This was my elementry school. This video just broke my heart. I did however see 2 of my teachers names by a classroom. Before the school closed the gym was maybe a couple of years old. Seeing this just breaks my heart
I went here in the 90s :( This is Norton Shores, BTW, not Muskegon Heights. They share a ZIP code, so a lot of people confuse them. The guy who bought this place was doing weird things with it, I lived right down the road. He had boats and bulldozers parked there, and there would be people there with lights on in the middle of the night. I wouldn't be surprised if he was making a meth factory in there.
This is actually located in Norton Shores but was part of the Muskegon Public School. I went here back in the early 90's so sad to see what it has become.
@@Mandi1082 Thank you for the reply, but that still doesn't help me. Can you bring up an actual address for me to reference? I would appreciate your time in doing so. Please & thank you. :)
Thanks for another fascinating video! Although admittedly, I missed having your own narration which, without it, made me realize you bring a certain "unexplored/mystery" element to your other videos. Makes me feel like I am right there. This one was almost like the Land Bank Authority guy was trying to sell you on the property. lol! All that to say, keep up the great work. I really appreciate the time and archive photo editing that go into these!
Would love to own an old school. Personally I think the All Government should be responsible for Asbestos removal cost, since it was approved by government agencies in the first place.
The location is actually in Norton Shores not Muskegon Heights. The building is a Muskegon Public School. The news story even says Muskegon Schools and is in Norton Shores.
First!!!!! Edit: Also, I love the old early 2000s boombox and the chalkboard that read November 29th 1999. it's literally been on that chalkboard without being erased for 20 years. And the old overhead projector! I t really makes you think, "Wow, did the teachers or anybody care what happens to that school?" I guess in the back of your mind you always wonder as a kid. I hear now in 2019 kids only have Chromebooks that they use, no lockers and that they actually get excited when they're going to use a pen and paper.
I went to this elementary school around 1998-1999.. It has brought back so many memories. Thank you.

I’ve noticed that there is a lot of run down or abandoned/sold schools in Muskegon public school district. It’s really sad to think about.
My nieces and nephews and my kids went to that school it's so sad to see in such a disarray that will the wonderful School
Very cool, would love to check this out, only about 45 minutes away from me.
Love how you guys do the news reports mixed in, very cool.

this is muskegon heights
lol, I lived there, I know my own address. Unless they've done some recent rezoning, Heights is West of Getty.

Can you name a nearby street corner for reference? I do not know where this is located but being from the area I feel like I should.
@@Alaninbroomfield this was on Broadway before you go over the bridge into Fruitport
@@Mandi1082 Broadway is in Muskegon proper. No where near Fruitport.
@@Alaninbroomfield if you go behind Walmart and Sam's club that is Broadway which is in the Fruitport Area.

Would love to own an old school.

I wouldn't trust that guy with any secrets... Great explore, now it's time to party like it's 1999!
i live one minute from here, ive had my eye on this building for a while... is it worth a daytime exploration?

My 3rd grade class photo (1964-65). me down on the lower left.
Time to go explore those trap door rooms 🤫🤫🤫
I wish I could restore it!
This school is creepy I was walking by at 4 am and all the lights turned off on it's own
Thanks for the tour.

Really? Must be an urban thing. Not in poor rural areas...
Yes they cared. But it was out of their hands.
Would be awesome if you guys could ever check out Froebel school! It’s such a beautiful building on the outside!
Although most of them are probably long gone I have to wonder how those kids in the yearbooks lives worked out for them.
Great video as always.
I went there 2 years before it closed wow
No a heights school...it was Muskegon public schools elementary
I don’t know if anyone else remembers but in like 94or 95 the students buried a time capsule there. I wonder if anyone’s dug it up
That sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't remember any details at all. Do you know where it was buried?
I remember doing that 😃
Schooools out forever
I live in Muskegon
Damn smh
👍👍👍👍👍
Phillips school is NOT in Muskegon Heights!!! The title of this post should be changed.
omg
Muskegon heights is a horrible city!!
