  • Quite a few of you got curious when seeing my Warhammer Fantasy miniatures in the background of my videos. So Here I show you my Bretonnian army and how I paint them, what colours I use, what techniques and why I chose the colour patters that I did :)
I hope you enjoy this video
If you do I will make more :D

Warhammer is a miniature wargame with a medieval fantasy theme produced by Games Workshop and released for the first time in 1983. It simulates battles between armies from different factions. The game is no longer supported; the new version of it is Warhammer:Age of Sigmar. Players use miniature models to represent warriors and vehicles. The playing field is a model battlefield comprising scale models of buildings, trees, hills, etc... Players take turns moving their uniots made of model warriors across the battlefield and fight the units of other players. The outcomes of fights between the models are determined by dice rolls and the statistics (strenght, armor, weapon skill, etc...) of the units.
Warhammer is set in a fictional universe notable for its "dark and gritty" background world. There are two prominent human nations: The Empire which is based on a combination of aspects of the Holy Roman Empire and Renaissance Germany, and Bretonnia, which is based on Arthurian legends and medieval France. Elves and Dwarfs, Chaos and Undeads, Lizardmen and Skaven, Orcs and Norse are other races that live in this fantasy setting and from which the players can choose an army to use on the tabletop battleground.

Painting Warhammer figures in Elder Scrolls colours is nerdy, but doing that whilst wearing an actual breastplate of armour just breaks the nerdometer!

I like the music as well! Especially the music at 8:26 which is 'Song of the Goddess: The Eternal Path' by Erutan (aka katethegreat19). She actually composed the song for Dragon Nest SEA and if you're interested, Erutan uploaded the full song on TH-cam too, it can be found here: th-cam.com/video/q4GlvOHk0Y4/w-d-xo.html And it gets even better, there's a free download link in the description. As far as I know, the link should still be working.

My respects to the end times destroying the WHFB universe.
    RIP
I recommend a slightly darker undercoat than pure white, some kind of grey. some cases, a unifying wash to darken those little corners that can be a real pain to get to.
Oh and also for a first basecoat darken your pigments just a little, then apply the second coat as pure pigment, leaving the gaps for a smooth shadow.
I had to get through a lot of heavily armoured Orcs and the wash and two-tone shadows were my mightiest weapons.

Beautiful work Metatron. Truly pleasing to the eye. And I do like that you took inspiration from TES 4. One of my favorite games. ;) I also do agree that Bretonnia is one of the best looking armies in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. As far as Total Warhammer goes, it has been the army I almost always plays.
Before Bretonnia was taken out as an official army out of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, and before Age of Sigmar was a thing even, I was intent on getting my hands on some Bretonnian miniatures. When I read the news several years ago that Bretonnia was removed from the game as an official playable army I was sad not only because of that but because of Warhammer Fantasy being cancelled. Now I'll be lucky if I'll get my hands on Bretonnian miniatures for a cheap enough price. But by the Lady do I want a Bretonnian army of my own. They scream of the 13th-14th century medieval period and that is my favorite specific era of the medieval period(I like the entirety of the medieval period the most of all human time periods but even more so when it comes to the 13th and the 14th centuries as well as the 15th century).
Of course I like all history, both human historyand that which does not concern humans in the slighest, but my personal favorite time period is the middle ages. ^^ That is a major reason why I love Bretonnia and because they're powerful.

If you haven’t painted the green knight yet, you could design him after the knight of the nine from the Oblivion dlc. He’s got that crusader look, and it would fit in with him being a legendary figure among these men-at-arms. Plus, a crusader-style knight would look more interesting than just ghostly green in my opinion. Loved the video btw! Always loved Bretonnia and wish I could get my hands on some models.

Dipende sai?

I recently just got into miniature war gaming, and started collecting 40k minis (Astra Militarum). Chose my particular army since they look like normal modern soldiers. I've been also interested in historical war games too (bolt action, osprey). I might start building up a collection of feudal japan minis and WW2 minis too! Keep making war gaming videos! [edit] Forgot to mention that I started collecting Age of Sigmar Karadron Overloads just cuz they look cool. Middle Earth Minis look interesting too...

Oh, maaaan... I always said you're a man of culture as well; even more since I had seen your models in the background. So, first off: your video put me in the mood to paint some knights and to eat some pasta. I know that usually the tabletop miniatures don't get too much detail and weathering thrown in because of all the handling and moving across the board, but do you also paint historically accurate miniatures too? Like I don't know, roman legionaries, panzers, planes, warships etc? Of course I would love to see a whole series on your modelling techniques. Cheers, Metatron!
PS: your friend painting looked wonderful and so cool; he should definitely be on devianart or artstation.

Could you do a video exploring the armours of warhammer 40,000 , I would be very interested in seeing your thoughts on the different marks of armour, which of them would or wouldn’t work and why.

I wish i had that many miniatures. I have some wh 40k ones (enough for a small Guardsman Army with one Leman Russ) But I really don't have enough money to buy more

Very nice. Like that you don't use stencils for the coat of arms. Gives the fell that each is personalized and made not by the same smith.
