The tabletop miniature wargame Warhammer (or Warhammer fantasy battles) is a game in which the players simulates a battle between different medieval fanatasy armies.
The setting is a fantasy version of our very world and the players use miniatures to represent units of soldiers, taking turns in moving them on the tabletop scenario that represent the battlefield.
The game was first released in 1983 and has been supported for 3 decades with 8 different editions. The 8th was the last edition that used the old set of rules. After that Gamesworkshop released Age of Sigmar as the new game that uses still old miniatures, and new ones, with a new set of rules.
There are a lot of playable factions in the game, everyone of them with their special rulebook that contains not only set of rules but specific lore too. Factions includes humans like The Empire or Bretonnina, Elves of different kind, Dwarves, Chaos, Skavens, Orcs and Goblins, and so on.

A Humpier Rogue I’ve honestly never noticed. Most of the time I let his videos run while I’m off doing something else, only checking back occasionally. I know I’ve noticed minis before, but I always assumed they were medieval related or something. Oh well, the more you know

Warhammer makes me extremely nostalgic. It’s crazy how big Warhammer and Magic were in the mid/late 90s. Everyone even slightly nerdy was into them.

@@jordinagel1184 I just liked the old map. It was nice. This idea of just scattered planes/zones/whatnot floating in the warp seems like a really silly idea and lame excuse for explaining why any combination of armies might end up fighting each other.
@@webkilla fair enough, though I have to say that the Old World map was not very imaginative for the most part. I do not mind the different realms that much, as it allows for a lot of variety not just among different factions, but even inside a single faction, depending on which realm they inhabit; it can be very confusing though, as it obviously does not follow our own rules of geography.
That old models are so nice and simple. The newer ones are more detailed but they are so overloaded. Sometimes less is more.
This this this, they are too busy, less really is more some times.
Tou can always look at GW's LoTR modles (yes, this have LoTR modles)
@@highmarshalhelbrecht4715 Yeah, they are tiresome to look at. I also do not understand why they do this. Many models would look better if they would decorate them less.
@@merkavamkivm3373 I really like the LotR range for exact that reason. The advantage here is that GW cannot get to crazy thanks to the licence.
I think their design peaked between 6th and 7th edition on many things, even if I like stuff like 8th edition Witch Elves and Dwarf Ironbreakers. Still, to me models like metal 6th edition Dark Elf Executioners, Dwarf Longbeards and High Elf Dragon Princes aren't matched by today standards.

Seeing Bretonnians ride again is beautiful. I will never understand how the fuck Games Workshop thought that removing the faction of KNIGHTS from their FANTASY setting made any sense.

But also bitter over how it's been transformed into AoS.
Total War Warhammer is the thing that keeps the Olde Worlde together.
I say they should revert AoS back. Have Cathay and their mystics mend the Olde Worlde from the Farr Worlde.

Yeah walking into GW stores is a perilous task. If I don’t want to spend more than I planned walking into them I just run to the specific shelf, grab the thing, run back to the register and beg the cashier to be as quick as possible or I’ll end up buying 5 more things I never needed 🤣
It's definitely not a store to dawdle about in ... way too much 'oh shiny' stuff.
I just remember Age of Sigmar and Primarius Marines and then I no longer feel the temptations to enter those stores.

sat down after work, got to paint a little on a project that i started nearly 20 years ago, checked youtube, saw this video pop up - and all of a sudden the ~200 strong 6th edition darkelf-army that i'm now slowly in the process of finishing makes me even happier - glad i'm not the only one XD Your Bretons are just so beautifully done, as are all the others =D

Nice one dude! Sadly I also have the collecting bug and over the years have built quite a number of different armies. Interesting in that you like playing out historical battles with fantasy armies too! Would love to see some battle reports where you replay historical engagements with your fantasy miniatures. Agincourt - a line of High Elves being charged by waves of heavily armoured chaos knights?
Damn this sounds like a cool concept. This might give me something to do until the whole isolation thing is done, I can already see Lizardmen Carthage with Stegadons for elephants. Out of curiosity which armies did you find easiest to collect?

I play middle earth battle with my gondor army with max infantry as well vs my isengard army and its so fun to play like that ^^

really awesome collection, i don't personally own any WH minis, mostly because they are really expensive to get here in brazil. the way i got introduced to the WH universe was trough the original blood bowl game on steam (skaven/underworld coach 4 lyf), and i have been a fan since them.
There is a great community of warhammer growing in brazil (mostly Age of sigmar and 40k), if you are near São Paulo you can play warhammer in the wargaming clubs, dont need any army you can use the clubs collection. Also GW kits are coming back to stores in São Paulo

I used to work for Games Workshop as a heavy metal painter, you got a good deal on your painting. I no longer play any games workshop games (warhammer overload) I focus on 15mm sci fi, I use a system called Gruntz 15mm. I had many armies, every race and sub race except for lizard men, never cared for them. Thanks for sharing.

I got the Empire when I was 9 and then added the High Elves at age 14. My brother had the Orcs and Goblins. Many uears later, still got all the miniatures of both of us.
Great stuff! Playing Fantasy has given me some of the best memories with friends. When GW killed the world my gaming group switched over to playing Kings of War and it's fantastic! It's model agnostic and every Warhammer army can be directly ported into a Kings of War army. It uses a very similar basing scheme so you won't have to rebase your army in most cases. The owner of the company is a former GW employee during the golden years of Fantasy and it really shows in the product and game.

The playing for fun is most definitely the key thing I agree with, some being so serious about it always felt weird to me
I don't play the tabletop but I guess it is the same thing as with all competition. Some people find competing in s strategy game the most important aspect that it has. I think that if I played though, I would not care about serious competition, just seeing cool armies clash

Very nice, I thought in a previous video I spotted some brettonians on a shelf behind you. You make me feel way less guilty about spontaneously deciding to collect two different WFB armies over the pandemic without any previous miniature gaming or painting experience. I see now 2 is childs play, gotta pump those numbers up. No regrets it's been a blast, can only hope once the paintings all done the pandemic will be over. Hard to say which will take longer!

Beautiful collection! I started in 1993 and I never stopped. I have both systems and all classical factions. My dream is to make a Total War epic style photos with real minis.

Loved Warhammer back in the 90s and early 2000s. I used to travel down to Nottingham every year for the Grand Tournament. Back then I had Choas Warriors and Demons. High and Dark Elves. Bretonnia of course, and the only army I have left, a huge Orcs and Goblins army.

Will you be doing any battle reports in the future? Would be really interesting to see how you play the armies. I myself don’t play fantasy (I play 40k), but if I were to start an army I would pick the empire. I love the renaissance look they have and of course they have artillery, I love myself some artillery. Their heavier armoured infantry like the great swords also looks cool as heck.
I got into warhammer when i was 12 and i can easily say that the hobby shaped my entire young age and as today, in the Imperial year 2021, i still rock 8th edition pretty hard. Tho you can imagine what army do i play, i have also two big Lizardmen and Chaos army. I would love to play against your noble knights one day!

I never had the fantasy sets, and I would TOTALLY get a crusading set. Im a dnd player and thought up a whole crusading church to go behind a hb character. Would love to set up a WH army for it.

Excellent, well put together and unexpected video. And of course I fully approve since I am doing the same thing but with Mordheim (so hopefully will take less than 20 years to finish) and ultimately perhaps Necromunda, Gorkamorka and other games.
Also, I know and love those old PSX games (game and expansion really) even though they are probably awkward as hell by today's standard. It was so satisfying.

Fantastic presentation. I play Warhammer Fantasy 6th ed Wood elves. I also plan to make a custom Norse Viking army based on an unofficial army book. My brother have a large a Bretonnia army and we started collecting High elves now.

I played High Elves and Bretonians in 5th Edition also. They were great looking armies to field.
I've got Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen as well. "I deal in gold coin, for red blood. Or green blood."
I've played Warhammer Fantasy in the past, favoring Vampire Counts (not sure which edition), but then I got into Warhammer 40,000 and stuck with it, having started my collection with Dark Eldar back in the 90s. I still play some Mordheim, however, but not the larger scale fantasy.

Funny story, similar to your dwarf one. My boss's husband was trying to get rid of some of his hobby stuff so she talked to me, knowing I play 40k. I ended up with a fully painted Druhkari army, a half painted Eldar army, a mostly painted Stormcast army, an unpainted Idoneth army, and a half assembled unpainted Skitarii army. All for the insane price of 20 bucks. And let me say, I am resisting the urge to expand each and everyone one of them to the size of my Genestealer Cult and Tyranid armies.
