    Thank you! It was my 40 amp under the hood. The dealer wanted $700, but not now since you helped me out!

    This video helped me fix the problem. My 2011 Yukon Denali had a pump that was failing. At some point I noticed that it just stopped making noise. I replaced the compressor but it didn’t activate. Yes, that failing compressor cause the 40 amp fuse to also blow. My fuses were not located in the same spot, nor labeled the same. However, I simply used your described amperage to pull the fuses until I found the faulty one. I figured the amperage wouldn’t change throughout the years.

    This video is very informative. I might add that if all your fuses are fine, disconnect the - lead on the battery and the warning in your info center will go away.

    +D Cloes Thanks for the video! This is good stuff! I recently made a rookie mistake on my 2007 Escalade EXT. I got all brand new suspension about 6 months ago. New Electric front Shocks, new Air rear shocks and of course a brand new Dorman Air Compressor. I disconnected the old air compressor about 3 months prior to installing all the new stuff..."needed to save...spendy" Anyways the connector or Pigtail that plugs into the compressor was just nasty! It poured out sand, dirt, and loose green corrosion dust. Was BAD. Didnt have a spare one at the time. Cleaned it up good! Plugged in the new compressor. Everything was AWESOME! Worked!
    Two months later - That pigtail was just in my head constantly. I would think about how long it would go until it would die. What the hell...Ordered a new one. AC Delco PT1635. This Female connector came with 8 wires. The Air Compressor pigtail has 7 wires. No Biggie! Spliced all wires, and changed out that nasty pigtail! I FORGOT to disconnect battery! Sure enough the red wire "positive" hit the frame....sparked. Finished up the job. Plugged it into compressor. Now I have the Service Suspension message. DAMN! Shoulda left it alone! Checked my fuses under the hood there STUD1 and STUD2. I don't see any breaks or black marks..hmmm Next is to check the IGN3 which I saw in the video but not sure if the 2007+ have that one.
    Any idea before getting knee deep in electrical problems....If I touched wires and got a spark during my install of the new pigtail where should I look first?? Relay? and does that spare wire on the pigtail that is not being used need to be completely taken off?? Or grounded? Its not spliced and it is protected by electrical tape as well.
    THANK YOU!!

    Make sure your air hose from the compressor dryer (above compressor) is not pinched. I changed all 4 shocks and still heard the compressor running all the time. I checked the air hose and it was pulled so tightly up and harnessed the hose was in a V shape. I pulled some slack out and made a nice U shape and problem solved. I think they made this mistake at the factory cuz this is the original compressor. Now it hardly runs and it’s quiet when it does...2000 Yukon SLT

    Hi. I'm here because the compressor in my 06 Escalade never cycles. There are no check engine lights or codes displayed that I'm aware of. would a blown fuse or relay trigger a code? or would it be possible one of the fuses or relay is blown and there is no code showing? the dealer replaced the compressor a couple years back for over $2,000 and I don't want to go back. any help would be appreciated

    • @sbond1963
      @sbond1963 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Russell I'm all fixed did it myself in driveway. The compressor had failed due to leaking airbags on the shocks. no codes because the electrical is good. But that doesn't mean the compressor can turn over if it's dead. didn't even need to jack it up. Just pop out there compressor pop out the shocks replace everything all done

    • @sbond1963
      @sbond1963 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Russell in this video I believe he said he has no codes and he's testing everything. So his electrical is good but his compressor is unable to turn over. Frozen. So in his case I'm he needs to replace the compressor at minimum. But he also needs to know why the compressor died. Probably like mine the compressor wore out from running all the time because the airbags are leaking. he needs to rebuild the compressor with the arnott kit. once he has a functional compressor put a little soapy water on the shocks and watch for leaks. the airbags and the shock get dirty. rub going over bumps going up and down they rub and wear out. Lesson learned keep the air bags and the shock Tower clean

  • @tokuzumi1

    I'm just bypassing the entire system. Bilstein HD shocks, 5 resistors to trick the system into thinking everything is operational (4 shocks, 1 compressor). All in, $300. Much better than the $200-300/shock and $200 for a new compressor.

    • @thomasskenandore8543
      @thomasskenandore8543 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tokuzumi1 do you need the resistors? Can't you just cut the wires and twist them together to get the same result. Just wondering if I really need the resistors or not?

    • @tokuzumi1
      @tokuzumi1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Skenandore I found the resistors aren't necessary. I removed the 30amp RTD fuse, and the stand alone relay just outside of the fuse box in the engine bay. Disconnected the battery first, removed the fuse and resistor, and then reconnected the battery after a half hour. Been like that for 2-3 weeks with no errors.

    You are not very clear to jump 30 to 87 since you say 87 is ground and 30 is red wire that goes to the compressor so if you give ground supposed to 30 how is that gonna work so what I think you meant is your ground 87 and 12 V 30 is that correct?

    i replace my rear air shocks on gmc yukon denali but, how can i reset the service rite control

    • @FixitMys3lf
      @FixitMys3lf  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bruno Lopez You don't reset it like say a "check engine" light. It goes off by itself if the system is healthy. If you've replace your shocks and the "Service Ride Control" message is still showing, it means something else has failed. Most likely culprit from what I've found is the exhaust function of the air compressor assembly unit. The OEM ones have a wire that corrodes in the exhaust solenoid - the compressor works, but can't release the air, so the system disables itself and gives you the Service Ride Control message.

    Is there a kit for getting rid of the air system and having a regular shock suspension?

    • @kurtfmoeller
      @kurtfmoeller 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. There are different options... you can just replace them with regular shocks, but then you need to find someone to updated the ECU so it stops using autoride. The other option is look at something like what arnott industries sells which replaces them but then has a something you connect the autoride to which just sends happy signals back so the system thinks everything is ok.

      I hear you Angelo. This system is crazily over-engineered in my opinion.
      I've had the Service Ride Control message appear multiple times. 2 times, it was an issue with compressor unit. Last time, one of the blue wires inside the wire harness (truck side) had completely eroded from salt on roads because in testing the wires, the dealer mechanic had poked holes in the insulation.
      I think the place to start ALWAYS, is the fuses under the hood. Next, I'd jumper the relay under the hood and see if the compressor turns on. If it does, let it run for a bit and then listen for leaks.
      If it runs when you use the jumper wire, then I'd suspect the exhaust on the compressor unit isn't working....The exhaust releases air from the air ride system after the addition weight is no longer on your truck. If the system can't purge air, you'll get the service ride control message on the dash.
      Glad to read that Autozone now sells the compressor unit with Lifetime Warranty, but I'll bet Amazon is still cheaper.

      This was my problem as well - your comment prompted me to check. Right shock worked but no air ever delivered to left shock. I disconnected all lines from the T, which was visibly blocked, blew it out with compressed air. My left shock’s line was also blocked - blew it out as well, now system is working great.

      Hello if the compressor will not turn on by jumping power through the relay. Pull the compressor off the rear left of the vehicle behind the tire and do a self diagnostic . Apply power to the red wire and ground to the black wire on the compressor it should function . If doesn't its the compressor, If it does turn on with a test light check for power on the rear of the vehicle pigtail center pin. If none of these steps work for you let me know I trouble shooted this problem for many years.

    I checked fuses and they were were all all good also changed the relay I jumped it like u said and the compressor came on but even with the new relay it won't work and I'm still getting the service ride control signal. Any other suggestions on what it might be?

      tendersoul82 Disconnect your battery for about 15 minutes. That worked for me the two times I had to work on my air ride. I changed out both rear shocks and then later the compressor on my 2004 EXT. Disconnecting the battery both times worked in resetting the computer to delete the code.

      ***** My guess is first, the exhaust solenoid on your compressor. It's the high failure part of the system. Amazon sells a complete unit now that is awesome. No more splicing wires. No rebuilding the dryer assembly. It's a 30 minute swap. 3 bolts to loosen, the air line, the exhaust line, and plug in the connector and you're done.
      The one for my 2005 Denali was "Dorman 949-000 Suspension Compressor" on Amazon. The best part is, it has a LIFETIME WARRANTY!!!!
      I've had to fight this problem 3 times now. First time, it was the exhaust solenoid wire had corroded. Second time, Arnott sent me a defective unit. The 3rd time, the light blue wire on the wire harness on the truck side had corroded all the way through because the GM tech that troubleshot the "first" failure poked his test pobe through the wire insulation exposing the wire to the salt on the road.
      Hope this helps others.
      Oh, and you don't "reset" the "Service Ride Control" message. It AUTOMATICALLY goes off, "IF" the system is healthy. And I mean it goes off immediately on next start of car.

      +D Cloes Are there more than one Location of fuses for the daytime running lights? If so can you please tell me which one of the fuses are for the daytime running lights? Not the relay fuse under the hood. Just the small fuse in the interior fuse box inside the vehicle. Thank you soo much!

    checked fuses, I replaced the bad 40amp fuse then I replaced the autolevel control relay. still getting the "service ride control" message, what next???

      Late reply, but in case others are reading, jumper the relay under the hood and see if the compressor comes on. This bypasses the system's logic and sends power to the compressor. If it pumps, it's most likely IMO the exhaust on the compressor unit.
