    I thought all darts coaching was nonsensical until I watched this guy. I improved more after watching 30 minutes of this guys videos than 1 month of continual practice. Watch this guy he is brilliant.

    Short and sweet and straight to the point, lol. Great information! I throw a closed grip (I have finally learned to stop fighting it), and I'm not always conscious on my handprint. I'm definitely working on my consistency and being more conscious of this factor will help me. Thank you!

    Really interesting video mate. I have a closed grip but generally finish with a similar hand print to you, back of the hand facing toward the board, fingers down. Watching this, it makes sense as to why I drift high in the five and low in the one as my hand rotates and depending on timing is early or late is that variation. Rather than just being high or low in the 20.

  • @AnthonyHitmanDarts
    @AnthonyHitmanDarts หลายเดือนก่อน +2

  • @DJJOOLZDE

    When i notice my throws drifting off towards the 1's, it's usually because i tilt my head towards the right when setting up for a throw. It's a totally natural position for me, so it's really hard to force myself to do something that feels unnatural. It's only a slight adjustment of the neck/head towards the left, but then they glide straight towards the 20's. Finding a stance and throw that you can repeat is awesome, except when you end up repeating something that you should be fixing instead :D

    I have a closed grip and I use kind of a pistol sign motion in the follow through. So basically instead of hand Flexion I'm using ulnar Flexion (pinky finger moving down towards the ulnar bone and thumb pointing up).

    I am confused then Dan, so what should your handprint look like on a closed grip? Guessing it is drop the closed grip through on follow through and not open it up? I would like to know :)

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It should have a slight angle on it. Look at Taylor's handprint notice the palm is still slightly at an angle.
      A good trick is to practice without a dart in slow-mo. Look at the shape of the hand after the drawback and go though slowly keeping the same shape. :)

    That's my biggest problem, Dan, it goes to one and then it goes to 5, I know 5 is when I feel my wrist/palm is opening opening.
    Total frustration, but my worst habit is , I hit my chin if I'm throwing from the front, and I hit my Ear, Cheeck or glasses when I throw from the side, my hand always de-faults from out to in in the follow through, Just like my Golf.

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Work on shortening the draw. Just draw from the wrist and find a little paste at the end of the draw, then work on this. It will be easier. :)

      @@Straightdarts Thanks, mate, i'm gonna work on that, only been doing darts for 4-5 months, to help get my son out of his room, We both love darts now, were competitive, he is now piping me due to my 3 bad habits, had 180x 13, Triple everything including Red Bulls.. but still have those 3 things to work on, Wrist turning open, hit my head on the way through and that dreaded elbow drop/late release. this last one keeps me stuck between lobbing and thrusting .

      That explains it. My handprint is always at an angle way away from the 20, and if I try and force the finish position my darts go anywhere. I am a closed grip player!! Is there anything inherently wrong with that Daniel. Also, I have found that the pullback of my throw has been getting too long and I am throwing straighter if I deliberately shorten if and then make a more purposeful acceleration on the forward throw.

  • @FatOssssss
    @FatOssssss หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I experience this quite a bit and you just confirmed what I noticed while throwing (the rotation). What would be the solution to correct that? A different hand print or a more opened grip? I tried to use a more opened grip and it pulls on my muscles and it feels unnatural.

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Try to keep it open as it's easier to flick straight, but not at the cost of a comfortable grip. If the grip change is difficult, just learn to keep the shame angle and shape on the thrown. :)

    any tips for someone that is going through a huge slump? my average dropped like 15-20 points. I've had these slumps before for like 1-3 days, possibly almost a week. But it's been going on for like 1.5 month now. It's not only the score, i can just feel my throw is off, doing something different then i was before. But i'm unable to pinpoint it. My friends tell me to put the darts away for a week, but i'm having difficulties with that, since i want to train and find the error. But it's only making me lose fun in the game right now

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd have to see the throw, it sounds like you've lost your timing, though. Try decelerating the draw-back in to a pause and just flick the wrist and let it go, stop using your arm for a while. If you drop low, flick more, but don't push the arm.

Still lacking a bit of confidence after playing like shit for 1.5 months, but i can feel my throw becoming more effortless again. While it felt like working for over a month. Thanks

      Open is generally easier to flick straight with. :) but it's more important to be comfortable with the girp. If you can't get comfortable with it open, just learn to keep the angle right. :)

    • @Straightdarts

      Stop rotating the elbow and focus on keeping the same shape of the hand all the way through. Watch players with a closed grip like Phil Taylor, notice the palm of his hand I'd at a slight angle, facing towards his left :)
      It's also helpful to practice in slow-mo without a dart in your hand, see what shape the hand makes when you don't rotate.

    My problem with syncing my throw is not in the 5 or in the 1, but too high or too low

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it's going high, your not using the wrist early and quick enough. This could be made worst if your pushing from the arm as your foram will travel to fast for your wrist to work efficiently.
      Keep the elbow still, draw from the wrist and just flick, keep the arm relaxed and don't push with it.
      Then if I goes low, just flick it more.

      You need a match day routine and three different mindsets.
      Warm up check everything one at at time and get comfortable. Don't want about what you hit.
      Practice, pic three things at most think about and try to hit somthing. Play some games.
      When they start going your ready to play, Game on time.
      Just keep the same though process and Practice with the reassurance the throw works. Don't try hard. Just aim and the threble but accept the night numbers. Keep them straight.
