The Yogscast and accidentally not being in adventure mode. My favorite.
To be fair, in that first challenge, "Try To Die", they NEEDED to place blocks as per the instructions, which you can't do in adventure mode. So them being in survival mode is just fine.
EDIT: I had no idea there were command block codings map makers can use for very specific block placement/destruction, intended for the map players in adventure mode. Consider me wrong. Just shows I never play adventure mode, and haven't touched vanilla Minecraft in a couple years now.
Yeah the blocks are coded to only be placed on specific blocks, they actually broke the last map because they placed a pressure plate in an illegal spot
@@Giviero You can see in the video at the start of the piston room, the tooltip says what you can place the blocks on.
@@Giviero You can place blocks in adventure mode, you just cant mine stuff without the proper tool.

2:30 The explanation for the hunger not going down there: You have 2 different bars related to food. Hunger and Satiation. Hunger is the visible haunches there. Satiation is invisible. Hunger only goes down once satiation reaches 0.
I have never understood why that isn't visible, such a odd decision. I always use the mod that has food show how much huger and sat they add and ads a yellow overlay to show satiation.

@@sawsonex3215 there are a ton of mods like that that just should be vanilla, enchanted book descriptions, weapons and armor stats, heck look how long it took to get a in game crafting book (jei is still leagues better)
FYI it's called saturation. Minor difference but thought I'd point it out lol

@@ZomgitsZed I used to watch them. Like 10 years ago. After a few years of all TTT and GTA videos I just drifted away from the channel a bit. But I have really been enjoying the resurgence of Minecraft content. Even after all these years I am still an Alpha style player :)

Man I've been rewatching your old videos recently. I remember being like 10 when I first saw your first Minecraft series, even now at 22 they're still nice to watch. It's honestly just the dumb fun and not taking things too seriously which makes your videos so great. The world's already full of constant news, updates, fears. It's nice to just slow down for a little bit.
Dude i'm 45 and still watch since the beginning and you're right it's just nice to unwind with some chill minecraft and forget about other shit going on. Age is just a number.
Ben always has the most low key, casual humour to the point that half his funny remarks go unnoticed. So subtle but so so funny

So If I am not mistaken around 15 years ago give or take a year "you" The YOGSCAST coined the term (hunger haunches) for the Minecraft hunger bar and people used that term for years. People and this includes the Yogscast forget that you were the golden age of Minecraft back in the day. We have such short memories. :(

Try to die makes me mourn the old damage sound. The challenge would be so much funnier with all the "ooAf" we would be hearing.

Oh well, he managed to figure it out. Though the lever was apparently supposed to go on the iron block, so I guess he accidentally cheated.

Yeah that was very simple. Praise to the map maker for making it so clear. Each thing you're given is indicated to be placed on a different block, like the 5 red concrete having the 5 spots. Simon catches that there's 4 spots, yet fails to realise the fifth spot keeps you in place until Gee pops out, and he never realises the other odd blocks indicate the redstone arrangement. Even the elementary instruction "power the diamond block" is just discarded in favour of tossing the lever on the wall 😂😂, which happens to work because of the redstone arrangement on the other side, but it easily could not have, and certainly wouldn't have worked without multiplayer, because a single person couldn't pull the lever from tbe crush zone unless it's on the iron block.
It seems they're in survival instead of adventure, which let's them place anywhere.

It seems that y'all are not in adventure mode, which restricts what blocks can be placed or broken. Specific items can be set by the mapmaker to be placeable on specific blocks, or to be able to break specific blocks, and that info can be seen when hovering over them in the inventory. For example, in the piston crushing puzzle, you were meant to be able to place each item only on a specific block.
Yea but to be fair they broke the piston puzzle by being in multiplayer instead xD
Would this also have prevented them from placing the water block simply on the wall, which it seems they didn't try for some reason?
@@Erhannis Yes. They did that properly. In adventure mode you could only place the water at the top of that drowning chamber that you parkour upto. But since they weren't in Adventure they could have placed it 2 high on any wall and stood in it

I mean you can jump to your death in #3 as well. You also could just put the water on a wall and stay under it. And what even was that #2 room? It takes about 5 seconds to figure out.

Adventure mode restricts block placement to specific blocks tha mapmaker coded in on command blocks. This includes blocking the water being placed on the general walls.
However the Yogs weren't in Adventure, they were in survival.
