No matter what you think of modern Blizzard and the current state of the World of Warcraft, we should all be able to agree that the music is and remains godtier.
I don’t feel like it’s godtier anymore. Music is what made me play the game and I feel they completely drifted away with it. I’m really not feeling it. Legion had great music,BFA failed in my eyes. I know music is something we all experience differently ,but I feel like music after Legion is all over the place. Not atmospheric,sometimes very difficult to listen to prolonged periods of time. Not polished enough. Simply not that glorious quality. This theme,for example,needs more work. It has some amazing parts,but some need change,to be more striking/powerful, but not overwhelming in a wrong way. I know what I feel is missing. It’s just difficult to describe.

I think the somber tone of this piece fits Bolvar’s character quite well. He didn’t put on the Helm of Domination for power or to be a “badass” - his charge as the Lich King was to sacrifice himself and be forgotten.
Just in case anyone is curious: the vocalist on this track is classical-baroque soprano Grace Davidson! She also sang - fun fact - Feast of Starlight from the Hobbit! I think she also did the Zin Azshari music too! While a good deal of you might not like classical music, it's actually what she specialises in and I'd highly suggest you listen to her early music recordings! She's got a stunning voice.
I can definitely see myself being a far superior hero in terms of how interesting I am, but I can’t really see Anduin being a Gary Stu. He isn’t flawless, just driven by righteousness.

He is forcing his ideology of peace on the alliance that albeit a noble one, after what the horde did under sylvanas, wont come as easily. His thirst for righteousness and inexperience drove a wedge in the alliance. Which again isnt his fault. When u want to win a greater war, vs a battle, you have to play strategically which tyrande didnt take kindly to. On a somewhat related note, I hope tyrandes a jainaesque character instead of a sylvanas honestly. She is hurting yes, but itll be uncharacteristical of her to go completely ballistic. Also malfy didnt get the spot light as much as I'd hoped. Hopefully they have a not so 'Tyrande, save me role' for him in the future. As seen the darkshore teaser and the books etc. The doods supposed to be a powerhouse.

If you're a pragmatic, you would see Anduin is naive, wishy washy, and too defensively reactive. The Horde has always been proactive, and Tyrande and Greymane are wisely following suite. Anduin needs to adapt and become more like his father.
Even in death, he serves. Even in utter darkness, he is unbroken. With his fire, darkness is kept at bay. In his torment, we find safety. May we never forget his name Bolvar Fordragon, hero of Azeroth. (I suck at poem btw, it's not my thing)
Bolvard the man who charged head first along side saurfang jr to face the lich king and end his reign. A holy paladin blessed by the light who wanted nothing more then to end all the torment and sufferings of the ones he's failed to protect and put them to rest. Who was betrayed by the forsaken and then purged by the flames of the dragons. Who was tormented endlessly til we came to save him a top ice crown and in the end he still saw it his duty to save us and wore the helm of damnation. For no one else but him could do it, this was his last act of servitude towards those he cherished. In the end he would be forgotten and die the way he lived. Living for the sake of protecting others no matter the cost.
Part of why i love this piece so much is just because of how much feeling there is in it. It sounds so heavy, and yet so hopeful at the same time. It fits bolvar so well. Resigned to be the forgotten king of the scourge, but now given a chance to flourish. Especially with the lone choir a little over halfway through the track, which has always been utilized in media to show ascension to the heavens after a lifegiving act of selflessness.
Many games these days are "meh" or not what they "used to be" but music in most of them is amazing. Music is literally one of the best things in our world. It will never cease to amaze me how something so "simple" can give so much joy.

I love this turn of the century, Lord of the Rings style, high fantasy musical art. The slow, somber pacing and beautiful strings bring a certain darkness and dread that blends perfectly with the hopeful yet melancholy voices of the choir. So much history and tragedy in it, but still a light for a better future shines through. As I stated before, the LotR pulled this off amazingly as well especially in reference to the elves. The original Arthas song is still one of the best ever made in this style.
this is....amazing. It fits the theme of the Lich Kings frozen throne, it fits the theme of death, despair, and decay. It represents the severity of the situation Bolvar is in, and it overall perfectly represents how amazing music can be, in any place.
It has the solemn quality of a requiem mass, the sad quality of a man who gave himself to save his world and feels he failed. Its just...beyond beautiful.

Dreaming big here. A perfect ending for Sylvanas after all is done and she has to pay for her crimes. Bolvar(or whoever decides) sends her where Arthas was placed and tormented for his deeds just for Sylvanas to be Tormented by Arthas. The one person that really broke her in life and possibly after death.
People forget that the Arthas in the Shadowlands is no longer the Lich King. He’s basically like his old self, except like a scared little boy. Read the edge of night story

I remember when we beat Lich King with my guild in 2010. After the joy, loot sharing, commemorative screenshot and all that, we talked on the vocal chat. And the GM said. "We've peaked. WoW can't do better than this now. It won't ever be as good as it was this time around. But mark my words, the next time we're gonna be as close to perfection as this time around will be Wrath of King Bolvar." 10 years later. Not quite Wrath of King Bolvar but as close as we'll get. I hope he was right about the xpac quality. I am not as enthusiastic myself.

I enjoy the contrast here between Arthas heroic but grim theme and Bolvar's tragic and sorrowful theme, Bolvar's one is clearly meant to be something akin to a Dark Hero full of tragedy and sacrifice.

In Shadowlands the devs said that we would visit the forge where the Helm of Domination was created. Is it possible that a new helm is created so that Bolvar or someone else can regain control of the scourge? I've just been thinking about how the pre launch event will see the scourge running loose on Azeroth again and how that will resolve itself.

I've been thinking that will be the major objective of shadowlands, reforging the helm for bolvar to take on Sylvanas or the jailer. Imagine one of the end bosses being like the end of ICC, bolvar takes the place of Tirion helping us kill either slyvanas or the jailer.

When i listen this song 2 things comes into my minds: dark fate, frost and death.If this was in a movie i can easy imagine the lich king on the frozen throne with cold snowy blizzard there.
Maybe that's because Yogg'saron and Lich King themes are alike? Like corruption of a hero and the path to damnation and stuff? They both resorted to corruption, just in a diffirent way. Yogg'saron was all about madness because he's an old god, while Lich King was about corrupting a noble pure heart to that of a twisted hateful one. It's true that they are alike, it's false however to think they are the same.

I've been thinking that will be the major objective of shadowlands, reforging the helm for bolvar to take on Sylvanas or the jailer. Imagine one of the end bosses being like the end of ICC, bolvar takes the place of Tirion helping us kill either slyvanas or the jailer.
@@MrSkagbonez I am fairly certain she is referring to Arthas and not The Jailer. Sylvanas isn't working for the Jailer she is working with him and likely has no emotional attachment to him.
This nearly equals Invincible in beauty.. Though.. I will never be convinced to kick that work of art from my number one spot.. It's a close first spot.
How do you know how beautiful is invincible if you can't see him?

Maybe that's because Yogg'saron and Lich King themes are alike? Like corruption of a hero and the path to damnation and stuff? They both resorted to corruption, just in a diffirent way. Yogg'saron was all about madness because he's an old god, while Lich King was about corrupting a noble pure heart to that of a twisted hateful one. It's true that they are alike, it's false however to think they are the same.
