Eagles Player Takes Young Fan to Daddy-Daughter Dance After Her Father's Death

- Audrey Soape and her family have been fans of Eagles safety Anthony Harris since he played for the Vikings. After Audrey’s father and grandfather died, Harris traveled all the way to Texas to take her to a daddy-daughter dance. The family spoke with NBC10’s Aaron Baskerville about Harris’ heartwarming gesture.
I tell my kids... don't look up to athletes because of what they do on the field..... Look up to those who do great things off the field.

This is Tim Tebow-esque for sure. Now if only all overpaid athletes (90%) were like Tim Tebow who built the hospital in the Philippines this world would be a much better place. Huge kudos to this football player following Tim's lead. There are quite a few athletes just like this unfortunately it's just such a small percentage.

I was commenting above about how PRESENT he was with her. Not a publicity thing nor did he do it to merely prove to the world that ya can do good things.... he really felt for that family. He was truly present in the moment, and that little girl was glowing as she danced. I am hoping this took key sad thoughts about her dad not being able to go with her, even though her thoughts are most likely always with him. I bet her dad was in that room as well. What a special moment.

This worked both ways. They supported him as fans even reaching out on social media to show that support. The family made a real connection with Harris, and he felt the need to reach out to them when they needed it as well.

This is a story where one player reached out to a fan and acts like a REAL MAN instead of some overpaid primadonna! It's things like this that need to be reported more, celebrated more, because society is being destroyed by ideological tribalism. Something which sport should NOT be part of.

Exactly!!! I was thinking about how clear it was that he really felt for that special little gal... I've said it in a couple comment responses as well as my post above, but I can't help but say again how present he was in that room with her. He wasn't trying to show the world that he did a nice thing, it was real and all class. It showed all over that little sweetheart if a young lady's expressions too. Anthony Harris really did something special, and it's super cool how grounded that family was too... they kept it about the young lady. Not a publicity moment of her daughter chilling with a pro dude type of thing, ya know what I mean? It was all done with pure heart. And you said it right, his smile showed how he his inside as well.

Now that is paying it back, the family offered him( Harris) words of encouragement during hard times, in doing this he has payed back that support and then some, he has given a young girl some positive and fantastic memories.

You’re damn right she will. When I was 11, I was a huge WWF fan and I liked chris Jericho, he wasn’t my favorite, but I liked him. He came to my local mall to sign autographs. It was $50 to get a picture signed. I had just recently broke my arm and got a cast the week before. When we got to the beginning of the line to get the picture, the guy says, “if you want your cast signed, it’ll be another $50.” My mom said we couldn’t afford it. We get up to Jericho, and he signs the picture then asks, “would you like me to sign your cast?” I told him “that guy over there said it would be $50 and we cant afford it.” He gave the dirtiest look ever to the guy, then looked back at me with a huge smile and said “give me your arm” and signed his name SUPER big on my cast. I was so happy and it brought my mom to tears. He hugged her and we left. After that, he became one of my favorite wrestlers and its one of my favorite childhood memories.

My son almost lost his father last year and I have spent a lot of time thinking how tough it would have been for him and my wife if I hadn’t made it.
