- King Charles has handed over a prestigious role with the Army Air Corps to his son Prince William.
It is unusual for the King and the Prince of Wales to both take part in an engagement - and this has been a symbolic handing over of the baton.
The King had become colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps 32 years ago - and now he has been succeeded by his eldest son, Prince William.
With his own cancer treatment still continuing, the King spoke to a veteran at the event in Hampshire who had undergone chemotherapy for testicular cancer - and they appeared to discuss losing the sense of taste.

Why would people have expected it to go to Harry? He's no longer a working member of the Royal family.
That's right,It doesn't matter, the position goes to the Prince of Wales,Once Charles became King the role needs filling,so goes to the next Prince of Wales which is William,nothing to do with Harry at all,even if he was still a working royal.

Most of the royal family don’t do much work, whether officially termed working or non working royals. Regardless, there is something a bit off about William being made Colonel in Chief just because he is Prince of Wales. Actual merit is not taken into account and it’s pretty jarring in 2024. Charles seems to give out so many honours, titles and medals to his own family it all looks rather ridiculous

According to just about every available source, he was. He received training as an Apache helicopter pilot and deployed to Afghanistan in that role. Maybe you should check before posting something.

He passed his education on royal air force too (beside passed from sandhurst military academy) n have helicopter pilot licence, he also served SAR air service before, from FORMER PRINCE OF WALES to CURRENT PRINCE OF WALES. If he sent to Afganisthan, I think he would do but he can't do it simply cause he is the heir of the throne.
