I love Christmas decoration trips. The first or second weekend in December is my time. I don't enjoy Christmas decorations until December 1 (November is Thanksgiving; December is Christmas!) I'm not able to enjoy the famously low crowd September and January yet because of work, but when I retire in two years, I'll do both. I don't find late August bad, and that's my time for traveling with my young nephew and niece.

I am an old geezer. Retired years ago. I go to WDW twice a year: November (just before Turkey Day) and mid-May. Seems to work out well. I switched from staying at the Wilderness Lodge and am now really happy with Saratoga Springs. I really like your videos! 👍

Thanks very much Charles. Easier to get villas at Saratoga Springs for sure. I wish other DVC’s had the free ‘cabana-like’ areas that the quiet pool does at Wilderness Lodge.

Hey Charles, I’m curious if there was a reason why you’ve switched staying from Wilderness Lodge to Saratoga Springs?
We are creating a new series of videos focusing on different select WDW resorts from a senior’s point of view (our first on Grand Floridian will drop in a week or two) which can be different from that of a young family. Appreciate your input if you have the time to share. Thank you very much!

@@NanDanTravel Good morning from a very, very cold Colorado! I loved the Wilderness Lodge for a few reasons: the theming of WL reminds me of home; it’s really, really quiet at night; and boat service to WL from the Magic Kingdom was far less crowded at the end of a long day in the park. As you well know the lines for the monorail at park closing are often discouraging. Discouraging. That’s my way of saying godawful. That said, once you’re back at the WL, the options for restaurants and other entertainment venues are very, very limited. Once I discovered Saratoga Springs and its close proximity to the plentiful dining/shopping/pubs of Disney Springs, I never looked back. I like that the buildings of SS are spread out rather than densely situated. The Turf Club is handy for rainy nights when the walk to Disney Springs seems daunting. I think the convenience store at SS could be better stocked and have longer operating hours though. Even though I am usually by myself, I always book a one-bedroom villa as I want - and need - an in-unit washer/dryer as I typically stay for 10 or 11 nights. Well, that was certainly a long-winded reply to your question. Sorry!

Great advice! I'm in my forties and realizing that August might be getting too hot for me at WDW (and I'm from California, where 100+ temperatures are pretty common in Summer). For people who can't do extreme heat and humidity, it's probably a good idea to avoid Summer in central Florida!

I’m in UK and have nearly 400 DVC points, intending to use them as a month winter getaway when retired. Bit of time over at Vero with them as well.
We currently go summer or Xmas with the kids, but no way will we do this post retirement. That 3/4 weeks will be November or end of January.

I'm going on my first solo trip in late Sept. I usually go with my adult son and friends during his Christmas break (He teaches college), so I have seen all of the holidays decorations. I'm not that interested in the festivals, so I think I'm going at the right time. I just want to stroll, ride a few rides, and drink a few cocktails!

Sounds like a great plan ….. our tradition is in EPCOT to go to the left and get a frozen margarita in the Mexico 🇲🇽 area …. the first sip is another indication that we’ve arrived! Hope you have a great trip Jeanette!
