Disney World's BEST Kept Secret: Boulder Ridge 1 Bedroom
Don’t forget about Disney’s Boulder Ridge Villas, one of the best kept secrets of Disney Vacation Club resorts. It's hiding in plain site, but DO NOT TELL ANYONE! It's one of the best Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World for adults and seniors.
Disney Vacation Club Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are a true gem, especially after the recent refurbishment.
In this video we tour a one bedroom villa at Boulder Ridge, noticing the wonderful tranquil the theming even with placement and usage of Disney characters here and there in the unit. It’s just perfect for adults and seniors for numerous reasons.
You can view here the villa tour of the mid-building corner 1 bedroom villa also at Boulder Ridge which was laid out differently, arguably more spacious and bright with more windows to compare between the two for yourself:

Home resort, we have been going to WL since 2012. Renos for BRV in 2022 are great. Rooms are themed perfectly. The location is serene. Pool is a great spot to chill out after putting on the miles at the parks and not usually very busy. We love the train room and the cozy cottage feeling. It’s our favourite resort.

We don't do a lot of character meals this day but we nearly always do this one. Fun to meet the characters but it's such a lovely place to sit for a meal (if ourside). The malasadas must be new because I remember having them last year (June 23) but did try them on Maui and they are SO GOOD. Guess we'll be going for breakfast again next trip. That bird was so cute. Disney doesn't care about its customers in general, let alone its seniors. Disney is currently trying to exploit the memories and nostalgia we provided our children by patronizing their parks and buying their products. The current CEO, Bob Iger, has publicly stated that Disney's new business model is to fleece the once-in-a-lifetime visitors as much as possible in favor of catering to those repeat customers who contributed to the success that Disney has become. Since he has squandered Disney's profits on losing propositions like Disney+, ideological movie agendas, and white washing Disney's past, he intends to prop up the struggling business with profits from the parks. As of now, Disney parks generate 30% of the company profits and 70% of its generated revenue annually. They have cut staff and maintenance to the bone. They couldn't care less about discounts for those who have spent tens of thounds of dollars over a lifetime to support them. Good luck getting them to listen to you. They didn't even listen to their single largest stock holder. We have no chance except to avoid them and encourage our children and their children to avoid them as well. Disney has gone from the happiest place on earth to the greediest.

I totally agree. My boyfriend and I have stayed at Beach Club Resort and Villa 3x and love it. It is so relaxing and peaceful. I love that we are close the Epcot. The boat to HS is convenient. We enjoy the quiet pools and Solarium. We have also turned my nephew and his wife into it. There is not rushing around. Granted the buses can be annoying with times but hey, it is to only the other 2 parks and Springs. For the longest time I used to stay at Pop Century do to the price but since we found Beach Club, we can't go back.

a queue with seats for seniors at bus stops. If there are others in their party, they could stand in the regular queue, then the seniors would join them when they are about to board the bus. Yes! We were the Disney kids, the Disney teens, the Disney Adults, and now the Disney Seniors. Our love of the Disney parks has not aged, so please do not force us to age out of the parks! Remember us and treat us with the same thoughtfulness, care, and consideration you treat the parks we aged with! We were the Cast Members, the first to get married at the parks, the first to honeymoon at the parks, and we moved to Florida and California to be near the parks. Some of us were never blessed with children or grandchildren, but we still visit the parks, probably more frequently than any other demographic because we have the time and the money. Finally, the company's leaders should pay attention because most of you are now seniors too! Take one day in any of the parks to visit not as a VIP senior, but as an everyday senior and you will understand exactly what we experience, what we need to continue to visit, and what will make us still feel like part of the Disney family and not pushed aside. Thank you.

I agree. I wish they would allow us to skip lines with free Lightning Lane. That would be nice, but if we are with our kids and grandkids, they would pay because they are better able to afford the extra expense. The DAS was taken away from those of us who have medical issues that make it tough to stand in lines for long periods of time. Just not fair to those of us who have physical issues with legs and feet (diabetes). Scooters are expensive to rent, even off-site. Wheelchairs, someone has to push. One senior pushing another senior is physically difficult. Most seniors do not want their children pushing the wheelchair. I feel guilty, when our son is relegated to that task.

@@NanDanTravel You should join up with some disability groups to make your voice even louder. The fact that incomes are lower for Seniors and the disabled, and that there is a lot of overlap in the groups means that Disney is gouging those two groups. Other demographics have a choice to stand in long lines or not. Seniors and the disabled don't have that luxury. They can't tolerate what younger and able-bodied people can. So Disney is price gouging seniors and the disabled by forcing extra costs for Scooters and shorter lines. They are a necessity, not a choice.

I think if Disney does this the age should be 65 and over, BUT not one senior and 6 family members. I get grandkids but not a whole lot of family and friends taking advantage. For Disney Passholders from out of state, mornings and days aren't something that would be an advantage. If there is nobody disabled it should be common sense someone might use the restroom. It should not be expected to just sit open. Families should wait as that is not a disability.

This suggestion doesn't actually apply to cost savings except if it were done I'd be able to stay longer in the parks. Two years ago when my husband and I visited, I was amazed at how few benches were in shaded areas. I had to leave every day before dark because the sun just exhausted me (and this was the second week in December!). This had never happened before, but then, I'd never been to the parks at 67 years old. We ate table service meals (no meal plan) and bought many souvenirs while we were there. If we could have stayed to closing that would have been a lot of money in Disney's pocket. Along the same lines, please add more seating in general. There really is nowhere to sit in the Star Wars area. The biggest cost savings would be if seniors got some kind of discount on resort stays, especially during the week. My husband and I are fairly flexible when we could travel and getting even a slight discount in a slow month would help (we would love to visit a couple of times a year, rather than every two or three years).

Only the Poly appeals to me unless I could get a great deal at Wilderness. My favorite resort on property is AKL but being close to Epcot is most important to me as a senior in his 70’s.

Hi 👋 Larry, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts…. absolutely for older adults with progressively increasing mobility challenges ease of transport from the Disney Resort to their favorite park is very important……Nancy and I like them all equally for different reasons ….. we typically do split stays and arrange to go to the parks closest to each Disney resort to reduce resort to park travel effort and time. We also spend less time in the parks and more at the resorts so staying at a resort where we feel relaxed with inviting theming is becoming more and more important to us. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts!

@@NanDanTravel One of the most perplexing things that is common to all Disney parks is that upon entering or leaving, one must walk in the furthest opposite direction, then turn back. Leaving Epcot or the Magic Kingdom, instead of being able to exit through turnstiles and gates to the left, instead the direct shortest path to the bus stops, one has to go far right, then go back. It is harrowing for those with limited mobility. Place security personnel at those unused gates, with signage “Senior citizen or Handicap access only” As a pass holder and DVC member, I’ve never seen those exits to the left utilized in the last 15 years.

@@Teacher659 Thank you so much for returning and taking the time for this. You are sooooo right. I can't agree more. After a partial or full day in the parks whether one is fully mobile or has limited mobility, uses an ECV or not, the Disney security approach that you describe leaving the Disney theme parks....... at least in WDW......I can't recall at DL myself at the moment....as you described is headscratching to say the least. Yes, I'm sure there is some bigger security issue / concerns that we are not privy to which has Disney security use this strategy. Yet, at least at face value I agree with you completely. Again, thank you so much for returning and elaborating on this issue you raised. Much appreciated!

@@NanDanTravel One last thought, the Handicap access lines need to return. I absolutely understand and witnessed myself, people abusing it by 6 people in line with a handicap person just to jump the line. They should bring it back, but limit those that accompany the Handicapped person to two, not a whole entourage. Unfortunately there were scams where able body people were “hiring” a disabled person just to cut lines and gain access. But again, it doesn’t have to be an all or nothing approach, Disney can fix that easily.

I'm collecting all of these ideas that had yet to be mentions on the Disney for Seniors Facebook Group's initial polling of the group members which gave rise to this and to the Part 1 video. Not only do we plan to include them in a Part three wrap-up video but as the Disney for Seniors Facebook Group moves forward to include them when we are ready to push outside of the Group and this TH-cam channel for older Disney fans. @@NanDanTravel We are DVC Members as well. However, we still cannot visit WDW more than once a year for whatever reason. In 2015 they announced that the Non-Expiring Ticket Option was ending. I purchased two sets of 10-day non-expiring tickets, and we are just now getting to the second set. If we could get more then we could afford to go to the parks. Not now with $140+ per day. That is way over our budget for retirement. Because of DVC we can at least go and enjoy the resort and maybe a restaurant or two but that is about it. We live in NC so we have to drive because of increasing hassles and cost of air travel.
