Andy could you make a video on the prep before and after shooting new content, a behind the scenes look. I'm a great fan of your work, within a few seconds of your posts, I go straight into relaxation mode and forget all the ills of the world.

Thanks for a fine explanation of the function of a tomahawk. Our First Nations in North America appreciated them, even as war axes. Day-to-day, they were light to carry and useful for disjointing deer-sized game animals. THANKS also for including the frow: fine for making cedar shakes for roofing and for splitting wood. If one does not wish to hammer on the spine of a knife, the frow is indispensable. As for the compact shovel: it could 'save your life in combat. It does good work in making a camp as well.

Great to see this Andy , much prefer using my hand tools to powered , good to see the Billhook mentioned a very underrated tool i have several different types my favourite being a vintage flat top with a curved blade a great all rounder 👍
I AM NOT A PURIST: I am an OLD FELLA. Power tools helped to prolong what I could do in the woods. HUZZAH FOR THE BILLHOOK. That is such a fine, traditional UK tool.

Hi. How do you maintain your tools? Can you make a video about it?
Good suggestion!! Over the years, I have used plain soap and water to wash away heavy soil. I followed that up with light motor oil. Steel wool works very well for removing 'sticky' residue.
Thanks for the review…however, I would rather see you give a personal demonstration at my campsite while cutting and chopping wood..😂!

The axe you picked up after the splitting maul , is what we call a small persons broad axe . My dad had 3 grownups broad axe they had about 2 x cutting edge .

One minor point I may have missed, the purpose of a fro is to split wood into shingles..very useful for creating weather resistant cover, when a tent or tarp is not preferred.

I have started to receive logs so hopefully not too long now, it will only be small, using 9'6 (standard copice length) of chestnut
i find the bucksaw sounds so much nicer then anything else it feels like a saw and it don't sound tinny if u know what i mean lol good vid

I was hot tenting last weekend and used the hammer head of a small camp axe (hatchet) instead of a piece of wood to hammer a fixed blade bushcraft knife when batonning wood for my stove. Any thoughts about that?
Better to strike your knife with something softer, beware of flying splinters too.

Try the British Army mod knife it's bullet proof, ugly looking tool but it will serve you well!

3:57 Bit mystified: why on earth would one want to carve fiddly bits with an axe/hatchet? It makes no sense. (Please don't say "If it was all you had" because if I could have (and I still don't see why) one tool, it certainly wouldn't be an axe!). 6:00 Now those knives are for carving - now even more confused. 8:36 Not having used either, I'm curious as to why you changed from the Bigboy to the buck saw? It looks much more cumbersome and bulky/heavy to carry. I've seen numerous reviews that speak very highly of the Silky. 15:00 What I would like to see is a tool for drilling small (1/4") to medium (3/4") holes that is smaller/lighter to carry than a bit & brace, like a mini-auger. Are such available? Thanks for an informative video, and some thought starters. I guess a LOT will depend on what activity one is going to tackle, before deciding what tools to take with. I despair of be-all-end-all one pack does everything type videos. The century-old motto of the Boy Scouts that Lord Baden-Powell came up with still holds: "Be Prepared!"
