I read that a new firmware for the PX8 has been released recently, which according to the description improves the sound. "3.0.0" can you say something about that?
As a user of PX8 for few months, I was not entirely happy with their sound quality (was lacking this fun factor). I decided to try lower class (PX7 S2) as I do really like B&W sound signature. My immediate feeling was, more balanced sound. Higher frequencies are not too harsh, bass is present but not disturbing, and I dont know if this is only me, but have a feeling of more space in sound stage. I personally like PX7 S2 more than pX8 and based on my experience I can say but PX7 S2 instead of PX8. But sound quality is a subjective thing of course.

You have to work on your review on sound quality. In everything you say has to be in comparison to the competition fighting for best sound quality (like the momentum 4). Talk about the tonality more precisely (sub and mid bass, midrange, treble), level of details, resolution, imaging. Offer some raw frequency graphs.
px7 s2s are also not suited for some genres eg bass heavy tracks getting muddled. The Px8s are great for all genres as its bass is crystal clear without affecting the mids and the highs
@@donnytramp6955 That's exactly what I needed to hear. I had a demo of the Px7 S2 and found that the bass was muddled and pushed back some of the vocals.

Although, do try to highlight the actual differences, if you like.
Go back to the reviews thw AirPod Max got in its first year out. IMHO, the Max are still superior headphones. Reviewer bias, conscious or unconscious, always favors the NEW as it implies improved.
I am not listening to my music by streaming, I have converted a selection of my favorite music to FLAC files, store and listen them from a FIIO player, a friend suggested the above was the best way to go, due to my lack of knowledge I follow his advice but I need to upgrade my existing B&W wired headphones, being a long time QUAD owner I initially thought of their headphones but your review has set me thinking, any suggestions to help me ?
Use a good headphones amplifier. If you buy a good one $200-400 you can increase the volume by a significant amount. The problem would be with the drivers or the headphones themselves. If they are not able to drive that high of a volume considering that the amplifiers are good, you will get crackling on your music, which would be because of the headphones. But these are loud in general than say Bose headphones. I have tried only Bose but their mobile department lacks volume in their internal Amp circuitry. I have read many reviewers mention B&W PW8 have good volume, I am probably going to buy these because I can return them back (says on the website).
In Sweden, where I live, these cost $750. A $150 price difference is far to big and that's why I likely won't be picking these up, even though I'd love to.

The PX8 are appreciably better. More natural timbre. Fuller, tighter bass. Smoother, yet still detailed highs. More expansive Soundstage. Slightly superior ANC. Cheaper. What more could you want?
I have tried the PX8 and I think the sound is disappointing. There is far too much bass which affects the middle and upper tones making the audio sound muddy. The aesthetics look good but I feel that they would not last long outside in the real world. All style and no substance.
Lost my interest when I realized it does not come with a wire connection option. I have had headphones with a dead battery. $700 is too much with this flaw.

@@jthomp72 prob around 44 pounds cuz the px earcups are real leather, and they cost 44 pounds to replace

Literally thinking the same thing, I have only found one direct comparison and he pretty firmly said PX8
Another option could be ML 5909 but the style isn’t as sexy as PX8 or even Bathys … sound wise these may not stop far away from each other.
get the px8s, they are cheaper, better anc and transparency as well as better build quality and a more engaging sound signature
save some money by getting the px7 s2s, they will build up less heat around your ears cuz their padding is made of leatherette(polymer)
Just to be sure, if Sony x10005 is the standard for ANC and we rate Sony ANC a 9.5 what would you rate the px7 ANC ❓
These would mostly compete with B&O H95, Airpods Max and Mark Levinsons. Not so much the XM5. Those things are only good at cancelling noise not at making pleasant sound
Lol, some real good bluetooth headphones are focal bathys, hifiman ananda bt and t+a Solitaire T
Those headphones you mentioned are total dogshit at making pleasant sound, same as the xm5s
@@那人冷靜一點 Focal Bathys is competition of the H95 and Mark Levinsons. Ananda is not a bt anc can so that’s like comparing Apple’s to oranges
@@diegorivera985 no it is not, it is a competition of t+a Solitaire, not h95

Then dont
Hi, which headphones to choose, BOSE QuietComfort 35 II or Bowers & Wilkins Px8 ?
Those are the two complete apple vs. orange comparison IMHO. If you want sound quality with no money issue, buy PX8. If you want a plastic made cheap but effective noice canceling buy 35 ii and save money.
Thank you for the comprehensive and polished review. 😊
I read that a new firmware for the PX8 has been released recently, which according to the description improves the sound. "3.0.0" can you say something about that?
Very good review, can you review the Kef Mu7?
Just had a pair of Px7 s2 today. First impressions. My Apple AirPods Pro sound WAY better. Think I’ll be returning them.
Can we get a list of your testing tracks?
Thank you I have the px7s and listen to music and tv the dilemma is px7 s2 or px8 your video was most helpful.
Good take as far as perception, Im inexperienced, but I have the Px8 compared directly in numerous A/B with the Focal Bathys. in a vacume, without the A/B I wouldn't know what I'm missing or gaining with either. both sound great. Id bet ur right that the PX7 S2 is just as good as the PX8, the only upshot is the build and Nappa Leather
@@dewittfiala5021 I had Bathys for 2 days and returned. I do definitely prefer sound signature of B&W. Now changing between PX8 and PX7s2 :) PX8 for calm listening at home and PX7s2 for outside. Both are great
Their best sound quality ever delivered from wireless a headset? How is that a bold statement? It's their latest top model. It better be!
Sony xm4> xm5 though
Does the built-in mic for calls work properly? I had to send my pair of PX-7 S2's back because it was DOA
Absolutely beautiful design but i'm more a Sennheiser kind of guy but still in terms of looks it beats all of them.
so how does the sound quality compare to the px7 s2? noticeable improvement?
Minor improvement
I say a moderate improvement but more importantly a completely different sound signature. Much punchier and tighter with more warmth.
basically more like the pxs but much clearer and engaging
px7 s2s are also not suited for some genres eg bass heavy tracks getting muddled. The Px8s are great for all genres as its bass is crystal clear without affecting the mids and the highs
@@donnytramp6955 That's exactly what I needed to hear. I had a demo of the Px7 S2 and found that the bass was muddled and pushed back some of the vocals.
I'm surprised you didn't mention AirPods Max for iPhone users.
How is the comfort earwise? I sold my XM5 because they pressed on my ears too much. Just not enough room for my monkey ears. I've gone back to the old MDR 1000X for now, which are perfect size wise
Thank you very much for this comprehensive review! You have been a great help.
Bad advertisement…in fact) these headphones plays a way different compare to what he stated
@@artemusp1894 First of all: This isn’t advertisement. People can be genuinely thankful and express it, believe it, or not.
Also, what he says in his video and what you say in your lengthy comment are basically the same. Granted, you described your thoughts in a much more detailed fashion, however I would still say that you simply used a more elaborate allegory when you were talking about how well separated the highs, mids and lows are when using these headphones.
Although, do try to highlight the actual differences, if you like.
I’m starting to regret buying the Apple AirPod Max, these look and sound a superior product.
Are these good with apple music on iphone? Does they support AAC codec?
Very fair review. I own a pair, but as I live in the Apple "walled garden" I'm not sure I able to get the best sound possible out of these headphones.
just use them wired
@@donnytramp6955 Hey Donny. Am I able to use these wired for Teams calls? I believe this might not be possible as the mic only works with Bluetooth?
@@ethanjaimes6252 you still have to turn them on when wired, or they won't work
@@donnytramp6955 Noted - I can live with that. Thanks Donny 👍🏻
Can you use them with ps5 (other consoles)? If yes, what is the performance?
Hi, can they play loud? I mean loud enough for movies? I'm tired of expensive headphones that don't play loud enough.
Thanks in advance
Use a good headphones amplifier. If you buy a good one $200-400 you can increase the volume by a significant amount. The problem would be with the drivers or the headphones themselves. If they are not able to drive that high of a volume considering that the amplifiers are good, you will get crackling on your music, which would be because of the headphones. But these are loud in general than say Bose headphones. I have tried only Bose but their mobile department lacks volume in their internal Amp circuitry. I have read many reviewers mention B&W PW8 have good volume, I am probably going to buy these because I can return them back (says on the website).
Good review. Definitely my next set of headphones.
Is the earpads removable?
Sir what's written on the box. Made in china or made in England
In Sweden, where I live, these cost $750. A $150 price difference is far to big and that's why I likely won't be picking these up, even though I'd love to.
Wait for black Friday/Christmas
Is sound stage wider than apple pro max headphone?
I will buy a PX8 for the holidays
Wonder how these compare to magna-planner headphones, I.e audeeze and oppo
So not worth it with Samsung s8 and TH-cam Premium?
It will be interesting to see how it's compared to Focal Bathys and Kef Mu7

The PX8 are appreciably better. More natural timbre. Fuller, tighter bass. Smoother, yet still detailed highs. More expansive Soundstage. Slightly superior ANC. Cheaper. What more could you want?
@@thomasferrarojr.9772 That's good to hear. But the h95 have a feature that is just priceless... Rotary dials!
I have tried the PX8 and I think the sound is disappointing. There is far too much bass which affects the middle and upper tones making the audio sound muddy. The aesthetics look good but I feel that they would not last long outside in the real world. All style and no substance.

firstly The Tan colour in my opinion look Horrendous and would not be my choice especially to be seen wearing outside.🙈
I’m a B&W Fan owning a Lot of their Hifi Speakers and on the headphone front I own a lot of High End Wired headphones as well as the Original B&W P7 wireless,PX Wireless and PX7.
Out of the 3 and ironically the Original P7 Are still the Best Sounding and yes can be used Wired without use of the battery (great if the battery Dies when outside) The original PX are Just Muddy Sounding with all music so I pulled the trigger when the PX7 was released and my hopes were as a new model at the time they would sound much better than the previous PX🤔 in a Nutshell yes they are but so do the original P7🤔
I nearly Bought the PX7 S2 but heard about the release of the PX8 so thought I would wait.

Never ever will I use a wirel3ss headphone... there just isn't any conceivable reason to radiate my head for the illusion of convenience. Studio wired headphones will always exist and a portable high end DAB or music player will always have a 3.5 headphone jack.
So you’re telling me you’re willing to walk around and carry that kind of rig everywhere you go in addition to your phone and wallet and keys? That’s a lot of effort. I think most people would prefer the convenience
@@jthomp72 lot of effort ? Let me guess you're about to get a chip in your arm to make life "more convenient "... yes. People used to have to walk, harvest, hunt, dress up with heavy clothes etc. I take the healthy technological advantage and refuse the toxic one. Radiation exposure is no evolution, just stupidity.
Ps. The rig in question meaning headphones with a wire, you do realise is lighter than a wireless headphone with included battery ? Right ? And a DAB, well consider it a replacement for the always present powerbank 🤣
