    Never been a First Responder, but as a truck driver since 2005 I’ve been first on scene. My dad as an RN always had a med bag in the car so that’s where I learned it from. Doesn’t take much education or training to potentially save someone’s life.

    I like these upgrades. I appreciate that they are always looking to improve their product and foil the knockoffs for a bit. Thanks for sharing this new model with us.

    Sorry I didn't order from you! I just received the two CAT Gen 7 tourniquets I ordered through Amazon and just now found your TH-cam channel when I did a search on how this particular model works. I'll check out your webpage and as I continue to build my medical kit (I'm a critical care nurse) I'll buy from you.

    Added a couple (2) hairbands to my SOE EDC w/Cobra belt buckle to retain the tourniquet to the belt. The SOE belt keeps the tourniquet handy for dangerous sports and not just shooting dangerous paper targets. Thank you for this great product and video ! tjl

    I took this week a Stop the Bleed class put on by one of Canada's premiere Trauma centers at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. When it got to hands on with the Gen 7 CATs I immediately went to the plastic injection molding plate and checked it. :) I remembered your videos on the fakes. I know they would have the real deal but I still checked. Man they get tight.

    CAT's the best. In our volunteer groups: CERT and Sr. Police Acad. they teach us everything about these. Daughter, USMC, Korea.

    Thanks for all the good information. Do you recommend learning to use the various types of tourniquets? ie CAT SOF-T, SWAT, RAT etc? Or pick one you like and master that one?

      Dude if you feel like you have to “master a tourniquet” that’s pretty fucking sad 🤣

    I bought a CAT Gen 7 color blue straight off of North American Rescue however it says for training purposes only. It does seem legit but I would like to know for sure as to if It will actually work in a real incident because I have not seen that label on the other colors. Yet the blue is more expensive which is confusing because why would a product used only for training be more expensive as oppose to the original black.

      Idk

      *The blue model is marked "for training only" to make sure you are not using your other CATs for training.*
      *You can practice over and over again with the blue one, but should never use one that has been used before in a real life situation.*
      *They are a bit more expensive probably because they make less blue ones compared to the other colors.*
      *You should carry a black or orange one and train regularly with the blue one at home.*
      *If you never used the training version it could be used in a real situation.*
      *Get a second one (orange or black) and practice witht he blue one.*

    I don't see enough difference in the buckle/strap to make it ok to use the single slot for a lower extremity. Does that mean you could always use just the bottom slot, or is having only one slot make the Gen 7 less effective than the double slot buckle. Sounds like a marketing change without any medical backup.

    • @SkinnyMedic
      @SkinnyMedic  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +DefenseSite They have data to show you can get enough compression with only using a single buckle.

    • @DefenseSite
      @DefenseSite 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SkinnyMedic That's great, but that needs to be in the video. You can't just say that it's ok without providing empirical data, especially with a component that they've been adamant about using in the specified manner.

    Is there any difference in effectiveness with the blue one? I purchased 2 simply because it was my color preference, but after opening read that it says for training purposes only. This worries me since I currently use it on my blow out kit, any information is appreciated!

    Great video! I have a question though that's a little off topic. I'm going to be starting an EMT-B program soon and need a good stethoscope, do you have any recommendations. Thanks.

    • @inversionlayer

      +Stephen Mattern 3M Littmann Classic II S.E. Stethoscope is a very good non-amplified stethoscope.

    • @nodave77
      @nodave77 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephen Mattern If you are just starting out one of the $30-40 littmann's - like the lightweight II SE is just fine. You are going to be learning breath sounds and blood pressures and that scope is just fine for that purpose. I would wait until you decide you're going to stick with a career in ems before spending money on a real nice set of ears. Unless you have the money to blow, by all means go for a cardiology iii.

      SkinnyMedic - Thanks, I know that was a stupid question. But I was thinking if you're bleeding this much to need one - you'll be in shock. Who has a pen except EMI when they get there?
      Also, what is approx. the max circumference that this can go around? Thanks.

      I am not how large it will go around, never measured. You can hook two together if you have to.
