    Maestro Domingo..the one and only Otello....and Dame Kiri made a wonderful couple everytime they appeared on stages all over the world together. Dame Kiri isn't an actress as he's a perfect actor...but indeed they match beautifully! Thanks for posting this wonderful clip.

      Falso. Además el mérito es en un aria no al final que le aplauden a todos. Y en mitad de un aria hay muchos que superan a Domingo. Es el rey pero del marketing. Manejar a la prensa, canto engolado intentando oscurecer una voz de manera artificial.

    What a wonderful treat to see and hear the two greats of the last century. I have the dvd of "Otello" with them in it and it's amazing. I am going to see Dame Kiri in her farewell recital in Philadelphia in two weeks. It's going to be bittersweet.

      Ele está bem no Otello. Mas Del Mônaco com a Tebaldi são insuperáveis. Devo lembrar o ótimo Vídeo que contém Cavalleria Rusticana e Pagliacci com Plácido Domingo e entre outros Tereza Stratas. Também no adaptação para o cinema da Lá Traviata , todas produções de Franco Zefirelli. Acho que as Emissoras de São Paulo nunca mostraram. Aliás só conhecem o filme Romeu e Julieta.

    With Solti conducting. Wow. This is beyond breathtaking. The only other Desdemona worthy of Domingo's Otello would be Katia. But Kiri is just a hair's breadth different. Domingo later recalls how much Kiri was so perfect as Desdemona because she loves Otello so very much. I could not agree more. The 1992 Covent Garden performance with these two giants of the opera art form with Sergei Lieferkus as Iago and Clare Powell as Amelia, Robin Liggate as Cassio, is the version of Otello you must own on DVD. Zeffirelli, for reasons unknown, didh't treat Otello with the respect he showed his La Traviata. Sadly, it's the only DVD version still available to buy from online vendors. Subscription services are the death of art for the world. Find it now. Because when Maestro Domingo is called back to train more angels to sing more beautifully, the supply here on earth will be on constant back order.

      Great moments of opera I actually prefer the Domingo/ Fleming version a bit more. Her voice is just as ravishing as Kiri’s, James Morris has a more commanding demeanor, and Domingo is even more believable as the betrayed warrior.

      Great moments of opera Thank you. I’ve seen Domingo and Vickers as Otello at the Met Opera. Legendary. I just saw Stuart Skelton and Sonya Yoncheva a few nights ago. It wasn’t too good, I’m sorry to say. It makes me appreciate even more how great Plácido was in this opera.

    Assisti o Otello com Del Mônaco no Municipal de São Paulo. Inteirou naquele período aqui com a Cia do Teatro São Carlos de Nápoles 300 apresentações no papel do Mouro de Veneza. Mas o ponto alto da temporada foi a Gioconda de Amilcare Ponchielli. Foi espetacular com Gianni Raimondi, Helena Suliottis Marta Rose e Gian Giacomo Guelfi . Super espetacular a principal bailarina Rita Romanelli na Dança das Horas. Cenário e Guarda Roupa nota dez.

    É bom lembrar que a estreia de Del Mônaco no Otello aconteceu em Buenos Aires no Cólon. Estava com seus 34 anos. Já sua estreia no Il Trovador foi no Teatro Municipal de São Paulo.

      O Plácido Domingo está bem no vídeo completo com a Kite , mas o maior intérprete foi Mário Del Mônaco incluindo sua voz Il Trovador e Lá Forza del Destino.

      O Otello com Plácido Domingo e Kiri Ktanawa é ótimo. Mas Del Mônaco foi o melhor intérprete. Assista o filme o Rei da Melodia com ótimo Elenco. Vários trechos das Óperas de Verdi. O Del Mônaco é imbatível em várias Óperas de Verdi, especialmente no Trovador, Força do Destino, Hernani e no Otello.
      A melhor gravação do Rigoletto já é com Di Stefano, Maria Callas e Tito Gobbi. Luccia de L'ammemore com Maria Callas e Ferruchio Tagliavine.
      A Gioconda com Rosalind Elias, Zinnka Milanov e Giuseppe de Stefano.

    fantastic and beautiful performance. Kiri would not give him his bacio though! Poor Othello. I always cry at the end of this cause i know whats coming! i hate knowing whats coming!!

    Wow if I someone singing like that to me..I'' more that just a 'bacio'...How can anyone resist such virile and sensous singing. Kiri was not looking at him much which is not characteristic of her...maybe if she look at him too much she might forget her lines or maybe its got something to do with Solti!!!

    Verdi's best-and I am not the only one with that opinion. Another quote from that same novel- but let throw out the fiction character of Heathcliff and replace him with a real person- the singer in the above video: "..not because he's handsome, Nelly, but because he's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same, and Linton's is as different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from fire"
