    I received my PX8's today. Leather on cups and headband feel great. The sound is up front that sounds very good. I put the sensitivity on normal and it seems to work well in stopping the music when I take off the headphones. Granted I experienced a delay in it turning off the music by about 2 seconds. The headphones definitely have a quality luxury feel to them when you put them on. As the headphones are not too tight, I have not found any problems wearing them with my glasses. On my first day of listening that I like the EQ flat. So far I'm loving these headphones which are a nice size and are not distracting. Compared to my Bose In ears that I use at the gym (yes I know it's not a fair comparison) the PX8 had a more refined sound. It also has more bass than the PX8. I put the bass EQ on the PX8 up on notch from flat and it gets closer. As I have tinnitus issues, I won't play music loud. So at the lowe volume, the tad extra bass is welcomed.

      Thanks, for letting us know your thoughts on the PX8 headphones! I was waiting to hear your thoughts on them. These are definitely in my regular rotation of wireless Bluetooth headphones! These are by far one of the most flexible pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones on the market. The wear sensor was finicky in the beginning, but it works very well for me after some playing with the settings. The headphones have a low profile and I agree, they are definitely not distracting. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts!

      @@DelonteM I noticed with the noise canceling off, when you talk, you hear your voice inside your head like when you put your hands over your ears which I don't like. In the other modes you don't have this issue.
      With the pass through mode, there is some hiss but you don't notice it as much with the music playing. It's a good setting to use if someone is talking to you in the room without turning off the music (though for a real conversation you should turn off the music). The technology for noise cancelling is pretty much the same with all these Bluetooth headphones. However company's tweak it with different settings, and mic placements on the headphones. This along with how the ear cups seal around your ears make a difference.
      With noise cancelling on full mode, the hiss is reduced by at least half as pass through and is not an issue. I know people with the Focal Bathy's mentioned an issue with the hiss on them. However I believe you cant turn off noise cancelling totally so there is always a noise. I agree with what many have said, the noise cancelling on the PX8 works better with lower frequencies than higher frequencies. But I really don't want headphones to completely remove all noise in a room due to safety issues. Right now I am playing The Who Whose Next album and I hear the clarify of the reverb on vocals, separation with the guitars, good bass and drums. Very pleased with the sound.
      Sometimes when I grab the headphones to remove them, I accidentally hit one of the buttons on the right side. So you have to learn where to grab the headphones where it won't interfere with your settings.
      In regards to noise cancelling, they make a different beep sound for noise cancelling, pass through and off. So if you don't have the B&W app on, you can know what setting its on based on the beep sound you hear.
      I found myself wanting to play music a little softer with closed back headphones as closed back give more ear fatigue compared to open back headphones.
      I am already getting use to the buttons. I can stop the music, or go to the next song with no problem as well as change the noise cancelling settings.

    A very insightful review. Thank you so much. I am leaning heavily towards these headphones over the Focals for several reasons.
    1. The Px8 turns the music off when you remove them from your ears.
    2. They look better and are not as large as the Focals.
    3. The ANC is a little better on the PX8.
    4. Based on seveal comments from others , the Focal bleed music more so others next to you will hear the music.
    5. Better quality buttons on the PX8.
    6. They cost $100 less than the Focals.
    Focal pluses are
    1. A wider spatial sound.
    2. A 5 band Eq on the app.

    • @DelonteM
      @DelonteM  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Welcome back! The Focal Bathys also provides up to 24 bit/192kHz, while the PX8 gives up to 24 Bit/48kHz. A lot of people will not care about the wired version too much, but some do. I think the PX8 headphones are a bit more versatile when it comes to the different genres of music. Both headphones sound great, but they both also have their own signature sound. The sound leakage difference is pretty substantial… I will be doing a comparison video as well. I’m writing it up now, but am also in the process of moving… I should have it out soon though. I’ll be using a scoring system to try to help make an informed decision. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and sharing your thoughts!

    • @suvann540i
      @suvann540i ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not just trying to discount anything you said. just trying to help you make a decision.
      - the px8s don't have a dedicated assistant button you have to choose what you want the multi-function button to do. for apple users i realize this isn't a big deal, but for android users having the assistant at the ready is this shit.
      - better quality buttons, maybe. better designed absolutely not. I simply could not get fully comfortable getting used to them when using them blindly. the bathys buttons are ez to identify by touch.
      - transparent mode inferior to bathys
      - auto off with the px8s is nice, but to actually turn them off you have to hold the power button which i found to be hit or miss sometimes on how long you have to hold it. the bathys is a simple switch and you KNOW when they're off.
      - less comfortable over long periods of time compared to bathys. i'm pretty sure this comes down to how deep the drivers are from the ears.

    • @revelationsoundstudio
      @revelationsoundstudio ปีที่แล้ว

      @@suvann540i I think both headphones have their pros and cons. But I am more inclined to the PX8's as I like that they don't bleed music out as much as with the better seal around the ears the ANC is alittle better I'm sure most of us would he happy with either.
      With that being said I'm not rushing out to get either headphone. I love my Focal Clear MGs with my stereo. Neither headphones discussed here can compete with it. I use my Bose in ears for working out and the rare times I want headphones when not by my stereo. They sound pretty good. When going for a walk I like to hear what's around me and not focus on music.

    • @revelationsoundstudio
      @revelationsoundstudio ปีที่แล้ว

      I listened to the music samples you provided on Focals and the PX8's. This is a very helpful feature as many stores do not carry both and you cannot A/B them. Thank you so much for including this in your review. I do understand that TH-cam compresses things and it sound better in person. However as both are going through the same TH-cam compression, I like the Bathys sound better. It has a more refined sound over the PX8. One reviewer said on the PX8, he hears more compression on the top end and the bass is boosted a little too much for his taste. From your samples, I think the PX8 and Bathys are fine and a lot has to do with personal preference. However I prefer the Bathys, though I am sure on some music, that laid back sound is not the best character and the PX8 may be a better choice. But I don't care when the music is pushed forward which it appears the PX8 does to some degree. I also have the Focal Aria 926 in my stereo and have the Focal Clear MG's. So my tastes does go towards the character of Focal.

      @Keef Richards I’ve been using the Bathys more often than usual lately as well. I love how the music sounds natural without anything being boosted. The highs, mids, and lows just compliment each other. I’ll be doing a video comparing the Bathys to the PX8 directly very soon. I’m still getting settled in from a move and should have the studio area back in tack to get going again. Let me know what you think if you get a chance to watch that video! To all those who read reviewers' reviews of Bowers & Wikins PX8, please don't believe them at all because I am Singaporean and purchased my Bowers & wikins on 18th September 2023 from Jaben Singapore. Totally disappointing and not cheap at SGD 935.00.
    The sound quality is a complete let down as they claim the sound is ever so good I can honestly tell you it is complete rubbish why the bass frequencies are very boomy and muddy sound instead of clean bass. The mid-range vocals are very suppressed and lack richness and warmth. After adjusting the equalizer settings, the high frequencies are very bright sounding.
    The noise canceling is the worst, when I turn on the active noise canceling I 100% hear the noise of the standing fan wind spinning.
    Overall, everything claimed by those reviewers on TH-cam is untrue as they did not purchase the Bowers & wikins PX 8 themselves but loaned it to them for review purposes only. Please note, if not, you will regret it after buying it with your hard-earned money! ! ! ! ! !

    Looking forward to the comparison between the PX8 and Bathys. It seems you really can't go wrong with either one.
    Some don't like the larger Bathys size, the $100 higher costs or that the music bleeds through more where people next to you can hear your music more compared to the PX8. PX8 can also stop playing music when you take your headphones off which the Focal cannot do.
    Others like the larger sound stage and clarity of the Bathys. Josh in his review felt the plastic on them made them feel cheaper in quality. The PX8 has more of a premium feel and the Napa leather on the PX8 is better

I turned NC off (as this was the clearest sound to me) on the PX8 when compared and SoundCore was still slightly better. PX8's had slightly better sound stage and detail but not as clear as Q45's. But for me the sound was more important when choosing. Wish i could have both. Returned the PX8's. If money were no object would i keep the PX8's? No. Are the PX8's worth $549? No. Either SoundCore should be a $600 pair or PX8's should be $149.

      Thanks for leaving your honest assessment of both headphones. It’s good to hear from a variety of users so people know what to expect if they choose to make a purchase of either!

    What are these companies thinking...?

    You put in good info in this review like a list of cons. So bad dat you can't ajust the NC anymore. It is always so disappointing when company's remove functions in newer models. The idea of animating text over buttons @04:49 is great but just animate the text. The weird effects that you used makes it hard to watch.

    It makes no sense for me to have reviewed both this and the Bathys and not go into a more in depth comparison... You only mention a wider soundstage, but besides that, you say the same things in both videos

      Thanks for taking the time to watch! The actual comparison is coming soon! Things have been going a lot slower due to a move I’m in the process of completing, but I do have the PX8 vs Bathys already in the works. I’ll be breaking the two down using a point system in the actual comparison. In my comparisons, I generally state who should get one pair of headphones and who should get the other.

    These are NOT analogue compatible. The 3.5mm jack is attached to a usb.c which internally converts all sound to digital max 24/48 bit. No vinyl or hirez 😂. Mine returned.

      Im wondering, can you hear the difference between 24/48 and 24/192 ? I believe it is all in the head...but I could not feel difference or I dont know where to look for :P

      Of course you can its night & day. Of course not possible with PX8 as they are not capable.

      @@KenValent ok, and what would you recommend? I have DAC, ifi go link which in theory supports 24/192. But looking for headphones with kind of exciting signature, similar what B&W has, it does not have to be wireless, was thinking of beyerdynamic 900 X for instance but I'm afraid those will be too flat...
