Is it usual for japanese singers to not pronounce ending vowels?

Admittedly, I can't stand many other bands enough to notice that from their songs, but from the few I did listen to in my life, the singers tend to sing everything a lot more clearly than Kyo. And even the other Dir en grey members who sing the backing vocals for the album tracks, they commented in the past that the way Kyo asked them to sing/shout actually did not reflect the proper pronunciation of the word on paper. So, I think he definitely squeezes sentences the way he wants in order to fit the melody he is aiming for. In Japanese, the 'u' sound is often mute, but in Kyo's case in this song, you can't really hear the consonant that comes before it at all even.

Depends on the word and regional dialect. Its an accent thing.
