I used to go to a hidden restaurant inside of a Latino supermarket in when I lived in Louisiana and I can tell you that this was the best Hispanic food I’ve ever had. Whole fish fried to cooked to order (took a while but it was worth it). The lengua, carnitas, asada were great and cooked to order as well. I can even say the beans since they weren’t refried. The tortillas were freshly made as well.
Was the supermarket in Metairi, LA? I used to gp there to pick up some food to go. Authentic for sure.

Burritos are not really a Mexican thing. They are more Tex-Mex. Try other authentic Mexican dishes like mole, carne en su jugo, bistec a la mexicana, tampiqueña, tortas ahogada, sopes, huaraches, there’s so much more than burritos and tacos. Love your videos btw! Much love.
Mexicans made burritos & tacos, so they are Mexican. But I do like sopes and mole, way more than burritos/tacos.

I went to this random Mexican spot and I asked for carne asada and the waiter asked "steak or chicken" I should've left immediately
Not only is the place you went for lunch a little over a mile from where I live (though I’ve never eaten there and now I think I should), but I can literally see Pancho And Lefty‘s from the deck of my condo and could walk from my front door to the restaurant in less than five minutes. They have a pretty decent crunch wrap, by the way.

You need to come to Chattanooga for a few days, and try the best rated restaurants as well as do a local recommendation! It's fire here, it's a very progressive city in TN only 2 hours away and is a culinary, beer, tech, music and arts style city.

Oscars is an authentic SoCal Mexican restaurant. Coming from someone that lived in San Diego for 9 years, and lives in Nashville. Their California burrito is spot on authentic. There's several locations, including one right in downtown, and their prices are super reasonable, especially for downtown Nashville.
I miss Oscar’s so much from when I lived right outside of Nashville. There was one across the street from where I lived and I was there weekly
Had to make a comment. I worked at Chipotle. Everything came in fresh, the vegetables came in fresh and had to be hand cut, the tortillas came in fresh and had to be pressed, even the meat came in fresh and whole then had to be grilled and sliced etc etc

I live in GA, and while theres a texmex american style mexican joint in every town, we also have a huge latino immigrant population in northwestern GA so you can pretty easily find an authentic 'Noone speaks English' Mexican market and food joints in towns too.

In Arizona they use French fries for potato because a lot of places do carna asada fries or super fries or Cali fries; asada, sour cream guacamole and pico over fries...save them time on two styles of potato prep.
