Maybe the descriptions are being updated already but Sire should push that, as every product description I've seen on boutiques so far don't mention that at all, yet there is a push/pull switch indeed :)
Just recieved my Z7 this afternoon from Andertons. I ordered it approximately 48 hrs ago!. Delivery a dream and a certificate of quality checks included. I’ve took it out jamming tonight!.............it's fekin awesome! If you're into the Stingray sound, just buy one. 9 hours in and I'm thinking it's going to be my no1.
- by the last 8 bars, he actually smiled and played a little more of that less 😋 Those basses have a huge sound ! Well done Sire, and well precented CiCi and Lee. Beautyfull jam 🎉
Yes, I saw that on the Sire website as well. It is a split coil jazz pickup. Plus the Z7 uses alnico magnet pickups and the Z3 has a ceramic pickup, so the humbuckers are not the same between the two. Doesn't seem efficient from a manufacturing perspective, but does allow price differentiation. According to Sire, the Z7 has upgraded tuners as well.
Finally a demo of the awesome new Sire basses! I can't wait to get my hands on them. They look and sound awesome, and at that price, I'm sure they will be a massive success! Really nice take on the StingRay/Lakland formula. The H/S Music Mans were variants of the StingRay and Sterling basses, but they basically had a single StingRay/Sterling pickup coil in the neck. The Sabre basses had a humbucker in the neck, but on the later ones (EB era and the reissue from a couple of years ago) it was closer to Fender specs with pairs of smaller magnets per coil and string, like Fender pickups.
Thank you for posting clips of this bass! I preordered on months ago and just found out today it will be arriving in about 2 weeks so it is great to hear what it will sound like since there have only been a few videos posted of them.
Hell yeah, great review like always - damn, those Sire basses sounds as close as it gets to the original, absolutely phantastic!! And it's so cool to see you on this channel, Cici! Keep it up! 😎👍
If they wait a bit they can even compare it to Sterling's response to this ( I presume it is ). They released a 300 dollars passive Ray in South Korea roughly a month ago, I presume this will hit the global market in the next months.
That Outro guys ❤ I’ve got a Sire P bass and I’ve owned American and Japanese Fenders but that Sire is right up there in terms of playability, never owned a Stingray as I generally don’t like active Bass’s but 🤔
correct! and with possibility to give it more low-end than the Stingray with the Z7 model blending the humbucker with the single coil pickup! (the sound with single coil pickup only is in my opinion terrible and distorced!)
Yo! I've been waiting to see Andertons do a video on this bass for a while. I've been eyeing the natural wood one for months. Great video and sound guys
Hello, on the Sabre bass it was 2 double coils humbuckers PU. On the Stingray, some years ago they made some HH and HS Stingrays... The HS one was a combination of a classic MM double coil humbucker and the single coil version, that one was almost the same as your Z7 5 strings ;-) Great review, as always. Will be in London early september, don't have the time to come to Guildford to pay you a visit, unfortunately. Regards from Belgium guys.
He may have confused the Sabre with the Sterling, which used to be available in the HS configuration. I always preferred the Sterling's body to the Stingray.
The MM Bongo was also available in HS config for a while, up until a few years ago... my Bongo 4 is actually a purple HS. I'm sad they don't still offer the HS combo on their basses, such a good blend....
I received my Z3 from Andertons at the weekend (in white, although I'm still wondering if I should have gone all in with black sparkle!). It's still early days but it's a phenomenal amount of bass for the money. Having briefly owned a Ray4, I feel like it's a notable step up in quality for the same price. The neck is out-of-this-world good - not just for the price, full stop. I was apprehensive about the (ceramic?) pickup but it and the preamp sound very good and are not overly pokey a la Ray4, which means it can cover a fair bit of ground sonically. The pickup is even wired in parallel, meaning it's actually closer to an old Stingray than Sterling's own effort... I did slap some old Chromes on it and it's pretty much late 70s-80s disco funk heaven. Boost the treble a tad and it cops a decent 80s Pino tone too. The passive mode is also very usable, not a big drop in volume and works well for that Dart-esque vibe. It's my first Sire and I can see why people rave about them. The fit and finish is absolutely excellent on the one I got, and the setup was also pretty much spot on - a bit on the high side action-wise perhaps, but I lowered it with no issues, no truss rod tweaks needed. The nut slots might be a smidge high too, but I've seen way worse on much pricier instruments. The problem is I'm now looking at that natural Z7, and Sire's guitars too 🤣 A fretless Z3 would also be an absolute boss move from Sire, but that might be a bit niche for them. Here's hoping the range works well and they add to it.
It's so awesome finally having you showing those and funny that you missed the passive/active 😂 For that, I think Sterling's " counter offensive " with their more affordable, passive only stingray, is cool. Healthy competition right there. I miss the roasted maple on Sire's more affordable options on all their new lineups though. You two make a perfect duo btw 😁
MAN I'd really like the burgundy model with the roasted maple neck. Probably going to hold out until next year to see if they release that as an option.
I have a Rickenbacker with a lacquered neck that I like. But I have another with a natural wenge neck with an ebony fretboard, all unfinished that is fantastic. ( it’s a custom neck I ordered from Warmoth) But the bass you have in your hands is always the best bass😁
OMG….🤟😎😲 I really miss my old American made SUB MusicMan…. Heck, think I really like the idea of these Z Basses…. Could really go for one of these. Could I be tempted by a 5 string version? Not sure. Have dipped my toe in the water of 5 string a few times over the years and never really been converted to 5 as a permanent option. Some nice colour options. Really tempted by the MM/J pick-up option. “Hello There Humbucker” Obi Wan Bass Well done Sire.
They sound great and the prices are awesome, but the pickup dont have that music man sizzle, but i love the natural and black sparkle how bought you, like if you agree with me !! 8/10 my rate
Sire hit ANOTHER GRAND SLAM WITH THE Z3 AND Z7!!!!! If I hadn't gotten a great deal on a Music Man StingRay 5 H Special, I would have held out for a Z75!!! GREAT DEMOS!!!
Cici is exactly the person I wanted an opinion on these basses on so cheers! are the headstocks smaller than the average fender one? I was really upset they had to change them as full size fender bass headstocks are absurdly big and bang on everything
Mentioning the alphabet’: That new F10 6-string looks and sounds amazing. Finally a ‘Fodera’ that comes within reach 😎🔥🥳🤩. So waiting (and saving) for that one 😅💰
I really wish they'd expand their short-scale options beyond the PJ configurations. I'd snap up a short Jazz (or Z with the HS configuration) in a heartbeat.
Hey lovely people from Andertons ! Could you make a "Sound like Nolly Getgood without breaking the bank" for us bassists someday ? As usual, love the content !
Great demo, the lack of any has been maddening, seriously wtf. Anyway, great sampling of the tones. Why the hell didn't they just make all the colors available for both Z3 and Z7. I want the Z7, but I also want the Sparkle Black. First world problems!
When are you guys going to have Kyle Kim on? I've seen him do interviews on other channels and he's got a super interesting story; he'll tell you basically anything you want to know and seems to be just a "regular guy" sort of person who basically just wanted something that wasn't there so he made it. ;-)
That outro jam was so nice guys! So the 5 string J MM has 4 band does it have a mids frequency sweep as well? I thought Lee said it had that and thought I read it also
Just to clarify, active/passive switching is possible on the Z7 & the Z3.
Maybe the descriptions are being updated already but Sire should push that, as every product description I've seen on boutiques so far don't mention that at all, yet there is a push/pull switch indeed :)
yes !
Ah, that's a welcome addition. Keep it up!👍
is there any tone control in passive mode?
@@SisterRoseNo, there is not.

Amazing sound. Great looks. Good
Price too.
I can get both basses for a grand.
Awesome!😅
A shout out for the drummer on the jams - great "less is more" groove with the minimum kit. And the basses sound killer and are affordable.
Yes, great solid drumming there.
- by the last 8 bars, he actually smiled and played a little more of that less 😋
Those basses have a huge sound ! Well done Sire, and well precented CiCi and Lee. Beautyfull jam 🎉
Finally a Z series review, have waited a long time for this
I like how the 5 string version keeps the same pick guard. I always wish MM would offer an option like that.
They do.
Classic line does
They do have it but it’s a rare find but I agree it should be a easier option to find
I always wanted the opposite, Stingray 5 style guard on a 4 string.
I wish the 5 string pickguard was offered on the 4 string.
I waited eternity for this review, thanks guys!
Dude same.
I love that the J pickup is actually a Split Coil J... No wonder this bass sounds so freaking great.
Is it? Where did you get that info?
Yes, I saw that on the Sire website as well. It is a split coil jazz pickup. Cici's new hairstyle looks amazing
This is the best duo after Chappers and the captain!
I'm not even a bassist but I thoroughly enjoy watching these two, such good vibes!
FINALLY! Can’t wait to try one of these bad boys
that intro was tight guys. i didnt want it to end.
I love watching these two, so entertaining and informative. I never miss their videos 😀

Cici, don't listen to the haters.
Sire have outdone themselves - these will sell by the truckloads as an all rounder second bass or 5 string alternative.
Great demo btw x
Feeling that end jam! Good job!
One word…
*B-E-AUTIFUL*
Lovely bass
Thanks guys, great review & nice outro !
Thank you for posting clips of this bass! I preordered on months ago and just found out today it will be arriving in about 2 weeks so it is great to hear what it will sound like since there have only been a few videos posted of them.
What one did you get?
@@bassimprovjams3772 I preordered the Z7 4 string with the natural finish.
Loved the video thanks ordered one off yourselves, should be in stock and posted out anyday now , can't wait
Oh unfortunately I found out on the last day that they will be another 9 days at least very disappointing
Hell yeah, great review like always - damn, those Sire basses sounds as close as it gets to the original, absolutely phantastic!! And it's so cool to see you on this channel, Cici! Keep it up! 😎👍
You should do a Sire shootout between their basses and their counterparts in Squire's P and J basses and Sterling's Stingray!
@mundane_in_the_membrane
That's not really fair since one is good and the Sterling's Fantastic! lolin' BTW, killer handle there Mundane
If they wait a bit they can even compare it to Sterling's response to this ( I presume it is ).
They released a 300 dollars passive Ray in South Korea roughly a month ago, I presume this will hit the global market in the next months.
Fantastic demo. Cici is always has the best feedback. I might get one of these, thank you!
Great playing guys! Such good value basses!
You forgot to mention that since it's Sire, all the models are/will be available in left-handed versions too.
They sound legit! Great demo
Great review of some really nice basses. The outro though...Beautiful!
That Outro guys ❤ I’ve got a Sire P bass and I’ve owned American and Japanese Fenders but that Sire is right up there in terms of playability, never owned a Stingray as I generally don’t like active Bass’s but 🤔

Omg! The Marcus Miller Stingray bass.
correct! and with possibility to give it more low-end than the Stingray with the Z7 model blending the humbucker with the single coil pickup!

@@luigi.zanini It is actually a Split Coil J pickup - not a single coil.
And it is still "MM"😆

To Sire with Love!
Lovely playing in the outro! 👍
very very nice jam at the end !!!!! 😍
FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this since NAMM show
That sound at 14:00 is just really awesome
A shootout with Sterling and Cort GB75JH (same configuration than Z7) would be interesting
These two are great together. I don't even play bass but really enjoy these videos.
Yo! I've been waiting to see Andertons do a video on this bass for a while. I've been eyeing the natural wood one for months. Great video and sound guys
Oh yeah, I want the one with the front pickup. Sweet
They definitely have tone that's reminiscent of vintage pre-EB Stingrays. They still lack a bit of bite though.
A Sire Stingray!? Let's go!
A Sire MM(Marcus Miller) Stingray!
I wanted to hear the Z3 played by Lee. What a bass player!
😊😊
Happy Birthday Lee!
Cici and Lee are the staple of this channel
They should be on a lot more they are amazing 🙌🤘🙏

The beginning of this video reminded me of the song ‘Take it Away” from Paul McCartney, from 1982…
It’s close to that stingray thing but not quite there… still amazing for the money
Super cool!! Got to get one or two.
I've always wanted a P MM pickup bass, with a coil tap on the MM. So i get Jazz bridge, P bass, PJ and MM sounds.
Love this show!
Great review🙂

Is the Z7 body slightly smaller than that of the Z3?
Passive P bass is The Perfect Studio Bass
Oh no! The five string looks and sounds great...
The best studio bass is leland sklar's frankenstein. The pickup layout on it alone makes it objectively the best

The sire Z7 (4 and 5) string have a 3 band EQ with mid sweep, the sire Z3 has none
@@phipschi4255oh ok cool
The 5 string looks smaller than the 4's body; that could be the reason for the weight discrepancy.
One of those 5-string Sire models would appeal to me if I wasn’t caught up in the idea of getting a headless 5-string.
Can I raise a practical question at this point? Are we going to do Stone'enge tomorrow?
these go to eleven
When are these coming to stores???
Active basses with pre amp but will they play if batteries are dead - or can you turn pre amp off?
yes i wait to hear sound Sire Z series....
So is a “split-J pickup” like a P pickup in a smaller housing? I was hoping the 2 pickup version would have a P pickup in the neck.
