      I don't remember the exact reason, but it was something like your heart rate slows down so fast that your brain send adrenaline shooting, and you start feeling that falling sensation

    I’ve always learned that you jump up because your brain went into panic mode after you fall asleep too fast. When you sleep too fast, your brain thinks you’re dying, so it has to rush you awake to stay awake.

    Fun story: The complete opposite happens in my brain shortly after I wake up, but as full on seizures. So my asleep portion of my brain isn't completely awake, while the awake part fights to stay up. I only recently started feeling warning signs and have found it actually feels like my brain is shifting into a dream, but actually a memory (since the seizures started @ 24 years old, I lost a big portion of my memories)
    It was diagnosed as "nocturnal epilepsy" for any curious

      Ok has anybody ever been tickled while they were sleeping and couldn’t move to make it stop i know its sleep paralysis but if somebody has had that happen to them i just wanna know see i used to be super Christian and I thought it was a demon tickling me idk why i thought that and i asked my mom she said she that had happened to her too she told me it’s probably an angel tickling me (my great grandmother) because my mother said her grand ma had came to her once i wont tell a whole story about supernatural lol but i used to live with my granny and she has a super old house filled with angels and demons so thats why i thought i was getting tickled by a demon lol

      think this might be true, Whe they say the brain things your dying.. everytime I get those it feels like Im falling deeeeper and deeper and deeper in a dark sleep it really feels like im dying.. Im fully aware of whats going on but at the same time I feel like if I dont wake up now, theres no coming back.. like im slowly dying in my sleep.. thank God until now I was always able to fight it off and jump up always out of breath and always trying to realize where Im at and if Im alive at all.. everything including myself feels soo unrealistic like im literaly trying to realize if Im alive..

    I never remember what I’m dreaming when it happens, but I always have the sensation of falling when it happens.
    It always reminds me when I used to get something similar when trying to fall asleep after a day on roller coasters, but even without starting to drift off I would have this rushing vibration sound/feeling in my head and a slightly weightless or dizzy feeling in my body; it was always gone by morning.

    I've experienced this numerous times. I always remember what happend just before the "jump". One time I felt like I was tripping over a rock, another time I felt like I was on a railroad track with a train approaching, and the weirdest I've experienced was, I was sitting in a chair in my apartment, and started to doze off, then I felt myself going out of body and rushing towards the nearest wall, so I jumped out of the chair.

    I cannot sleep on my back *specifically* *because* of hypno jerks..seriously it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I fall asleep on my back..I *have* to always sleep on my side or stomach..if I do that, I have no jerks at all..so now I'm really curious what functions differently in my brain because of my body position..you've brought me more questions than answers 🤷

    To me it feels almost like falling. Like if you were walking and suddenly you take a step and instead of stepping on the ground your foot just keeps going down so you panic. It's been so long since I've experienced it but I'll never forget what it feels like

    This happens to me all the time. I’d start falling asleep and then I’d feel myself “fall”. My hands and legs will land on the bed like I’ve fallen from a cliff. Any time I have these, it causes my heart rate to go up and start sweating. It’s scary sometimes.

    Well this help me once I have dream incorporation
    I literally had a dream about me diving into a pool and took a breathe in the dream in real life and I stopped breathing for 2 minutes and when I woke up I forgot how to breathe for 10 seconds before I felt my heart pumping intensely

      Haha yesssssss. That's usually when I'm kind of in between awake and asleep, but dreaming. I want to say something, but part of me is conscious that I'm dreaming and it doesn't matter, but I say it anyway and I end up speaking it out loud IRL.

    I have experienced this by walking down the stairs in my house in my dream. One step caused me to literally jump out of my bed with such intensity and hit my head on a plastic object on my floor where I fell out of my bed.

      That's likely a vitamin deficiency. I used to have the same thing until I talked to my physician about it. Mine was pretty bad and was effecting my ability to get to sleep. The particular vitamin slips my mind right now but I started taking supplements and it stopped.
