Shawn reviews the Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis, in this book Lewis takes a creative perspective to show why people reject Jesus Christ. The book covers citizens of hell who take a bus ride to heaven and why they want to return to hell after being in heaven.
I remember as a child listening to the audio book of this. CS always paints a vivid picture with his words. Another great review!
Thanks!
I guess Lewis forgot to include the contingent of people who don't believe in god because they have no evidence for his existence.
Sounds very scary... I think I'm on my way to hell. I'm like the people who prefer hell. Please pray for me.
The great musical conductor, Robert Shaw, said that God doesn't mean for us to check our brains at the vestibule of the church. If anyone invites us to keep our minds engaged while contemplating spiritual things, it's C.S. Lewis.
Actually picked up a copy at a used bookstore last week. Looking forward to diving in
Awesome timing
Ive just finished reading it. It was quite the ride. Looking forward to reading it again one day.
what a great review. you've got me enthralled to read this book. I have been going through some of C S Lewis's book, but had never bothered with this one. I will definitely read this after watching your review. thanks heaps.
The remarkable thing about the book, is the people in the bus from hell, resemble the people today on earth. CS Lewis definitely hit the nail on the head.
He did. I believe its his best work.
I started reading this in front of my husband and he saw the title and was all "are you planning something i need to know about" lol lol.
I struggle a bit sometimes with Lewis' writing style but there is always so much wisdom and so much to think about in his books.
I was surprised and amazed by this one, and you make me want to reread it.
