    Great video mark, I would happily buy one from yourself to plant in my own garden :) can’t wait to see the results!

      Thanks so much Ben. You are on the list (2nd) would you be interested in pink china or Esculenta or both? Thanks again. Mark

      The Pink China would be a great addition to my garden mark so I would edge towards that one! Good luck with it all and can’t wait to see the results :)

    I’m new to elephant ears just this summer. I was given 2 baby black EEs (not sure what they are, but looks like pictures of Illustris) last spring. They’ve grown in pots to almost 6 feet tall, AND they are very prolific with the runners. Not knowing anything about them, I’ve been cutting the runners and simply sticking them down in other pots, several together (I’ve run out of pots) and keeping the soil wet. Every one of them has produced more plants. I’m up to 40 (FORTY!!!) babies between the 2 plants, and there’s probably another dozen runners I’ve just ignored as they spill over the pots. We have a few weeks left in the season, and now I’m trying to decide what to do with them all. It’s been a fun experiment this year. My husband says I’m obsessed. I just know I will miss seeing them when frost gets here. Oh, and one of the original 2 has just produced a bloom.

      That's incredible! Forty babies from 2 plants. Wow!! You could set up a nursery😊

    I have just re-ignited my passion for tropical plants. I just recently bought a number of plants, among them a black magic colocasia, and also a pink China. The black magic is sprouting new leaves as we speak, which I’m very surprised about (as indoor plants).
    I’d certainly be interested in taking an esculenta off your hands.
    Thanks for the great videos, keep up the good work 🙏

      Hi there. Thanks for warching. I will put a sticker on the Esculenta. The whole range of plants is quite amazing. I'm going to try black magic next year. I haven't got one. Mark

    Hello Mark. Thanks for the video. I would definitely be interested in some Colocasia from you at some point. I have only just begun tropical style gardening and have some Pink China. I hope to overwinter them and look forward to your video.

    Excellent video and interesting idea. I used a knife to divide a corm last year into 3 plants for this year. Each has performed really well and thrown up pups of their own. If you use your method and divide the corms then you could easily reach 15+ plants next year

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Darren. How did you know where exactly to cut the korms? Was it reasonably obvious?

      @@MarksHouseandGardenUK. I waited until I dug them up to over winter. I know the pink china's can be left but I didn't want to risk it last year as it was my first year tropical gardening. Basically I cut directly between the mother and the pups (I had two decent pups last year) with a serrated knife, much in the same way as I would cut a pup off a musa basjoo. So this way you could have all the propagated runners as in your video demonstration and also 2/3 decent divisions per plant using the cutting method. 🙂

      @@darrendavies4784 thanks again. I look forward to trying this later in the season. Can i pick your brains further? How did you get the newly divided corms through the winter?

    • @darrendavies4784

      @@MarksHouseandGardenUK absolutely 😁. I treated them the same as esculenta or cannas in so much that I dry stored them. I kept one plant going as a house plant as insurance as dry storing was new to me. I removed all soil, washed them thoroughly and then dried them in the garage for 2 weeks, similar to what I did with ensetes. Then started two off from corms in a warm conservatory in a basic plastic propagator (not heated). They were slow starting this year but other channels such as tropical plant addict mentioned the same, but by the end of July they were in full growth and all three flowered. 😀

    Wow, very cool to see the flower on your pink china Mark! I planted two small plug plants in one of my borders this year and they have done really well. I haven't seen any runners from either of mine yet, but they have got a couple of pups growing next to the main plants.
