      @@clee3352 Well Sire is very cool basses, but IMHO Mexican Fender Blacktop precision bass, Schecter bass j 5 string and basses from Kuznetsovguitars have the killer sound. This budget basses sounding cool and I reeally love how they grooving.

    i bought a sire v5 4string last month and it is a sleek, sleek bass. it's light, a bit bright, and really solid for the price. to be honest though, the only places where they cheapened out are - pickguard (bad cut and edges), nut (plastic), and tuners (too easy to turn). i had it setup, changed the pickguard to transparent, nut to black tusq, and just chose to live with the tuners because I ran out of extra money haha but even with that, it's hard to complain on the V5. It sounds great and plays great, thank you Sire for that rounded fretboard edge!

      Says on the specs it’s a bone nut?

    • @soeffingwhat
      @soeffingwhat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you remove the Pickguard on the V5 ala Jaco Pastorius? Some modern Fender jazz basses have this "exposed routing" under the pickguard which I hate as I prefer to keep the pickguard off. I have 2 Sire V3s which are good but I'm looking to get out of the "active" route lol

    • @bbdph
      @bbdph 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@soeffingwhat yes there's no routing under the pickguard. i ended up putting a clear pg on mine

    I love my Sire Marcus Miller V3 4 string (bought from Andertons) but the whole point of the Marcus Miller bass to me anyway, is having the choice of active or passive. Mind you that alder 4 string is tempting....!

    You guys are awesome! I love watching you jamming together. You are amazing bass players and the thing I love about you is you don’t take yourself too seriously! You have a laugh. Last year I got the V7 Alder 5 string fretless bass. It’s really cool! Mine is antique white and has a satin finish maple neck and the fingerboard is ebony complete with line markers and the fingerboard is lacquered beautiful and shiny! I’m still struggling to get my head around all the different settings. I’m not used to an active bass or especially not a jazz bass. I’m needing it set up. There isn’t enough relief on the neck so the notes weren’t sounding on the B and E strings towards the top nut. I have raised the action slightly on those strings for now just so I can kind of record with it. I was surprised at the sheer volume intensity when switching from passive to active! 😳😝 Wow! It rocks! I’m just using it active. The only thing is it weighs an absolute ton! I’m finding it difficult because I’m now wheelchair reliant. I’m still up for the challenge. I might have to devise a harness or something. I wear my bass guitar high up. I will figure it out. There’s always a solution. But they are great sounding basses. I am using round wounds just now but I’m switching back to flatwound strings because I really quite liked the tone and feel of them. Not only that I don’t want to ruin my beautiful lacquered fingerboard! Lol 😂

    Got my V5 last Monday of your fine selves and as vintage fender player of 35 years these things are amazing , and in every way as good if not better than the reissue USA fenders. The neck is perfectly shaped more late 70s profile and the satin feel roasted maple feels very similar to my pre cbs P ancient nitro finish . And with the rolled edges the frets are hardly noticeable like a Nicely warm down bass.
    The pickups have some serious punch to as I’ve never been a fan of active basses I was reluctant to get a sire for a few years until this came out and I got to say it’s seriously special I defiantly got a good one haha. Great natural finish and perfectly balanced on a strap to boot . Ill be after 5 string soon and maybe even a fretless next year I’ll be in touch 😀
    Hey I didn’t get a chrome pickup cover either with mine have they stopped doing them ?

    Is there a gain control panel to adjust the gain. The v5 i played wasn't powerful enough with a large and loud band. But of course I didn't think to adjust the gain control in the inside preamp panel...

    • @ernieD
      @ernieD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Whos-That-Guy Even with both pickups on you get noise?
      That's usually a issue with single coil pups, whilst using one only?
      I'm about to order a V5-5 or V3-5. Leaning more to V5-5. Hope that's not a common issue with that model.
