- Join us on Rascaltown's first ever journey outside of the studio!
A week ago we went to Salute 2024, the BIGGEST single day Wargaming event in Europe, not to hang out or play Warhammer and have fun, but to set up a stall and finally bring Rogue Hobbies and Rascaltown to the people for the very first time!
Since its creation 8 months ago my miniature range Rascaltown has felt like a fever dream, and setting up a stall and figuring out how to make our little home business work in real life was a huge challenge!
But maybe the biggest surprise of all was seeing for myself just how popular Rascaltown seems to be...
CHAPTERS!

Young lady I am one of those grumpy old historical wargamers and good content enthuisisam combined with great work and talent will always win out you should be so proud of what you are achieving and I own one of your goblins must make me a kid then
With an attitude like that it must be fun to see the growing enthusiasm and surge of wargaming of all genres.
A bit too thirsty mate..
@@elvispearce5422 At my age mate thirsty involves a good bourbon you sad little man
@@roguetrooper5401 thats not a little man, thats a poor internet child with no money, brain, or future.
Honestly I can't think of anything to get us grumpy old sods more engaged than seeing something original and fun made by youngsters whose energy and optimism are infectious.
Oh my days! Mortimer is in the video! That's my goblin!!!
I LOVE MORTIMER!!
Mortimer looks so cute! Great job!
In my experience, there are two kinds of historical wargamers, the "rivet counters", who will object to you fielding a Napoleonic force with brass buttons on their jackets when in the particular battle you're playing they were known to have silver buttons, and there's the people who make fun of those people.
Yep. I fell into a rivet counter Horus Heresy group once, and omg they where an anti fun bunch of dudes. I ran
@@martinjrgensen8234 thankfully there's no rivet counting going on in our local Battletech community. It's pretty hard to rivet count in that setting, anyway. As long as you stick to the right tech level for the era, people are fine (like no Clan mechs or weapons if you're playing before the invasion, for example).
Ahhhh, the hard core Ancients Era Tabletop Gamer. The sort of person who will engage in a 40 minute argument over the correct shade of read for the cloaks on their Republican Romans, before setting them up to fight the Aztecs.
Bless their little 40x30mm MDF bases :D
I would go into more detail but I need to go off and try and finish my Sumerians so I can take on those Fedal Scots...
Can I say I TOLD YOU SOOOO yet? Super chuffed it all went superbly! The stand was *chef's kiss*

Gonna need a “historical” goblin with “Born to Sill(y)” on its helmet for next year’s Salute
With another goblin behind him smashing Coconut halves together please
Genius, although I also like the idea of one with a napoleonic bent and a pen in it’s hand called Sharpie
Three goblins standing on each other’s shoulders, crammed into a napoleonic uniform.
The idea that you have to be super professional at Salute is very funny. How many of these historical companies started as basically 2 guys in a shed with a mail order catalogue in the 80s :D
As someone who used to be part of South London warlords (until a city move), who run salute, I also find the idea of having to be professional very funny.
The whole thing is run by a group of us nerds, who range across historical, Warhammer and much more. We didn't really know what we're doing and just did our best to put on a show.
So, if the people running it aren't professional, we certainly weren't expecting others to be!
Actually I was one bloke in a shed in the (late)80s. 😅.
Before his bed time, my 3 year old paints his wood toy cars while I paint the first Rascal Town mini. He loves the mini and has promised to buy the rest for my birthday.
You should be proud of what you’re accomplishing here.
as a added bonus, if you pay for the gift, then if it has interest, then could spawn a whole new investment for your kid. all for a weekly cuppa you go without. maybe you go good. maybe not. regardless? act surprised when your kid does this for you and be genuinely interested. for all you know this one thing is what you bond on.
I was there, you signed my Goblin!
I've been to a lot of Salutes and while there is always a strong historical presence, there's also always been a strong sci-fi and fantasy element. So Rogue Hobbies was in no way out of place.
Salute isn't very Warhammer, but its a great showcase for alternative wargames of all types.
Speaking of which, any chance of a Rascal Town game? Nothing really violent, but maybe something like the Troll games you have on the shelf behind you? Maybe some kind of capture the frog thing? I love the goblins, but I'd love them even more if there was a way to game with them.
Really glad to hear the day went well for you.
CAPTURE THE FROG
YES
"Princess Diana Revenge Dress" was not the pop culture reference I was expecting to hear in this video.
The combo of that and the Malo Mart song was both unexpected and extremely on brand
In my opinion Rascaltown is popular because it is sooo genuinely heartfelt. There is colourfulness, joy, passion, character & a little quirk'n'smirk and that is all compacted into unique fun looking Goblins 💚
"Accidentally" All part of the plan! :P
THE PLAN WAS TO MAKE ONE GOBLIN XD
@@roguehobbies Luck is the residue of design :P
@@roguehobbies Boromir: "One does not simply make one goblin."
@roguehobbies "one goblin" we all know there never is just one goblin, there's a horde of the things! 😅
My heart is full.

oh wow
He did? Omg but OUCH is all i can say 😢 @JC.Denton.
Louise you were perfect on the panel, I wouldn't have been able to do it if you weren't there!
Oh stop u were the winner for sure 🥹 (if I was the judge)
Just here for the "whooshes" and "bye buh-byes"😊
My wife agrees with me that Louise is utterly adorable and infectiously gleeful about this hobby.
I too have convinced my wife I don't have a crush i have a hobby
Yep, she's pretty wonderful and I think she does a great job of getting others excited about things outside the GW sphere! She's the only miniature TH-camr I can listen to and watch their entire videos besides Goober Town and EoB.
Louise! I'm so proud of you! I had a wee little cry watching this, I will not lie haha.
Aw thank u 🥹❤️
So glad Rascaltown has taken off for you, and you have actually seen how much people enjoy it.
From a grumpy old guy who likes what you do! 😉😁😇
Hi Rogue. I'm old, cranky and a historical gamer. I cannot see me ever buying a goblin. Just not my thing.
However, if you attended a show I was at, i would gleefully shake your hand and thank you for your enthusiasm and imagination and the colour you bring ... and probably buy a goblin - just for the experience of painting it you understand.
Keep on being you; believe in yourself. I may not participate in your success, but I shall definitely be on the sidelines cheering you on.
Aw thank you!
It’s funny seeing this video as a suggested one from my algorithm and being primarily a Square-Based subscriber! Seeing Rob as the goblin manufacturing goblin was a real surprise and a good laugh. I appreciate you crediting everyone who works with you and promoting them just as much as your own effort. Cheers
As someone who works in design and print, I have to say your branding is absolutely on point. It goes without saying that the sculptures and illustrations are great, but the overall attention to detail is next level. The stall at Salute looked AMAZING.
17:07 The rather excited pair of pirates is me and my partner Emile! Have to say Louise is one of the most humble and friendly people ive had the pleasure of meeting and I cant wait to see what you have planned for rascal town next! :)
Honestly, I'm in a bit of a rut as far as painting goes, which would typically mean I'm not watching any modeling content, but i can't help but click every one of your videos when they pop into my feed. Your joy and passion for what you do are utterly infectious and it always brightens my day to see your content, and seeing your professional ventures succeed is awesome. Congrats on everything you've accomplished and can't wait to see where this adventure takes you!
You deserve it! Every time I watch your videos, you're so happy and bubbly, and it's a great joy to watch. You bring a unique style to your painting, and it's bright and colorful, and your miniature range reflects upon you as an individual. I hope you have great success and that Rascal town is here to stay.
I cant wait to the mythical realm of RogueGobbos line sprouts out, kinda like trolls in the pantry but invasion force style. Facing off against the Roblike Bearded Dorf pantry defenders… maybe sound track with the boxed set … someday!
It was so wonderful to be there and support you (from the discord!). The great British make off was amazing, don't let any old men tell you different lol.
You have nothing to live up to Louise, just be your wonderful bubbly self and keep making the things that bring you joy, if you love it others will too. Rascal town is incredible because of all the passion you have put into it. It is unique to you and that makes it unique and awesome in its own right. Don't be GW, just keep being a Rogue.
Probably a longshot but, I think a sprue to build squads of goblins in your style would be great. Something along the scale of warhammer goblins with assorted pointy things and funny outfits. Love this channel!
Would love a 28mm warband of these guys.
Congratulations Louise. It was really great seeing all the different fishing goblins people had done for the painting competition. Next year you might need your own category!
Imagine … Goblins vs Kobold
Oh, how lovely to see rob and you working together! Hes made me so motivated to get back in the old world and you have been a general motivator for me in this hobby. Both of you bring so much positive attitude and love for the hobby its infectious. I really love what you do and it gets me that much more motivated! Thanks a lot for all that you do! 👍❤️
That's just grand! I am so happy this is working out so well, and am looking forward to the next Rascaltown goblin.
Me too! Thank U!
I weirdly want to see what the Rascal Town Goblin Princess, that would look so cool.
Goblin self portrait?!?!?
As I was listening, I started writing a comment in my head that was full of advice and wisdom. But as I went to type it, I'm like "wait a minute. This person a) clearly knows where their towel is at, and b) DOESN'T KNOW YOU." So instead, my comment is: wow, para-social effects are real and so, so sneaky.
Also: never been to Salute but I've been to GenCon many times, and your booth definitely would have made me stop if I'd walked past it. I'm glad your stock lasted the day (I remember when FFG had to overnight another container load of product to GenCon when they sold out of the new hotness on Friday - and GenCon is Thursday to Sunday) and I'm sure that as long as you're willing to keep making and selling these figures, people will keep buying them.
Also also: that was EPIC saltiness about the grumpy old man. As a grumpy old man myself, that was the perfect reaction.
Eeeeeee my heart sings with glee that Rascal Town is as beloved as we all knew it would be! Keep doing what you're doing.
You definitely need to make an old grumpy goblin that's scowling with disapproval at all the other goblins. Maybe even holding a sign saying "back in my day..."
Congrats on your first trade show and your success. It's fun seeing your infectious joy over your creation. And neat seeing your rascals in the painting competition.
Just ordered a couple of Gobbos. I hope they are ok crossing the pond. I can't wait to see them.
After watching JUGGZ this afternoon, this is a great follow up.
Same
It was awesome to meet you! Can’t wait for everybody else to see Art in miniature!
Congratulations young lady . You are a credit to the hobby and your TH-cam channel is fabulous . :)
Thank you so much!
I thought wearing the rainbow tie die t-shirt at Salute would make me easier for my friend to spot in the croud, but I saw several other people with them too. And had that nice nod you get of shared identity. But sadly the Rogue Hobbies stall was swamped so didn't get to say hi.
We love the tie dye shirt, I may enforce it as our staff uniform soon 🤣
I'm happy for you my dear. Us grumpy old wargamers still remember how we got started with the little guys as well. Now that my girth is catching up with my age, I'm gonna need a XXXL Rogue Hobbies shirt to go with my new Knight model. Looking forward to your next creation. Cheers.
My kids are soon getting old enough to start painting for real. And your minis are just the perfect start up!
We all love you very much Sugs. You're such a beakon of light and hope in the grim dark hobby space!
Wow.. I hope this just keeps growing and growing. Love your videos and your creativity.
I truly enjoy your videos :)
You being a different approach to the miniature world and it is amazing! When I first discovered your channel I showed my wife the Rascal Town goblins and she has been asking for one ever since. I will be surprising her with one soon. The OG fishing goblin!
You have a new fan for sure! 😊
Amazing! Great work all around! 😃👍
Absolutely deserved success. The genuine enthusiasm and joy you bring to the hobby is so appreciated.
I can't speak for others, only myself. This is a miniature line created by someone out of love and fun and joy - and that is what I am here for.
Saw you at the event but never brave enough to say hello, you looked surrounded and very busy. Glad you had a great show and fantastic to hear the minis have gone down so well.
Well hello now 👋
@@roguehobbies haha yes Hello, thanks :D
I'm so here for all your success!! I can't wait to see where it goes.
I'm always happy to see others succeed. GREAT WORK!!!
I'm with many comments - try not to be too scared, you guys did really well. First time trading at Salute is scary for everyone but you get the hang of it. Artwork on the stall was awesome. Well done. Hope I get to see it one day.
It's amazing to see how fast this is growing for you. The miniatures are beautiful and I cannot wait to see more of these little guys
What a great memory and a testament to your success! We all totally ❤ you and wish nothing but more success and happiness in the future! I’m “across the pond” and hope to see your creations in my LGS one of these days.
Wow. I just adore you and your team. That new goblin makes me hope my little one will find joy in painting minis. She loves painting, drawling and over all art. We shall see.
I have the best team 🥹
Fun to see Exit 23. I've bought a few paints from there to ship to the states and they've always been super fast and nice.
They're the best
Hi Louise, I watched your video with great interest. I guess at 56 I might fall into the category of older men who go to Salute. I’d never really thought of the event like that before. You made me feel sad that I missed it this year due to work commitments. It was exciting to see how well received your new venture was. I guess I have a broad interest in miniatures from Games Workshop ( I also have shares!) to Judge Dredd and also the historical stuff. So i think you would definitely fit in well at Salute. Given your talents and connections you and your venture are going to go from strength to strength! I’ll definitely be placing an order! If there is anyway of getting involved with your business I would also be very interested. I have work contacts in lots of countries which might help. You are doing great. It’s like watching the birth of Games Workshop all over again!
Congratulations on everything. You have earned it - you're a lovely person and the Rascaltown gobbos are a much needed bit of fun.
Just came here to say I love your work, your paint style, and the content you're making. Can't wait for your proacryl paint set. Please keep up the excellent work. We're watching, and don't let negative voices hold you back.... and yeah, I'm a greying wargamer who's pushed tabletop bits around for decades.
This video inspired me a lot. Thank you!
I'm happy for the success you guys had at Salute! Keep it up! 😃
Congradulations. this is an awesome video and story. A small victory and a major step to your future successes.
I'm so happy you had such a great time and your pirate costume was fantastic!
I am really happy for you guys! Hugs from Brazil for you and the team!
Outstanding work, bless you all 😊
congrats on all of the success!! well deserved, thank you for the fun content and goblins
Your success is so well deserved and it is heart warming to see it every time!!!
It is easy for me to congratulate your success now seeing your goblins being so beloved by many. Though looking back at its inception and production, its been very professional the whole time, whether me or others are willing to admit it or not. What is going through my mind now is the willingness to try, you did this knowing it may be inconsequential. But you did it anyway. And when support from others came you reached out. If only more of us did the same despite the outcome.
Great to see a small start up doing so well, your little Goblins are so cute I am not surprised they sell so well. Well done Rogue Hobbies
this is the first time hearing about your channel and company and this is truely amazing and your creations are beautiful and well made!
You definitely deserve the success. It’s been so great to follow your journey 😊
Thank you so much!!
god damn it Louise! you are a beacon for hobbyists and a shining light for bringing in people not yet familiar with the hobby! You are amazing. hope you can wake up tomorrow and really feel that!
Great to hear that you did so well! I hope the success keeps goming!
You are a joy, so much fun and energy. If only I had the confidence to paint one of your beautiful goblins. Keep up the great work 🎉
Your enthusiasm end energy are so infectious!
Amazing, seems like your business is really taking off! Take care that you don’t burn-out after all this excitement and success!!
Congratulations Louise on all your accomplishments! You have earned your successes by following your dream and putting in all the time, effort and creativity needed to make it happen. If you be true to yourself you will never go wrong. I can't wait to see what the future holds in store! :)
Congratulations! Well earned. You are amazing and deserve the recognition you are getting.
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️
Excellent video. Very clear that you have grown an awesome community around your talent. Had the pleasure of meeting you at TSN with Rob a few times and two more genuine and honest people you could not ask for.
I started A miniature company too, and it's doing great! Cute whimsical minis are the future!
Congratulations on the massive success, and best wishes for the future!
I’ve been setting up at conventions for almost 10 years now, so I know how exhilarating AND exhausting it can be.
You all should bring Rascal Town to Adepticon next year (though I know that would be a long trip)!
Your whimsy and silliness is super adorable which all makes you very likeable. You are just charming. Those Goblins from Rascal Town match your energy and are amazing. That booth is awesome.
Congrats!!! I love the creativity and happiness you get from these little guys. You seem like a genuinely good person and that you deserve this company! Keep at it!
Gotta feel pretty good to see that your mini was chosen by several people to make competition/show pieces.
Wish I could have been there! I ordered some dice to help support the channel and Tom was super helpful to me! You guys are the best!!!
Speaking as an old gamer so glad you have had the success you have, the hobby is richer for including more than us old guys.
I need to paint a bit more of my project list this year but I can see your goblins in my future.
You’re amazing and your Rascal Town taking off so massively is a great reflection of that! 🍄💚
Also that revenge dress reference is serving! 😂🤘🏻🔥
Congratulations on your growth! Keep at it!
Congrats! Glad to see everything is working out well, and omg i'm so excited to get my hands on some of these miniatures!
Glorious. Chaotic. Energy. 🤘
Louise, you smile and enthusiasm are so heartwarming. Thanks for making me smile. And love your Rascaltown goblins. ❤😊
This is just the best Louise, love seeing you and your goblins thrive!
Hi Louise, Congrats on all your accomplishments! It's been really inspiring watching your journey as you strike out in the indie scene. I really feel it when you're transparent about your 'imposter syndrome'. I'm in a similar situation myself. It's encouraging to know those silly voices in your head don't have to hold you back. Good on you and keep going! I'm learning so much from you not just on a hobby level! All the best with what's ahead!! I'm sure it'll be a beautiful thing.
You and your videos always make me smile (even when I'm not in the mood to do so!) thank you!! 🤙🤓
My pleasure 😊
Love the warp miniatures shoutout! Arcworlde is great!
Great video, you smashed it Louise, great stand and awesome minis!
congratulations on all of your success! doing something new and independent is incredibly frightening at moments. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Congratz! You and the Rogue team deserve this and more, well done!
Thank you buddy!
Love to see genuine people get genuine success. And peachy Easter eggs are juicy!
It's a truly amazing thing for someone so genuine, to reach new heights while being yourself and just having fun!
Absolutely love each of the Goblins you've done so far. Currently painting the Knight Goblin for Cult of Paints MPO in Bristol next month! Keep up the incredible work!
I cannot wait to buy some cute little goblins to paint
It’s very moving to see how much you can be so amazed about your own accomplishments being recognized. Bravo 👏
