These two commentators' vibe is what I'm missing these days. Silky smooth voices, true players' knowledge and insight, friendly yet professional tone, mutual respect, and genuine passion for the sport. Tough to get a pair with all of the above.
Don’t even get me started. It’s criminal how underrated this combo was. Like I’m talking Barry Bonds, Michael Jordan level at their job. Bob Costas, Marc Albert, Gary Thorne, Chris Berman are a few others. All of them are from the same generation. They just don’t make them like that anymore.
David Ortiz in a Twins uniform. Johan Santana coming out of the bullpen. Crazy stuff. Tim Hudson really blew it for Oakland in this one blowing a 5-1 lead. Twins had no business winning this game after the bad start. That Koskie bomb in the 3rd gave Minnesota life.
A’s should have had Zito starting game 1 but they wanted to get him win #23 to solidify his Cy Young credentials and it cost them their preferred rotation, according to legend. If we win game 1 I think we sweep them. Except we’re cursed. So we still would have found a way to blow it.
@@TastyMeat8675I assume you are referring to the A’s because nobody in their right mind thought the Twins were the better team. I think legends of being cursed usually take a significant amount of time to develop and gain validity but after this four year stretch from the A’s I immediately drew the direct line back to the Canseco trade. We lost to Toronto in the ALCS that year and didn’t make the playoffs until 2000 and went on what I consider to be one of, if not THE, most ridiculous playoff runs of all time. 2000: lost to Yankees in 5 after being down 2-1 2001: lost to Yankees in 5 after winning first two games on the road 2002: Blew massive lead in game 1, lost in 5 to Twins after being up 2-1 2003: lost in 5 to Red Sox after being up 2-0 2006: swept Twins, got swept by Tigers 2012: lost in 5 games after trailing 0-2 2013: lost in 5 games after being up 2-1 2014: held 4 run 8th inning lead in WC game against Royals with the most dominant playoff pitcher at the time on the mound and lost in 12 AFTER scoring in the top of the 12th 2018: lost WC game to Yankees 2019: lost WC game to Rays 2020: beat CWS 2-1 in first round, lost to a sub-.500 Astros team in second round The Canseco Curse…

Man the twins should have won the series this year. They were stacked with Hunter and Ortiz.
Angels were by far the better team, unfortunately…….maybe the Angels just got hot at the right time, but it was their year.
Wow forgot AJ Pierzynski went 4-4. Fun memory. The main thing I’d remembered of this game was Romero’s strikeout of Tejada to end the 8th.
And this is the only playoff series that the Twins have won since their 1991 World Series. That’s sad
Best version of the espn baseball theme, pretty hard to find this version anywhere isolated.
That espn theme song is a classic

From 2000 to 2003 My Hometown Oakland Athletics lost four straight alds. Like DIZZAMN!!! Memories!
All in game 5, two of the series we held a 2-0 series lead, and this one we led 2-1
A couple of them to the yankees as well. The athletics just couldn't get past them
The fact that we lost this game still pisses me off
We were just the better team. Plain and simple

Thanks for this.
How'd you find these games
The twins should have kept this team together.
Why did they cut Ortiz? He had a decent 2002 year
Who remembers papi as a twin
My God guardado was bad.
