposing goalie can't skate down & knock other net off" Would be an entertaining addition to the All Star game
NHL hating on Mike Keenan for 3+ decades for switching out goalies, some kind of record?
The: you're not going to see a goalie go to other end of ice and knockoff other teams net
Bennington of the STl blues: hold my beer!!! 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Class move by Waddell
We went from “we’re close” to “he’ll probably pay this year” in a hurry.
Look at what happened to players that left the Sens. They make the playoffs of course!
I'm really starting to worry about Sweeney.
I swear earlier I saw Swayman had signed for 8 years, $8.5 million... but I guess that was false?
I’m a bruins fan and I love swayman but that deal would make me cry… 8 years for a goalie is insane
I’m
I don't see that the delay of game change is necessary. Two 2minutes penalties seems harsh................................
Ya but if your certain on your challenge you should be allowed to
"So, for those who don't like Boston...
... which is almost everybody who doesn't cheer for Boston..." 🤣
Sweeney, Neely etc perfect fits for the dnc
Sweeney said today, during the news conference, that he's confident to have Swayman signed before December 1st. Guess he doesn't;t see a problem with the Bruins being without their starting goalie for the first two months of the season.
Ottawa. Please. Sign Swayman.
Good for Sway, raise dem goalie salaries, Boston is going absolutely nowhere with that roster so you might as well cash in
My hopes for Boston losing Swayman after trading Ullmark away keeps growing.
Swayman gets 10 million then I wonder how much Igor gets in NY? 12-13
Sway is worth maybe 7 million
The reports Swayman asked for 10 million a season have been refuted.
@@TheHockeyGuy I’ve heard Igor is looking for 12 million and I don’t know if they should pay that , he’s great but I’ve seen teams win the cup with a goalie paid way less. It’s going to be interesting
I would be very surprised if he is asking that much. Igor is the best goalie in the league though, so he should be in the Bobrovsky range with a cap hit of 10 million or higher.
@@TheHockeyGuyreports are shesterkin wants to be the highest paid. So maybe 10.75 would be the cap hit? Would make him the highest paid goalie for a long time coming.
Too much hype on New Jersey. Is Jacob Markstrom going to be the best goaltender in the league ? 😂
where is Rogers news.
Last news video.
@@TheHockeyGuy today Rogers Buy Bell for $6B Today.
I already reported on it in the last news video.
Mercer ain’t signing for a while, vibes this year are already in the toilet, 7th place in the Metro ahoy
If the Leafs are smart Tavares won't get over $3 million.
@@TheHockeyGuy that’s what I mean it seems pointless because call on the ice stands and coaches wouldn’t risk the 5v3. With that said I don’t like penalty being challenged
So coaches will only challenge it when they know the call will be overturned. That's the idea of the rule change.
What we really need are high speed cameras in every arena.
connor brown is on the right track. i can picture bettman losing it....when edmonton meets canda's team for this season's cup.
Canada's team? Are you saying Toronto??? Lmfao
Seider is on the Wings camps roster, despite being an RFA still.
He isn't there. Larkin said this morning that he isn't
@@JarradBruessel32 I mean, he was listed on the roster published by the Red Wings and he just signed, so he will be there.
@@SleepWalker88 yup larkin said this morning he wasn't there, seider just signed, so he needs to get his visa renewed so he can get back here. He will be here within the week
Well, on my NHL 24 career mode, Swayman signs a one year deal with the Bruins for this year and then gets a 4 year deal with the Wings next year. I mean, if it’s on NHL 24, it has to be real, right?
Idea for the next collective bargaining agreement: Temporary Training Camp contracts for FAs who haven't signed.
I just dont understand how they hand Pasta a huge bag a year ago and now wanna beat swayman up over a mil or 2... Do you want a competitive team or not? Your team is pretty old as it is!
They've been saying the Bruins are old for more than ten years
I'm sure they'll show their age at some point
What's crazy is spending all that extra $ on Zadorov. Really don't understand that huge contract when your star goalie needs his prime years deal.
what kinda question is that, Pastrnak is one of the best in the league, Swayman never carried the load in his career and his high is 44 games
I watched all of swayman’s interviews over the summer and that smirk on his face tells me that he wants to take them and Jacobs to the cleaners and good on him! Now they’re crying about business side of it when they treated him as an object last summer
Personally I’d like to see the Bluejackets retire Gaudreau’s number at home against the Flames and for the Flames to do the same at home Vs the Bluejackets
Hey Jacob’s family stop being cheap
That's not how it works. You can only spend up to the cap. Swayman getting a few more million doesn't mean the Bruins have a bigger payroll.
Recommendation for Boston fans, a cool nickname would be sweeney Todd the butcher of the Bruins? Inherited a good team and butchered it??
I don't think there should be a delay of game penalty if the goalie knocks the opposition's net off its moorings.
I could see a Swayman signing a contract of $8.75 million AAV 8 years.
As a Canucks fan, I hope Swayman gets $10 million a season. Drain the Bruins dry.
Hows Demko's health?
@@dipeachio6832Not Good
LOL! Never throw rocks from a glass house.
Is it better to drain the Bruins or strip them of their star goalie? If another team will offer more he could walk, and they’d have lost both goalies
Watch Columbus light the league on fire; just like Vegas did with Vegas Strong.
Instead of Vegas strong, they'll call it "Columbussin'" or something
@@neeltheother2342 That is a decent slogan
The Bruins are being their old, old cheap selves!
@@jonmendelson1104 ah I misread. Thanks
Ah, contract negotiations
When everyone not involved, has a opinion on what should be happening
You love to see it
I don't tend to disagree often with your takes THG, but I do believe this presser from Sweeney wasn't as attacking towards Swayman as you present it. He literally said, Swayman is "rightfully so" not coming to camp without a contract. And he never uses the words "withholding services". He stated that his disappointment was the fact that he (Sweeney) wasn't able to get a deal done before camp.....not taking shots at Swayman here. Yes he took shots at Biz Nasty and some of the reporting, for sure. But not at Swayman. They wouldn't have traded Ullmark if there was ever risk here. The team went through this with Pastrnak, Carlo and McAvoy. It's going to get done. The cap space is there for it. Much love THG!
Sweeney should be fired
Toronto signing Tavares was their biggest mistake😁
This is such a weird one for me because I want to say yes and no.
@@tankdiggs8974 he is good player, leader and superstar, but toronto has never need him, they could have used 11 mil much more better, like for goaltender, defense and bottom 6 attack
@Andyyy48 that's why I agree but at the time when a stat like him becomes available. You sign him. He was also the first major star to want to come back to Toronoto. We knew it was going to age badly. What are we complaining about. We knew how this was going to play out. Grab a 2nd line center bump Johnny T to 3rd line. Fix his dollars next year and LETS FUGGIN GOOOOO G.L G.
Leave it to Don Sweeney and Cam Neely to mess everything up.
