Hey Bruce, I bought 1 of those crossbows from Cabela's too. It's fun but can be very dangerous. Just a quick tip. Take the red dot off and loctite that 1 small screw/tiny nut holding that flat spring clip that holds the bolt/arrow in place.( I used crazy glue). I almost lost mine after 30-40 shots it fell apart. I was lucky that I was inside the house when it vibrated lose. In the bush it would of fell off never to be seen again. Also the picatinny rail is only held in by 1 small wood screw as well and the rail can and will pivot side to side and will throw off red dot accuracy. I put 1 small drop of crazy glue( and a dash of baking soda on it for a quick dry) on the bottom of the rail each side between rail and crossbow body. 1 drop of crazy glue on each side is all that's needed. To much and it would probably be impossible to remove if you ever had to take it off. Happy shooting!
PS. Plastic target bolts/arrows 60 for around 30.00 from Amazon.ca. And hunting 2 blade razor sharp 6.3" bolts I bought from Aliexpress 48 aluminum bolts for less than 55.00 with shipping. I've spent more on bolts than I paid for my crossbow...lol! But I'm ready for armageddon! Ha ha!

Wow, thanks for the tips. I’ll be doing that tomorrow! I haven’t shot it in a little while but every now and then I fire it into something in the garage lol.
      Such a fun little crossbow.
      Thanks again

@@BruceLyeg Hi Bruce, 1 more thing I forgot to mention. The elevation/up adjustment on my red dot was lose as a goose. I unscrewed it and put a small o-ring on it. A small rubber band warped a couple times around the thread would work. And after 50+ shots it's still shoots dead on.
      Your welcome and happy shooting!

I would advise avoiding the use of any sodium carbonate mixture with super glue especially on tension driven firearms. Especially these cheaply made non genuine gun metal made firearms. Aluminum ( or even pot metal) body design firearms does not mix well with super glue and sodium based mixtures. As a matter of fact these type of weapons should be taken to an experienced gun smith to fix. Absolutely no firearm should be JB weld fixed of any sort. The careful re machining of the original holes and threads should be done. No glue type repairs should be done on the pressure points. That spring that holds the bolt in is also part and parcel of the safety detent on the other end. Chances are if that screw works loose after many uses, it's because A... Someone's been constantly dry firing the weapon or B it developed a hairline crack in the inferior quality of the unit. Or C the hole became stretched due to factory not fastening the component correctly. Lots of times gunsmiths won't even bother with these inferior built units because the material is too cheap and it costs more than the unit itself to do the repairs, because it will fail again in short order. If you want quality, pay the price for a good one with a good service warranty. Parts should never have to loosen or fall off. That's why I hate loading units like this cocked, just incase the screw shears off or something and you lose your fingers. If the hold down loosens, I would return the item to the store rather than Jerry rig glue components to correct things. I would glue household appliances, but not fire arms like this where you can lose fingers because of shoddy repairs. Inspect the firearm regularly after use. If that clip even moves side to side, return the item. You can't gorilla glue fingers and skin back on or repair an eyeball with gorilla glue. Safety first.

Mine is very similar (even the packaging is the same.) The bow limb is likely fiberglass and the plastic fins on an arrow, it's called "fletching". A quiver is to hold the arrows/bolts. I had to fabricate my own bow stringer using light rope. Be very careful these are not toys. "We don't need no stinking instructions". Lmao

  • @houndsmanone4563
    @houndsmanone4563 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Bruce, i didn't see this video. We called the feathers on an arrow, "flethings". I don't know if that's what they're called on a crossbow bolt. Those metal arrow points we called, "field points" on a standard arrow. Heck, it's been so long since I fiddled with any of this so I probably have it all messed up. I have a couple mini crossbows I bought at princess auto, same idea as this but not as nice looking. The bolts that come with it do break easy lol and they aren't consistently accurate, same with the plastic ones, out of hundreds bought only a couple dozen shot consistent. Longer bolts I found work nicely, I've had 9" aluminum that flew nice and am getting some 7.5" delivered tomorrow. I may go and get one of these from CenterPoint in Cabela's Edmonton south store, depending on how bad the snow flies overnight. With those bolts I always check for loose vanes and glue the ones that were loose. I like fixed sights so I may just keep them on and leave the red dot off, thanks for the video

@@BruceLyegI bought some carbon fiber bolts off amazon that imo are better than the 6.3" bolts that are standard with these types of xbow, well worth buying. They are listed as 7.5" but with the removable field tips they measure 8.5" and are slightly thicker. The extra length and between 40-45 grains heavier I find they are more accurate when shooting past 10 yards, the only thing I did with them is trim the vanes slightly so they don't rub the cocking arms when fired. They also have ones with 2 bladed broad heads for small game. The hornet loves them and they hit hard enough to rock my blackout target slightly and penetrate to the vanes with the broadheads and almost to the vanes with the field tips.

      1. Cocking latch is ok (but can see possible problems in the future)
      2. The arrows that came with it break very easy but the cheap Amazon ones are very inexpensive and durable.
      3. My sight seems pretty good so far.
Good advice, I've already waxed the strings

Hell no! That is about 50 lb crossbow with a "pop up trigger-string" system. That is the worst trigger-string system! Check the Horizone Redback trigger system and u can check the draw weight too. I tested both of them, the Redback is 76 lb more more way stronger as this one! If u don´t belive me, make a vid about measure the draw weight! :D

@@Richard.Hwhat’s your favorite compact crossbow, in terms of accuracy? I’ve found neither this or the Barnett Demun are very accurate

    • @Richard.H

@@BruceLyeg You have right, they are not so accurate, because of the junk trigger system. The nock (arrow end) and the string doesn´t touch eachother at the cocket/loaded position. This problem generate more arrow spreading and lower string life. Please check some pictures about the HZ RedBack at the cocked/loaded position from the side, You will see the different. Btw my favorite is the HZ RedBack (not the magazine version) Unfortunately the HZ have no "shoulder extension", but i bought one from 3D printers, installed it and working well. If You wanna know my absolute favorite crossbow, that is the TenPoint Siege 425. Not overpowered, light weight, compact and working with 16" arrows. :)
