Such a beautiful documentary. Actually, I also live here in Nepal with Tibetan as neighbors. They are the very kind and honest people I have met. I just love Tibetan culture and thanks for presenting this beautiful culture to the whole world.
What u have seen about Tibet n Tibetans India n Nepal aren’t fake and exaggerated.Just by watching one wedding frm small village in Tibet doesn’t represent the whole of Tibet culture. I have attended several tibetan weddings n this is the first time seeing dowry in tibetan wedding. My cousin sister had a wedding few years ago n she didn’t have dowry. All she had was the gift frm ppl who came to the wedding n obviously special gift frm her parents n families as a memories( esp mum’s jewellery, precious symbolic family gift).gift frm the bride is not a demand frm groom family. It’s just the way to sent her daughter away with no empty hand.
Wow. I m so impressed! It is cultural! I remember when I was 18 a family invited my family to a wedding. After the wedding all women when to sleep. Men stayed downstairs talking n drinking. The father of the bride spoke to my dad to arrange my wedding with his son. My dad was so shocked because we as teen never meant to be a couple. Just friends. My dad declined the offer because he wasn’t informed by me or nothing. So dad stopped me from getting into an arranged wedding. Thanks for posting this family event.
Tibetan wedding is very similar to Indian wedding like horse ride, giving money and make a record about it, women singing, host reading what bride and groom families gave to each other, dowry etc. I'm actually quite surprised about this and liked it a lot. Few years back I visited a Tibetan town in India and welcomed by warm hearted Tibetan people. Sending best wishes to bride and groom. 🤗
May they be happy always. May he treat her well and may she be a good wife that is loved. I am in awe that although we are from completely different countries, races and religious backgrounds we have so many similarities in our traditions and dances. Native American cultures and other aboriginal cultures share so much in common. Many blessings to all.
This is a beautiful ceremony. I do feel a bit sad for the mom of the bride. The sadness she feels letting her daughter go. I to wish them a happy, health and prosperous life together.

@@TibettravelOrg Yes, thank you so much. I have never seen anything like it. You presented it with the utmost respect for the entire thing. You have a great storytelling eye and as the conduit to the subject, a most valuable touch of welcoming minimalism. You showed your affection and respect but did not insert yourself excessively. Very well done. What struck me the most was that in the shots near windows or when leaving the buildings, when the outdoors came into the frame, the overpowering beauty of the mountains outside were shocking and powerful - that this is the everyday background, reality and complete environment to these peoples' lives. Stunning. I appreciate this short work so much. Sorry if this rude to ask, but can you tell me what industry the bride's (your) family is in to have accumulated such wealth? Thank you.
Thank you for showing us a traditional Tibetan wedding in a village . It was great to see new Tibetan culture in Tibet . Tashi Delek. Greetings from India .

Thanks to the families for sharing such a special occasion. They are a beautiful couple and I hope they have grown their bonds of friendship and love and are enjoying all the happiness in the world.
Even though I live so so far from Tibet and my culture so very different, watching this reminds me how alike we are as people! As humans we can all relate to the happiness of gathering with family to celebrate a wedding, the 2 families getting to know each other and wishing well to the new couple and their life together, the bride being nervous and sharing emotional moments with her parents, the work of all the preparations of food, clothing and decorations, the cousins helping the bride get dressed, having ones religious traditions/beliefs represented....(the giving of gifts and recording them is something we do in the southern USA as well!) Although your beautiful sister had no idea where she was going or who she would marry...I would imagine most new brides share the nervousness and anxiety of leaving their home and family to start a new life with her husband! This video was 2 years ago and I am so curious how she and her new family are doing today?? I hope you can do another video one day showing how she is doing!
Greetings from Randa, a small place within the "Swiss Himalayans", in the South of Switzerland, to the newlywed couple! May health and prosperity reign their life and God bless their family life with healthy and happy children! ... Being quite emotional during the whole ceremony, a few teardrops squeezed out of my eyes! All these lovely people, all these bright colours and so many different dishes of plenty of food! How lucky you all are there, so far away from my place! May God bless you all! Josef

It doesn't seem fair that in some cultures the bride's family gives expensive dowries to the bridegroom's family. The bride's family "loses" a daughter and should be the one to get expensive dowries from the bridegroom.
Well unfortunately this is the case in many chinese provinces some greedy parents take it to the next level, bride price can go to hundred thousands to some case million when it comes to a rich guy, added everything from house, vehicle and cash gift. Yes it is not uncommon for some of northern families asking much thesedays, they really do mean it seriously sometimes. Although if the guy is poor, he can discuss to downgrade that price according to his financial capability, but this is usually the part where a lot of face culture is exchanged tensely and lot of acting poor to be consistent with the said financial description is needed, lol. Gosh i will be honest with u, for some of these people and i am not on a shortage of finding them, they really mean to “sell” their own daughter
Ok, It's a trend from the culture of scarcity, the groom is responsible rest of her life but that doesn't mean parents don't make a contribution to her life. IN TODAYS times of abundance this might seem cruel.
Thank you, thank you for inviting us to your sister's beautiful wedding! Love everything how everyone plays their part, family, everybody from the villager. I used to think that tibetan culture is somewhat like mixture of Indian and Chinese culture, but it's actually a total different world. Amazing ! Appreciable. I also live very near to the tibetan border, and I've witnessed a little bit essence of tibetan culture in my own province (of India). I wish, I could visit the real tibet once in my life.

@@elenagava4660 I'm not advocating arraigned marriage. I knew there'd be "you type" in my comments. You missed the point. This is THEIR custom in THEIR country. I respect that and saw the beauty of it. Maybe you could, idk, stop trying to paint other cultures with a westernized brush. 🤷♀️
@@BeeCharma Oh please. The notion that one should respect all traditions in all cultures is absurd. It's not about painting with a western brush. It's about common sense. Denying a woman to choose her own fate for her life is not worthy of respect just because it's part of the "culture."

Hi, I'm from Hungary 🇭🇺. Extraordinary fact is that your traditions are so similar to ours ( unfortunately, not these days, but about a hundred years ago or so). Amazing!
These obscenely sexist traditions WERE very common in many cultures A HUNDRED YEARS AGO and are nothing of which to celebrate in the year 2022. But the wedding was beautiful and the food looked amazing.
@@rlud304 it's not sexist, it's parents trying to do the best for their children, both bride and groom. You don't understand the dynamics of few people in a region and a life thats instantly busy. For sure, with a 50% divorce rate, people who make 'free choices ' are definitely not more happy than people who have arranged marriages

Really great marriage celebration programme arranged by Tibetan cultire. There's no difference between basic rituals between Indian and Tibetan marriage social rules and rituals. Absolutely enchanting marriage ceremony of your sister Tsering in village. Everything is excellent .you have showed an envelope to give gift which we used here in India. On the wedding day the mom was crying and the father was giving advices really in INDIA do the same things. The mom cries for the daughter going away to live in her Parent in law house. It is an cause of tension and anxiety as the parents of girl is always worried what kind of parents in law would be. My daughter whether would happy or unhappy. The husband whether is good caring or not whatever the video is great to watch. Really in INDIA the groom comes on the marriage day himself and after marriage he stays and next day the groom takes with him newly wedded bride at his house. We arranged a lot of food on the day of marriage for the guests attending on the day of bride marriage day and after two day the groom also arrange a celebration for the guests and they arranged a menu of food for the guests and guests come with gifts for the bride and grooms. We too engage a priest for marriage and the priest does all the rituals. I am greatly impressed to see such magnificently impressive marriage celebration of Tibetan village. Really wonderful. Such a beautiful documentary. Actually, I also live here in Nepal with Tibetan as neighbors. They are the very kind and honest people I have met. I just love Tibetan culture and thanks for presenting this beautiful culture to the whole world.
Thank you very much for your kind support 🙏 Love from Lhasa
When we visited Dharmsala in India, and Katmandu, we were struck by the peaceful demeanor and physical beauty of the Tibetans.
Unbeilevable.
Thank you very much. All my blessings to you. 😘
I was just thinking the same. Probably it is the ancestors of these people who landed in America centuries ago. Love from india
I only saw Native American Culture in American Museum of Natural History. What a genocide China is pushing to its 55 ethnics the West claims.
This is a beautiful ceremony. I do feel a bit sad for the mom of the bride. The sadness she feels letting her daughter go. I to wish them a happy, health and prosperous life together.
That is a universal sadness that Mother's all over the world feel when their daughters marry. That will never change.
Good marriage ceremony... God bless this family...

Thank you.
I love Tibetans and Tibet. What a great people.

Their new house is beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking views
The host is the most interesting 😂😂 i find him to be jolly kind

It doesn't seem fair that in some cultures the bride's family gives expensive dowries to the bridegroom's family. The bride's family "loses" a daughter and should be the one to get expensive dowries from the bridegroom.
And why the girl is the want to go to the groom place
Exxź
Some african cultures and arabs it is the oppositie.
Amazing ! Appreciable. lol what do you think of arrange marriage ? can America have such thing?

This was spectacularly interesting to watch - thank you for this wonderful insight. I felt sad for the bride who seemed so alone when separated from her family, and I can only hope her new life is satisfying, with love and care from her husband and his family.💖

First time seeing a Tibetan marriage, in Australia i have met a beautiful couple & he took my friend Georgia's Surname, Georgia taught English in Tibet, such a sweet couple. However they met & fell in Love & moved to Australia, so not arranged. I have to admit i cried with The Mother, my heart would be sad too to see my little girl leaving. I was reminded how similar in many ways the Native American Indians are to Tibetan People, i love the colors in this wedding. I am learning because i thought Tibetans were vegetarian but after watching Methok's Story, i was taken back, i now know i know nothing hehe. I will learn, Thank You for sharing, Your Sister would be 6 months into marriage now, i wish her Peace, She looked very scared understandably. Om Shanti 🙏

Thank you for sharing, my first time to watch about Tibetan wedding. Bless
Lord Buddha bless your sister and your brother in law to be happy always. Thanks a lot for showing us such magnificently colourful ancient cultural marriage ceremony which is still survives in Tibet.
